So I just need to get this off my chest
SuzyB replied to Brighteyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will work out. I would also call your surgeon's office and tell them if there is cancelation to give you a call. -
I hate my cpap machine but I use it every night as people die from it. A friend of mine just lost her 32 year old single brother who had sole custody of his 3 young kids. He refused to use his machine, he thought it was a scam too and was not as serious as it can be. Now 3 kids have no parents.

I have been told to eat according to schedule as I am supposed to not feel hunger. Really hoping that is the case.

Psych Eval Completed Today
SuzyB replied to Andrew0929's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is awesome things are moving along. Hoping there are no bumps in the road for you. -
I also ditto the my fitness pal. It really helps me see where I am in a given day as to how much I have eaten. I like the quick add as my breakfast tends to be the same thing day in day out.

I am not sure how to handle this. I am still preop. Surgery is still 6 wks away. I love pinterest and have been actively pinning wls surgery stuff to a private board. I made the mistake to follow an entire board so it posted to my public profile. My husband's cousin who I see every 2-4 years just added a pin to the board about.. a post it note about are your excuses more important than your dreams. I am not sure how to read it. I had not planned on telling any of my inlaws about the surgery until after for many reasons but mostly I do not want the debbie downers. I have thought about telling her I am not telling anyone about my looking in to surgery to please keep it private. I thought about ignoring it completely and not saying a word. And of course I could be over thinking this whole thing.
-
Yes she was able to add to to a board I was following. I opted to follow the whole board rather than individual pins which I could have pinned to my private board that only I can see
-
I really wanted to control who knew and when they knew. If L is suspecting that I may hav esurgery, do I say something to ask her to keep it hush hush or do I ignore it? In many ways I could interpret the pin to be supportive or I could interpret it to the common way of thinking wls is an easy way out. She has never been over weight, but I do not know if that has been a struggle for her or easy. We are not that close, she is about 20 years younger than me and we haven't spend a lot of time together. Thank you all for your input, it gives me stuff to think about an how to proceed.

Stall, old topic but new for me!
SuzyB replied to liteNsun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stalls suck. Have you taken any measurement? You are probably toning up and building muscle. -
I must be weird because I do not mind it at all. It does have to be very very cold.

Now that I think about it, I did have an EKG done just about a year ago and that was normal so maybe they go by that. The practice I am use is a center for excellence and are known to take on the cases no other Dr want to touch so they are very experienced. I have been a surprised at the minimal preop stuff they require. Perhaps when I have my hospital preop that will be more extensive than what has been ordered so far.

I can't seem to get used to NOT drinking with my meals!
SuzyB replied to Im14fun's topic in Food and Nutrition
I haven't been sleeved yet but have been trying very hard to follow the guidelines but have very little success with it. It really surprises me how much of a habit it is for me as I thought it wouldn't be that hard. I think I am going to have to be follow other's advice and just not order anything when out. -
I have no heart testing. I am 45, no high cholesterol, I was adopted so I have no idea of family history

Most surgeons place everyone on some form of diet whether it be full liquid, high protein, low carb. My surgeon does not use any diet other than do not gain, try to lose 5-10 lbs. I am 6 wks from surgery and I am eating high protein, low carb but will also have things I know I will not be allowed to have for quite sometime.
-
I think this is normal. My surgery is 6 wks out and for the majority of the time I am totally at peace about it. Then I realize how big this is. I just keep telling myself gaining my health back is more important. My Dr is very very good and I trust him. That is very important to me.

Brother's Wedding - To Go or Not To Go, That is THE Question!
SuzyB replied to SarahBeth1217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I would try to go. A wedding is an important mile stone in a families life. What I will remind you is you will be in the mountains. Be extra sure to drink drink drink. Altitude sickness is not something that you want to mess with when you are still in recovery. Colorado is gorgeous this time of year. -
Any suggestions re: pre-made protein drinks w/ low carbs and high protein?
SuzyB replied to vsginkc's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Premade, I haven't found one I love but powdered I like Unjury, and Chike. Both have to be ordered on line but they do have sample packs. Also I do not mind isopure zero carb. That you can get in GNC. Also check out VItiamin Cottage. THey have a large selection. -
When did you receive your date?
SuzyB replied to rocknrollmama1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got mine on the day I met the surgeon. I do not have a 6 month diet requirement so I was scheduled 8 wks out. My dr is on vaca for first part of Sept -
Finally getting things going
SuzyB replied to Brighteyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad you were able to find a new doc that is supportive. I think it is really important to have the primary be on board. I recently changed primary and I know my old one would have relunctantly supported my surgery, this new one is really on board with it which makes going to the dr not so much of a dread. Reality is some dr still have a hard time believing surgery is a good option. -
I would be asking why? It seems many have both done at the same time. There may be a very good reason why, but it could be a $ issue. 2 surgeries more money

Primary Care Physician Semi-Supportive
SuzyB replied to Andrew0929's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe that is every pt fear. My opinion, pre surgical, is that, one has to be extra diligent once goal is reached. I read about regular weigh ins and fighting with 1-2 lbs vs 20-30. I am going to talk to my pcp about being able to weigh in the office regularly like every 2wks and if I go over by 5 lbs it means and actual office visit to see what is going on. -
3 weeks out and I can't stop eating!
SuzyB replied to vsginkc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am feeling the same way too and i have 6 weeks to go. I am working to keep my carbs down and protein high but I feel like I am starving constantly. I hate it. I hope I am lucky in that I stop feeling hunger after my surgery. -
