  1. Just be careful. I know some doctors go ape shit at the mention of soda. I understand both sides, but honestly I sip enough to throw up or make it pass so I can't be doing much damage.
  2. I know this is probably not going to sit well with some people, but I drink carbonation EVERY time I get stuck. I cannot deal with pain at all, so I either want it to pass or come up. Therefore, I drink carbonation (be it coke or otherwise). I told my doctor, and since he has never had a problem with carbonation he doesnt have a problem drinking a little to get it up. I'm fairly newly banded (3 months) so I am still learning how to eat. I figure once I learn how to eat properly, I wont get stuck and I can cut out the soda all together.
  3. Im still fairly new at this as well. Banded on 2/7, but I have had my first fill. Also, Im 21 so were similar in age. Im willing to talk.

    Lifting stuff.

They told me I could not lift anything over 10 lbs. The first thing I asked after that was if I could pick up my cat, he's about 11 lbs. They said it should be fine, but nothing more than that. Hope this helps.

    I'm a mess...help!

GRR! I wonder why I was advised to take the motrin.. My check up is Thursday, so you better believe I will ask! That's a shame too - Advil is my best friend during my menstrual cycle..

    I'm a mess...help!

Well love, I too was banded exactly one week ago.. I initially only took 3 days off work which meant I got banded on the 7th, and returned to work on the 10th. Thursday and Friday were terrible. I was sore, but the biggest issue was I was exhausted. I only worked 5 hours both days and could barely stay awake. I was supposed to work Saturday, but took it off. I went back today and let me say, it was much better. With that being said, I think even if I took a week off like you I would have struggled. You're not used to working after being off and able to sleep all day. Friday when I came home I felt exactly how you described. As for the medication.. I found out early on that I was allergic to the Loratab. Instead, I took children's liquid motrin and children's liquid Tylenol 3 hours apart as per the recommendation of my anesthesiologist. They worked fantastically and although I am not taking them as much now, I do when I am feeling extra sore. Maybe you could try that?
  7. So I have my surgery scheduled for February 7th, however, they wanted me to lose 30 pounds during the 4 week pre-op to get my BMI down. I am currently on week 3, and up until this week I have been doing wonderfully. I lost 20 pounds. This week I have lost nothing so far. I just do not want to have to go through additional weeks of this liquid diet. I am following everything to a tee. Anyone have any suggestions?

    A little discouraged.

Thats very reassuring coming from you seeing as how I will be banded by Dr. Curry as well. They told me if I followed the 4 week medifast I would lose 40 lbs no problem. I thought that was alot as well, but I obviously dont know much about nutrition or I wouldnt be in this situation. I just dont want to get there and have them tell me they cant band me.

    A little discouraged.

I havent done any exercise the past two weeks, but this week I started walking 30 minutes each day. I am hoping that helps take the last 10 pounds off. Yay for Feb 7th! It's coming soon.
