How is everyone doing that's been banded so far?
FeelingGroovy replied to SMOKEY2112's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was also 2/7. I go to the Dr for my first appt. I am starving right now and fighting the urge to sneak eat since no one is home. Not that there is anything exciting to eat in the house but I could still put away some food. I know I won't do it and i'll just eat my mashed sweet potato. I need to fight hard to keep up all the work i've done already. I haven't been on the scale yet...waiting to do it at the Drs 2mrw. Keep ya'll posted. -
Do fills hurt?
FeelingGroovy replied to justplaintired's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad you asked this question. I have my first follow up appt with my surgeon tomorrow but not sure if I'll also be getting a fill. I have been a bit anxious about it. -
Where is your port??
FeelingGroovy replied to lisa-conners@hotmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is about 2'up and to the rt of my bellybutton. I can also feel it...feels like a large lump. I have my first pre-op appt tomorrow so I will ask if there is any rhyme or reason to where its put. -

Congrats to everyone! I am almost 2wks out and feeling really good. I am excited about this journey. Look forward to getting to know everyone. ~Peace Ally -
Hi Everyone! Good so see everyone is doing well. I am 11 days out and doing pretty good. Overall I have had very little discomfort. Even wonder if my Dr actually put the band in. I'm hungry less and get full faster but I don't really feel any different. I do burp more though... I have been good on mushies though I've had a few cheats here and there the worst being a cupcake on Valentines day. Otherwise I've had a peice of cheese, a triscut, a bite of steak and a french fry. Not too bad and certainly nothing like I would have done before. I have a gym in my apt building so tomorrow I plan on going and start to walk on the treadmill. I hope to do 20 minutes. We'll see. Anyway...keep up the hard wor everyone! Peace~ Ally

I just cant leave it alone...
FeelingGroovy replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like this idea...I need to start doing this when I go out. I'm only 10 days post op so it will be a long while before I eat out. -
I am 9 days post op and eating mushies...I find that I am burping a lot and they are long burps...think Willy Wonka and the bubble machine scene. Is it b/c I am eating to fast? Or gulping drinks? I have been trying to eat slower and take little sips but haven't been very successfull yet. I must be sucking in too much air. I am not as mindful as I should be when I eat. Anyone else having this problem. Also if my band is empty is there any restriction on my stomach? I do feel full faster and def can't eat as much as I would normally eat. Thoughts? Ally

What are some good protein choices for pureed stage?
FeelingGroovy replied to BIGMAMA2HOTMAMA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 2/7 and also just started the mushies. For Protein I eat tuna, mashed hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese and greek yogurt. I eat about every 3hrs but I also drink Protein drinks between meals. That seems to help. I also eat SF frozen fruit pops if i'm feeling hungry. Good luck! Ally -
Justplaintired...glad you are doing ok. Take it slow and allow your body to heal. It's so great to hear from other Feb bandsters who are going through the same things as I am! It's been so helpful reading everyones posts. So great to hear there is normalcy ahead. I agree that through this journey I will learn to make many many small changes and make better food choices. What a concept! Hope everyone keeps up the hard work...I know it will pay off. Peace~ Ally

How is everyone doing that's been banded so far?
FeelingGroovy replied to SMOKEY2112's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 8 days out and feeling pretty good. Not much discomfort. Back to work yesterday and so far so good. I do miss my afternoon nap though! I am not too hungry and I find it hard to get all my food in. I am in meetings all day and find I am eating too fast. I just started mushies yesterday...that was a thrill. I tried talking my hubby into getting me a valentines day cupcake and blending it up with some milk...good thing he didn't fall for it. I do honestly feel that I am thinking about food all the time now. It's hard to prepare and plan and concentrate on what, when and where I am eating. I feel slightly obsessed by it. Got on the scale today and it hasn't moved. I think my scale must be broken... It is a pretty crappy scale so I'm just going to wait until I meeti with the good Dr next week. Smokey, I haven't started to to any activity either. Not sure why it's so hard to get my arse off the couch and take a walk or something. The gym in my apt building is amazing and its only two floors down from me...TWO FLOORS...so lame!!! I need to work on this one!!! All in all doing pretty good so far! Peace~ Ally -
Tips for not drinking after eating?
FeelingGroovy replied to k-statearmywife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also having a hard time with drinking. My Dr says no liquid 30 min before/after a meal. I need to try the ice idea that seems to be a good one. So many changes...it can be very overwhelming at times!!! -
Can you eat salad?
FeelingGroovy replied to amberakamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great idea! I will need to try that. -
Hope you guys are starting to feel a little better. I was also told no Motrin...only tylonol. Try liquid if its too hard to awallow a pill. And call your Dr just to check in and ease your discomfort. Maybe he/she can perscribe something to help you relax...Ativan always works for me. While I don't have children I imagine this is how a new parent feels. So unsure of all the changes and not knowing what to expect or if things that are happening are "normal" I imagine new moms call their docs all the time with what they think are silly questions/comments...that's why they get paid the big bucks!!! I feel pretty lucky that I haven't been in much discomfort and I am a total lightweight. I'm also a week out and came back to work yesterday. So far so good. I'm a bit uncomfortable especially with the waist on my jeans and underwire of my bra. I also miss my 3p nap...

