I have failed staying on every other diet. What makes this different?
SuzyB replied to bandmomtb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am post op,and still worry about it. I have tried every diet that came out. This was my last option. The sleeve helps immensely, but I still have to do the work. I still have to wrap my head the fact everyday I have to make good choices. Do I screw up and make poor choices sometimes yes but I have to move forward each day. -
I'm having a bit of a tough time
SuzyB replied to gamergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Going through the same thing. It has been much harder this Christmas season than I imagined. Between busyiness of parties, and other events, I am tired of being mindful of everything I eat. I barely have time to go for a walk with the kids out of school, let alone getting to the gym,. We do go for family walks but not cardio. Friday my oldest crew leaves for deer hunting so in many ways it will be easier to make the best food choices once they are gone. -
I have a version of anthem in CO and it took about 7 business days to get approval. I had no supervised diet, just a nut appt, and psych eval.

Problem is most protein shots are Collegen based and our body does not process that as well as whey protein. Gnc carries isopure drinks which are like Gatorade. Some hate them. I do not mind them at all. Also syntrax nectar is a decent fruit protein drink

Correlation To Stalls And Previous Weight Loss
SuzyB posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have successfully loss large amounts of weight previously. Historically, I would reach a stall, and stop trying and then regain. Always around the same weight. 235ish. Didn't matter if I started at 290, 250, I would hit a hard stall at 235. Sure enough, here I am approaching 235, and I have hit a stall. My head is in a better place, but was curious if others have seen stalls hit around certian weights. -
How Long Do The Spasms Last?
SuzyB replied to LynRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are meds that will help with this. I took them for about a month and no more problems. Call your dr -
This Is Pathetic, But I Really Need Some Encouragement
SuzyB replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Call your dr. Sometimes they get samples. Or maybe try a generic. -
My king soopersnow carries flap jacked pancakes. pancake. I made them into waffles this morning by following the pancake recipe and using a waffle Iron. It is higher in carbs than what I usually eat for b-fast but I plan to stay very low carb the rest of the day. They are expensive. I paid 3.00 for the smallest package and it will feed me for 2 meals.

My insurance has had my file for a week. Still no pre authorization yet. I was told it could be up to 2 weeks. I know in the scope of things that is not long at all, but I want to know now.

Were Your Children Allowed To Visit You?
SuzyB replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine were. They wouldn't have been allowed back in preop, but once out of recovery, and in my room they were allowed. They came up once as I really needed rest. They each walked a lap with me, and visited for maybe an hour or so. -
There is a new sensor coming out, hopefully in April. The Angelsensor http://www.angelsensor.com/ I really like the capabilities of this one which includes heart rate monitor. Fingers crossed it does as much as it says.

VerticalSleeve talked worked well. This new format sucks. I missed reading and posting but I hate that I can't see new content. Is that feature going to come back? It is time consuming to go to each folder and see what is new.

You can do it. It will be hard but the rewards are so worth it.

How Long Did You Think About It Before You Decided?
SuzyB replied to mimiski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought about it for years. I knew i liked the idea of the sleeve but that wasn't an option for my insurance til this year. Once it was allowed, it was 3 month from first meeting to surgery -
Plateaus happen. They love to mess with our head. Keep working the plan and it will start to come off again. Great work on the loss so far.

Overheating My Food
SuzyB replied to Hidden from view's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was it in reference to protein shakes? The powder protein used in shakes, globs up if heated to hot. -
Thank You Alex I do not recall ever selecting any forums but it works now.

You May Be More Successful Than You Think....
SuzyB replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good memory gamer girl. Yes I was sleeved 7 weeks ago. I put my starting weight as the day I made the decision in June. I have a feeling I will move my goal weight lower when I get there, but right now I am just focusing on following the plan. -

$27k hospital bill!
SuzyB replied to runnergirlsmom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Try not to panic, easier said than done I know. 27k sounds like the amount billed to insurance. Usually insurance pays around 1/2 of that. Cash pts can usually cut down to 1/2 or 1/3 doff what they billed -
Need protein shakes ideas
SuzyB replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember to check the type of protein. Collegen protein is usual in the shots and out body doesn't use that as well as whey protein. Also our body can only process 30 grams at a time so 82 is just going to waste -
The waiting game is the worst....
SuzyB replied to Jill105's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck. I have a bc/bs plan and my approval was very smooth. First appt in late July, approved late August, surgery in September. -
Do not over buy protein drinks. Your tastes may change. Heating pad is awesome for gas pain. For me, recovery was fairly easy. I did have pain with esophageal spasms, but there are meds to help with that. Good luck
