Don't let his words or actions get you down. Like others said, you need to do this for you...and only if you. If other want to jump on your wagon fine. but you are #1!!! It takes about 6 months to get approved and there is a lot to do once you get started. You will see how committed you are by doing the pre-surgery stuff. You will need to meet with a psychologist so maybe talk to them about your concerns and how you may be able to talk to your bf. Best of lucj to you! Peace~ ally

Hey-You are totally right! So far I have spoken about about my situation to all the Dr's and nurses I have met. They told me to discuss it with them once I get into pre-op. I have spoken to a few people in "the program" who said it's ok to receive the pain meds as long as they are being used for the appropriate reason. My plan is to only be on them in the hospital and then I was told I could get a pretty decent non-narcotic pain killer once I go home. But from reading many of the surgery posts it sounds like I may be able to get away with just plain advil or tylonal. I think I am feeling pretty good about the plan... Thanks for your nudge...it's always good to know whe people have your back!!! :) So glad you are feeling ok. Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!!! Peace~ Ally PS Loved the pucking emoticon...where did you find that...hilarious!

What type of pre-op diet are you on, and how are you doing?
FeelingGroovy replied to Elle23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You guys are all so great...I can identify with all of you. I am a total scale junkie...I check almost everyday and of course it's in the buff, after my morning pee and before I brush my teeth...hehe I'm also feeling kind of indifferent about. Maybe it hasn't hit me yet. Maybe I am in denile of all the changes. I know it will be hard completely changing my lifestyle. I am on day 4 of my pre-op and so far so good. Mine is also on the easier side. 2 shakes (I like unjury and inspire from Bariatric Eating.com...a great website if you havent seen it), fruit veggies and 3-4ox of fish or chicken. I did have a cupcake the other day to Celebrate a promotion at work...oh well no ones perfect!!! I'm also not sure about telling people yet...other then my mom/Dad, Hubby (of course) and my BFF. No one at work knows...they just think I'm going on vaca for a week...hope that fib doesn't backfire...not that I am concerned about what they may think but I agree with you all that I would rather get some of this under my belt and actually know what I am doing and of course I will have hopefully lost some weight. I work all day and I find it hard to get all the meals in. I sit in a ton of meetings and am on the go alot...I'll need to figure this one out. Anyway, off to a meeting I go. I wish everyone lots of success...Keep in touch! Peace~ Ally -

So glad to hear you are doing ok. Thanks for posting all the info. I'm also more concerned about the post op and getting back to my life. It will be hard not to want to ea6 everything that I am used to...and then there is the decreased quantity. I am def a bulk eater...I just need to remember why I am doing this...Oh and the ice pops are a great idea. Thanks again for posting...keep in touch with us and let us know how you are progressing. Peace~ Ally -

Thanks so much for posting...I loved all the detail. It has def helped me ease the anxiety. Keep me posted on the pain. That's my biggest concern since I really shouldn't take narcotic pain killers. I am very nervous about that part. :( So glad all went well for you... keep in touch! Ally

Need someone to talk to!
FeelingGroovy replied to Julieannas_Mommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has to be normal to go through such a life changing proceedure. Our lives will never be the same again...but hopefully the change is for the better. For me, I will need to change the way I use food and the way I eat it...it's going to be very hard but I know I can do it...and so can you. :D Take it slow. Don't try to be "perfect" all at once. I think this type of change requires practice. We will also have slip ups but hopefully there will be lots of success too! Relax and don't put too much pressure on yourself...we can do this if we just take it one day at a time or even one meal at a time. Peace! Ally -

I am so with you guys...my husband is a total pain in the ass. I don't think he fully gets it. I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet and last night he brought me a cupcake to cellebrate my promotion at work. I know its not that big of a deal but come on...tonight he wants to take me out to dinner for my last supper...naturally I'm going...wrong I know but what the heck. He doesn't know how to be supportive in a gentle way which is how I need it. he says if he has to praise then he can criticize. OY! He is a tough one. I'm going to try and not let him bother me but we'll see how that goes. I am also considering a therapist...someone who is knowlegeable of addictions. I am 16mo clean from perscription meds but I have easily increased my eating and shopping. It's my crutch and makes me feel better...maybe I should try using the gym as a way to sooth my soul...what a healthy concept. We need to help support each other...I'm here for you guys. Good luck to all. We can do this one day at a time!!! Peace~ Ally -
Best of luck Smokey...keep us posted!!! Rock on girlfriend! Peace~ Ally :)

Hi- I am also being banded on 2/7. You post is as if I wrote it. I feel exactly the same way you do. I am excited, scared, anxious, etc. Since we are starting this journey together lets try to help and support each other. I know I will need help along the way. This is an opportunity to finally do the right thing and take control of our health and wellbeing. We can do this...one day at a time. We diserve this! I hope you will stay in touch so we can share our triumphs and challenges!!! Enjoy the day! Ally -
Hi There- I am also doing ok with the pre op diet. Mine doesn't seen as strict as many of the others. I am not on all liquid. Mine is very low/no carb, high Protein and lots of veggies. I do also drink 2 shakes a day. 1x for Breakfast and 1x as a snack. So far so good. Best of luck to you and I will be thinking of you on 2/7...let's stay in touch and help each other out...This is going to be a huge life change and I want all the help and support I can get...and I will be there to help and support you too. Good luck to you all...this is an exciting journey. Much success to all!!! Ally :) :) -
I am pretty nervous too. It's hard to imagine not being able to eat the same quantity of food that I am used too. It is like losing a friend. I know I can do it though...I even wonder do I even need this. I have lost about 15lbs on my own over the past few weeks. I am commited to this and think it is the right thing. It's great to see that other people are feeling the same way...

Are there any other Sleep Apnea Sufferers out there?
FeelingGroovy replied to justplaintired's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hate using mine too. I also have the little pillows. I'm comfortable wearing it but I totally obsess over hearing myself breath...sounds crazy I know but the sound is driving me nuts. I also hate feeling the air that comes out of it. I am a very finicky sleeper and I easily fixate on the little things. My Dr said I need to wear it for the few weeks leading up to my surgery date and then I am going without it again...I am also hopefully that the apnea will go away after I lose some weight.
