We're you ever thin before surgery?
SuzyB replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Battled my weight my whole life. But soon I will win the fight. -
Mothers worry. I am not telling my brother until after the surgery. Even then I am not sure I will tell him. I do not want my in laws to know but I imagine my kids will tell them.
-
I can't wait to do that. Congrats

I think it is normal. Congrats on a start to your new life.

I am sorry you are feeling so off. It is still early. Some advice I have heard was try different tempatures of fluids. -
Today I had my head shrunk. First I had to answer 150 t/f questions. They ask a lot of questions several times in different phrasing. Afterward I had to talk to the Dr. He went over my test results. There were several traits they were looking for in wls patients. Some of them were expected like support available, drug/alcohol abuse, depression. One kinda surprised me but they asked things like I accurately report my symptoms, I often blow things out of proportion, etc. The Dr explained that it was looking for is the patient a good fiancial risk. Was the pt going to go to Dr for every little thing, making mountains out of molehills etc. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that this all comes down to money.. I passed. In 2 wks I see the NUT and then submit for approval.

letter to a newbie.....

I am still pre op but 8. Your surgeon's plan will vary from every other surgeon plan. You picked your surgeon because hopefully you trust him/her. If you want to go off your surgeon's plan, then at least tell them how you are changing it. -
There is also a run a 3k app that I found more manageable for my dislike of exercise. Slightly over 2.5 miles. It is on itunes. I am not sure about google play.

My eval is tomorrow. I am so nervous.

You look amazing. You must be so proud of yourself. -
Stuck at same weight for 6 days on Pre-Op. Ugh.

And we would be rich cause we could tell others what will work for them cause it worked for us. Do you have a date yet? Mine is for the 16 of Sept so I am a ways out -

My opinion, as a pre-op, is yes you are over-thinking. Although I understand your thought process. I know I have forever tried to figure out the magic formula to lose weight but it doesn't work. Your body is a process and we are just stuck making the best choices we can. -
How did you decide if this was right for you vs other bariatric procedures
SuzyB replied to Montereygrl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going for the sleeve as it preserves the pyloric valve and isn't likely to cause malnutrition. Lapband has too many complications. -

I am preop and have told my husband, 12 year old because he overheard me talking and 5 friends. 2 are long distance, and 3 are local. I am 6wks out so I will tell more people as it gets closer I am sure. I do not want to tell my Inlaws anything and I will not tell my brother who will give me the ole, eat less move more lecture. He has never had a weight problem. I will tell my other 3 kids closer to the time. There is a huge part of me that doesn't want to tell anyone else. Another part says tell them all. who cares what they think of me.

Thanks for this resource. I am North of Denver and I do much in FTC but I am interested in a more accurate assessment of weight vs bmi.

I am so sorry.

I think it would be worth it to have a psych eval even if not required. My dr will do adolescents but usually they are 16 and up. I was like your daughter, about the same size. Not sure I would have been mature enough to handle it then.

I posted earlier in the week about this death. From the images I saw, she was obese, I read an article that the restraints were designed for 180. My estimation she was over that weight. There are claims that she both said she could fit and then said she didn't think her latch clicked correctly.

Thanks for posting that link to Nashua nutrition

The ideal shape only has 11gr of Protein. My nut wants them to be 20 or higher. I just have some on hand and am using them up preop.

I have been trying Chike, Unjury, Ideal Shape (which doesn't meet post op requirements, but I have it on hand) I have found that what you mix it with is very important. I have tried milk, water and almond milk. For me hands down, it is best to mix it will almond milk. So in my experience, if you do not like one, try it in a different fluid. Makes it a world of difference.
