Great Advice Thanks for writing it up -
http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/21/us/texas-roller-coaster-death/index.html?hpt=us_c2 I feel so bad for the family. I feel badly for all the ignorant cruel comments about the woman and her weight problems. I also feel bad for the young man who dismissed her comment that she didn't think her harness was correctly applied. I wonder did he not want to tell her yea you need to get off because she was not going to be properly secured due to you weight, did he believe it was correctly applied. I have done the walk of shame at rides and as akward as that is, far better to do it than to loose your life. When I did, I knew as soon as I sat down, there might be a problem and as long as the attendant was polite I was not going to be angry at him. I would be embarassed but trust me I know I am fat and I know there are somethings I cannot do or do not fit. Suzy

Why I Post aka That guy's an A Hole
SuzyB replied to Paul11011's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have haven't run across many of your posts here as I am a newbie. But continue to be an ahole as needed. This will be a long process and I know I need a kick in the butt sometimes. Truth hurts but you need it to heal Suzy -
That is even worse that she argued her ability to fit safely. I believe strongly in personal responsibility. I ate my way to my weight. I do have trust my drs to say I need meds for bp or whatever as I need to trust ride operators that I won't fit properly

http://kdvr.com/2013/07/22/woman-falls-to-her-death-off-texas-six-flags-coaster/ Opps I looked at few different articles, this has the pic of her Suzy

There is a picture of her in the article. You have to click through them to find it. I am kinda surprised the media didn't mention it, but it is obvious she was obese.

Great job. That is awesome. Keep up the good work

Some of those 5k's look like so much fun. I hope to be doing them soon. Why aren't you able to get to the gym more regularly? The great thing about 5k's is you do not have to go to the gym to train. Can you get up 30 min early and walk for 30 min. From your reply you have an iphone so download an app like mapmywalk so you can see how far you are going. You can do this and I know once I get going and doing it more regularly, I want to get up and walk. I feel good after I do it. Suzy

September Sleevers...! Come on in and chat!

I am Sept 16th also. -
Tomorrow I have my seminar and first meeting with the surgeon. I was told I would be setting a date for surgery at that time. Kinda baffled at that one as I have had no preop testing nor been approved by insurance. My insurance *** Colorado Access which is a Anthem company, has basic requirements.. be obese, understand the risks, be of sound mind, good surgical risk so maybe that is why the cooridinator says I can get a date so early in the process. I have a feeling sleep will be hard to get tonight. Suzy

Talk to the people at your local hospital to see if they have reciprocating privileges with another program. Maybe they can steer you to one that will be no cost to you. 2000 is a lot of money but still a great discount for what many others will pay. Start saving. I am sure it was a let down to think it was all good to go, but your health is worth it Suzy

My question is several parts. I am hoping to schedule my surgery for Sept/Oct. I have 4 kids who will be in school full time then. K-7th grade. My husband travels a lot for work. He can be gone for M-F to a month or more at a time. How long do you think an average recovery time is that I would need someone home with me? All day to only when the kids are home. I know complications would change all that but I am wondering about typical times. Second part goes along with the same, how long before you felt like being out of the house? Both my boys play football and we will be right in the middle of the season. If I had surgery on a Monday, would I be able to attend a game on Friday night or Sat? Suzy

I would be reconsidering Dr Q. Falsified leak numbers would scare me majorly. Suzy

I am new to the forum but as I look over new and old posts, I often see people post companies that offer either free or inexpensive samples vitamins. I think it would be nice to have a place where they are all listed. Suzy

I will get something started in the next few days. Currently driving across country with the family.

9 Months Out - 1 Year Vacation Contrast (Long, Xpost)
SuzyB replied to Terry H.'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am grinning as much as I guess you were writing it. Can't wait to be having vacations with my kids like you did with your nephews. We are on vacation and I have had to say no to things I wanted to do but worried about being able to. I hope to my surgery in Aug or Sept. -
help with pricing and airports
SuzyB replied to golpher1204's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Kayak.com is great about pricing the major airlines. Southwest and frontier do not come up in their searches so you have to do them separately. Suzy -

I spoke to my patient navigator. She contacted my insurance that took over on Monday. I have full coverage except for copays which I expect to be around 1200$. No required supervised diet. I hope to have my initial appointment in 2-3 weeks. Hopefully I can move forward relatively quickly. Suzy

So I am in process waiting to return home in a few weeks. Our insurance changes on July 1. Previous years had a cap, one year was 7500$ max for surgery. the next year it was up to was 14,500 . This year the benefit said determined at place of service. Called and was told it meant, surgery was covered, I would have to pay copays. Today I am told, via email no that was wrong, that it was only 7500 lifetime max. So someone is wrong, but who. My husband who is reluctant at best for me to have the surgery, does not want me to go to Mx. I am fairly sure insurance would cover nothing of it done in MX. So now I have to wait and see what is told to my Dr. They will not even submit anything until July1 which I know isn't that far away. I just wanted to know now. Suzy

I have 4 kids. What have people done to ease feeding the family after surgery? I have been very mindful lately of how much I pick at my food while cooking or cleaning up for them. Ideally, I will not have to cook for a week or 2 afterwards, but as I understand it, it will be 2-4 months before I can eat real food in small portions. Suzy

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
SuzyB replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't have one major moment, just multiple ones. Realizing I can't ride most rides at fairs and parks because of my size. Looking at every chair wondering if I can sit there, did it have arms that my hips fit in. Seeing the 303 number. Hearing my son yell at me about being picked on due to my size. Having to order on line for clothes and having to dress in fat clothes. Feeling like I was being watched every time I ate. Having to go on a cpap machine, knowing that I am gambling everyday with my health as currently, I do not have any other health issues related to my weight. -
I have posted a few questions here and there. I am in a holding pattern. My new insurance that covers surgery does not kick into July 1. Unfortunately I can't schedule a meeting until Mid July as we will be on vacation. I did speak to the new insurance company and they have fairly basic requirements.. Over 40bmi, good candidate etc. They do have a attempted traditional diets clause. I have attempted many on my own. I never liked going to the dr as I didn't want to here it's your weight. I am hoping my logs from ww will suffice. I am anxious to get started on my more healthy life. The bariatric navigator is going to call the insurance on July 1 to get official word on what hoops I need to go through. I am hoping to get the initial appt when we get back. I am still on the fence on who to tell what too. I think a lot will depend on when I get scheduled, I am very active in my kids school so I will have to step back from some stuff I am sure once I am sleeved.