One week banded but have only lost 2 lbs
FeelingGroovy replied to RobinLB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad I saw this post. Thanks Reverie for your comments! I am also one week out and feeling hungry. I got on the scale this AM for the first time and it hasn't budged AT ALL!!! I need to remember using these next few weeks to heal and to start moving my body more. I am also experimenting with different brands of shakes/drinks to find which ones I like/dislike. Not digging the nectar ice tea at all...good thing I bought the variety pack. I think we all want to see weight loss happen quickly but I need to remind myself that the process is slow. It's not magic and won't happen over night...I now I didn't gain it overnight. Best of luck to all. Ally -
Going to a Italian Resturant tonight...
FeelingGroovy replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you enjoyed your dinner and evening out! Sounds like you made some great choices. It's all about making choices. I am only 1week out and I would love to have gone out for italian food. I start the mushey food today so at least thats good. Do what feels right to you. Ally -
almost passed out and got sick
FeelingGroovy replied to TylerAshton567's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear you are on the mend. All these changes are pretty scary. Not always sure what to do...but I guess when in doubt call the Dr. -
do you have to see the dr b4 changing food stages?
FeelingGroovy replied to punk.sauce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr has me doing 1 wk full liquids and then moving to mushies for the second week. I am one week today so I have been incorp mushy food like cottage cheese and tuna fish. I am still hungry too so I added an extra Protein shake and that seems to help. Check with your Dr or nutritionist and see what they would recommend. Keep us posted. Also wondering when the hungry feelings go away.... Ally -
Thanks for sharing your story! I was banded on 2/7 and so far so good. Fortunately I didn't have much pain. Mostly just discomfort around my inscisions. I've read a lot about the barium and xrays and find it interesting that my Dr doesn't do it....hmmm??? I'll have to ask when I see him on 2/23. So far ok doing liquids. I'm also doing shakes, Soups drinks etc. I also like unjury. Syntrax nectars also make a good juice drink mix...ice tea lemonade, rasberry etc. I wish everyone tons of success and look forward to getting to know everyone better as we continue through this journey. :D Peace! Allyson

Lady question :)
FeelingGroovy replied to ~*~Rachel~*~'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so glad you brought this up...I got a mid cycle period (first time ever) about 3weeks before my period. Went to my Dr and she said its normal. Now I'm 2 weeks late on what should be my normal date. I was banded 5 days ago. Do I count from the mid cycle period or my usual one...I guess I will also just wait to see. -
Home from the hospital and feeling great so far!!! The surgery went well. I was able to get up shortly after getting to my room. I did a few laps around the hallway. I am a little sore but no major pain...which is good b/c I am a lghtweight when it comes to pain. Ive made a yummy Protein Shake and will have some broth soon. My mom is staying with me for a few days but I would have been fine alone to. Hubby works long hours so its nice to have her here. I am ready for this new journey and looking forward to taking back my life. I am tired of beeing ruled by food. I know its going to be a long haul but I know I can do it. I need to take it one day at a time. Peace~ Ally

Wishing you all the best!!! Good luck!

Being Banded this Monday - Feb 7th
FeelingGroovy replied to HungryMel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! I am also getting banded tomorrow 2/7...I am nervous, excited, sad, worried, etc. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions over the past few days. I am excited b/c I feel I am doing what is best for me. I know I can do this but it's going to be very hard. I have spend my life using food in so many ways other then for nutrition. This change will effect everything in my life. I enjoy socializing and going out to eat and drink. I sit in many meetings all day and i'm nervous as to how i'll prepare and eat the right foods. I did buy a small fridge for my office and lots of tupperware so I plan to premake food and take it to work. My mom came to stay with me for the first few days since hubby is starting a new job and can't take off any time. My mom is already driving me nuts...yikes. I have onlt told a few close friends and family. No one at work really knows. I'm also starting in a new role at work and that's adding some exta anxiety. I think i'm totally babbling now...my thoughts are all over the place. Best of luck to everyone! This is the beginning of a wonderful journey. I look forward to sharing all our successes and challenges with each other and providing lots of support along the way. Peace! ally
