I am 15 months post op. Doing amazing . Down a total of 123 lbs. overall feel great. Energy good. Can eat anything, working hard on keeping good habits. However.... Over the last week or so, I have had short but very painful abdominal pain. LActing at the most 2 min, usually less but enough that I start running thru my head what is my next step. It feels like something is twisted or kinked. I am able to walk it out stretch or otherwise move til it stops. It has only happened 3-4 times. I am thinking it might just be constipation so I took some miralax to move things along. Obviously I need to call my dr in the morning, but I thought I would ask here if these kinked twisted feelings could be more serious.

Anybody use advocare spark?
SuzyB replied to Amanda Nicole Hosaflook's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I use spark and love the energy it gives me. Not so keen on the carbs it has as I usually only drink water, but I will take the energy. -
I joined a gym when my dr gave me approval to start working out. I try to get there 3-4 days a week. Made that goal 80%of the time due to various kid sickness, school suff etc. The scale was not moving as well as I would like it to be. My friend started taking a boot camp class and said her trainer was going to hold a class in my town. She was having a lot of progress losing weight. I decided to try the class. 2 wks in the scale is finally moving again. The trainer is Ryan Ehmann who was featured on shark tank last year. He promotes using a heart rate monitor to get you in a fat burning zone. I knew about the theory, and thought I was getting in the zone but I doubt it given how nicely the scale is moving now. For the first time in my life, I find working out to be something I look forward to.

Advise for those with no supportive help after surgery.

Be cautious about too much stocking up. Your tastes may change. I know many have posted about buying too much protein powders and other specialized foods. I sampled a lot per-op and had a small supply of those I could tolerate. I also researched places online to buy them so if I couldn't get out to buy them I knew where I could get them. Hopefully your recovery goes really smoothly and there will not be much down time. I came home and was doing most of my normal stuff the next day. Driving kids to school, shopping etc. the one thing I was cautious of the first week was how much I lifted. -
I have been a stall for 2 weeks. Making me crazy, I know from reading here the scale will move again. They tell me my body will change, well finally I am seeing evidence of that. I bought a pair of jeans a few weeks ago that I couldn't zip up but was close..well today they fit. So it is true, your body can change without the scale moving.

It is a huge learning process. Try room temp water, crystal light, Warm water. I had a lot of issues with nausea also but it stopped after about a week. Are you on Prilosec or similar.? It does get better -
Stalls suck. Period. But if you keep working the plan it will come off. Up your water.

They look for reasonable expectations, are you thinking surgery will cure you of all your problems, do you understand this is a tool not a miracle, -
After nearly 3 weeks of not being able to get to the gym, I made it there this morning. Feeling very sore right now and I am treating that as a good thing.

Im not losing hair, but I'm losing eyelashes?
SuzyB replied to hopeliveshere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had that happen, my first instinct would be to stop using mascara and eye lash curler. Or at minimum, see if you can find a gentle mascara that has some sort of moisturizing like Almay one coat. http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=423 Good luck -
You are doing great. Keep working toward IMO reasonable goal. It is great you are looking at lean muscle mass vs fat, I think it is easy to overlook the fact muscle weighs more than fat.

My sleeve story! Ups and Downs.
SuzyB replied to pkpixie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Myfitnesspal.com is great to track drinking foods and exercises. I find now at almost 4 months out, I can drink water as much as I want. I have to make a conscious effort to start drinking as soon as I get up, or I get behind. -
I had 3 because of nausea. I think by late afternoon I could have gone home the second night but they wanted to make sure I was going to keep fluids down.

How long was the list to schedule your surgery?
SuzyB replied to Sydney Lynn Pinckley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was scheduled 6 wks after my first appt. The surgeon I use schedules the surgery even before you have insurance approval. -

HOW TO GUIDE for Chewing and Spitting
SuzyB replied to Gone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is nuts, people often end up with a weight problem, due to food addictions or other disorders.. , to have the surgery and find ways to continue a food addition eating disorder is a recipe for not optimizing the surgery. If someone finds the need to do this, she/he needs get themselves to a counselor, and work through this disorder. IMO this is a crazy advice. I find it highly unlikely that any Dr would suggest this as a safe thing to do and if any dr or psych evaluator knew you were engaging or planning to engage in such behavior, that they would choose to perform or recommend one for surgery. And yes I read though the whole post. -
My husband got the ice maker at Target. I have seen them at Walmart also

Having ice helps me get my water in easier. My husband got me a counter top ice maker for Xmas. Love it... Not as good as sonic ice but is nice to have an easy supply
-
My nut said to avoid them for the first few months.

Multi vitamins giving me nausea
SuzyB replied to SuzyB's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I will have to try some gummy style. My surgeon doesn't care what I take as long as it has what I need in it. -
It is so nice to wear normal sizes. I started at. 26 and am down to a solid 18, 16s will be coming. Many of my tops were 4x.. Now an Xl fits a bit snug but not too bad.

Some proteins are better than others. Whey protein is better absorbed. Which shake I get it from is up to personal taste. Also I was told protein was only absorbed at 30 grams per serving, so anything over that at a meal was wasted. Which shakes did she recommend and how many gramser day?
