phsyc assesment...im scared now!
SuzyB replied to Mommie4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really is to make sure you know what you are getting into. This is life changing, permenant process, do you have support. The reason it is likely so long is most include a questionaire of true/false questions that ask have you thought of hurting yourself, do you think about self harm, how likely are you to over report your symptoms, etc Mine was 2 hrs, They gave me 45 min for the questionaire and 1 15 for the meeting with the dr. He filled out the paperwork while we talked and dropped it in the mailbox as I walked out. -
when do you get your surgery date?
SuzyB replied to linda305's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The office I am using gives you a date the first day you meet with the surgeon. In my case it was also the day of the seminar. -
Saw PCP today, Not supportive to go to Mexico
SuzyB replied to becksnky's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I just love it ( not) when people throw out "I have seen too many complications" but in reality, they may have seen 1 or 2 of the many many that are done there. I am glad you are getting a new dr that will hopefully be supportive. -
Maybe. I believe there is a window to get the surgery done by once insurance approves it. My dr gives me a surgery date even before submitting to the insurance. Call your surgeon's office and ask. Congrats

Thinkgs are moving along so fast all of a sudden.
SuzyB replied to ejsfanatic's topic in Insurance & Financing
It will all be fine. Each step brings you closer to the goal. -
It really depends on what level of insurance your employer purchases. I have an Anthem which is a part of BC?BS and it is covered for me. You need to talk to your employer and ask for a copy of exclusions. Many here have traveled to Mexico with great results for much less than if they had to pay for surgery here. It sucks that it is not universally covered.

I make it a habit to research prices before I buy from a brick and mortar store or in your case Dr's office. In my Dr's office, they recommend some but I buy elsewhere. Hopefully you did not buy too many so for your reorder you can buy cheaper.

I call "drinking 64 oz water" BS
SuzyB replied to Damaris67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am glad you are being successful at weight loss. I do have to agree with the above posters, 64 is not going to give you water poisoning. -
Before and after (so far!)

You look great!! -
Hope you get your date soon.

I think you just have to keep making good choices over and over. Stick to the basics, log what you eat. Never get complacent.
-
Good luck. I know everything that moves me closer to surgery is exciting.
-
Thank goodness for appointment reminders. I wrote down my nut appt was on Friday. Turns out it is for tomorrow. My last hoop then I can be submitted to insurance.
-
Well, I guess this is going to be my gastric sleeve story.

Welcome and good luck. That is wonderful your grandfather is helping you out on this journey. It is a life long gift. -
Well more accurately, I had my first surgeon appt the same day. At that appointment is where I got my surgery date. The practice I went to, sets up seminars every Thursday and Friday and then has lots of the prospective new patients meet with the surgeon after that appointment.
-
I went to my seminar on July 19, got my surgery date of Sept 16. I had no diet requirements. I did have to meet with the nut and psych which I will finish this week, then insurance has to approve me. I am nervous about that but from my review of insurance requirements, it seems like I will have jumped through all the hoops that they asked. It is so hard to be patient.
-
I asked my dr's office and what they do is they have a spread sheet of all the patients. When they have proof you have done all the requirements, they submit within goal of 2-3 days. Then it is on the insurance company to approve or deny. When you finish the last requirement or even before, call them and ask. I used the reasoning, I would like to know the process so I do not call you every day wanting to know what is up. It is so hard to be patient. I finish my last requirement on the 16th of this month.

What is your surgeon's plan? I would look at that, figure out what week you are post op and follow it.
-
Welcome and good luck

Enjoy it and I hope it lasts for you.

BCBS OF TEXAS KICKS IN OCTOBER 1ST
SuzyB replied to Juciilyps:)'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was in process of changing insurances on July 1 of this year. I called my surgeons office mid June and told the cooridinator there what insurance I had. I was able to call BC/BS late June and was able to get my id number and other info. She called right on July 1 found out what my requirements were and I started as soon as I got back from vacation doing requirements. So I would call now and talk with the office. Great if you can start on Oct 1. -
That is awesome Cigna spells it out so clearly. Bc/BS does not. Thanks for sharing

Tell me again why I'm doing this?
SuzyB replied to aTXtumbleweed's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can lose weight however keeping it off is the part I cannot manage to do long term. And then when I start to regain, I can't stop myself. That pattern of behavior got me in this place. Now I need to have a tool I cannot ignore. -
