WOW! You are doing so great! How did you lose the weight before surgery? I am one week out and I am trying to ignore the little voice that tells me I will never succeed. Are you exercising too?

Discharged from hospital and back home
Infernored replied to Beadingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no! I get my drain out tomorrow morning before work. My abdomen is really sore at it's insertion point. I'm sick of it. -
Oh my god. What is wrong with people? This makes me very upset. That is the reason I was always afraid of going out to dinner with my husband before surgery. I didn't even like walking down the street, not because of the exercise, but because I was afraid of what people thought of me.

New girl needs moral support
Infernored replied to TheskinnyKristen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck with saving up. I don't know much about the doctors down in Mexico, but alot of people have gone to them from here and they all seem to have good things to say. I just got this surgery last week and I am feeling great. I am dropping weight fast and I feel healthy. This surgery doesn't cause malnutrition and I don't believe I've heard of anybody who became underweight. There are plenty of people on this site who lost only 70 pounds or so and that's all they needed. We are all here for you. My husband was very wary of the surgery because he was scared for my safety. With more education about it he didn't like the idea, but would support me because he knew I wanted it that bad. Just be patient with your family. Good luck to you and let us know how things are going! -

I'm drinking my protein, vitamin water and soup. I feel full enough with that.

Today I am officially out of the 50s for BMI and I fit in 2x size scrubs again! I'm almost a week out and I am amazed at all the changes! I feel lighter and happier! Yay!

Lol, as my doctor keeps telling me... "nurses who nurse themselves will have a fool for a patient". I always want to smack him for that! -
Just don't know what to do....

Yup, I am doing well, and dropping pounds everyday! Not enough yet to see anything, but I definitely feel good. Good luck! -

He is just scared for your safety. My DH was the same way. And even until I just had it done, was opposed, but supported me because I was so set on it. Just be calm and keep explaining. He may not feel better until it is done and you are losing and becoming healthier. -
I got send home on day of surgery because of a small weight gain and the doctor didn't think I took the preop diet seriously. It was a high protein no carb diet. I was heartbroken and went crazy on sticking to it and lost some weight and finally got the surgery done. But I was devastated when it happened. I don't even like thinking about it.

Stitches Infected (Caution: Long)
Infernored replied to Ms Lady in NC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a horrible story! I know in my area, I think it is illegal for a hospital professional to even suggest you should have gone somewhere else for care. It's part of the COBRA laws where we treat everyone and can't discriminate for any reason. I hope you are feeling better. :/ -
blood pressure really dropping
Infernored replied to Margaret's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also want to add that it is good you keep checking your bp. We routinely check bps before giving bp meds. So long as systolic (the first number) is >90, it is usually ok to give. Some bp meds also can drop the heart rate so it is good to check that as well and make sure you don't go below 50. Some doctors may put different restrictions on the meds if you are prone to having you bp drop so it is always good to check. -

I'm a nurse and I like everybody's advice so far. Call the doc today. That's why they get paid the big bucks. -
That is great!!

My heart goes out to you. I don't know what I would do if I ever lost my brothers. I think he must be watching over you then.
-
Yeah definitely. You can go to the doctor's office and they have dermabond there so they can close it. After it is on, I can see letting it be "Open To Air" to heal.

Tightness in throat
Infernored replied to kalfin13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I'm sipping my fluids, I can have maybe 3 small sips in a span of 5 -15 minutes or else my belly gets really gurgly and I get burpy. Sometimes I feel a tightness not necessarily in my throat but in the top of my chest like I am most definitely super full. When that happens, I back off and don't drink anything again for at least 15 - 30 minutes. -
Counting days after surgery....
Infernored replied to Beadingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL!! I wish I could have been anonymous, but at the same time I know they really cared for me well. I couldn't really open my eyes yet in PACU and I was nauseated and only remembered talking when they asked me questions. I am going back to work on Tuesday so hopefully there isn't anything else to it besides that! LOL Besides that I am doing fine after surgery. I got to go home after one night and I am taking mostly tylenol for pain. Still getting used to this! -

Infernored replied to Coookies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been drinking EAS chocolate protein mixed with skim milk. Then I sip on a vitamin water. Then I have some kind of broth. That is what I've been eating this week since my surgery on tuesday. no problems! -

In the medical field, if you had surgery Tuesday, that is Day of Surgery. Then Wednesday is Post Op Day 1 and so on. -

Getting nauseaed watching hubby eat
Infernored replied to KabinKitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the opposite problem! My hubby comes home from his office and sits with me and I keep begging him to make something to eat and he won't. I am still on the full liquids post surgery and I have no appetite. I try to tell him that I'm not even jealous that he's eating and I'm not. LOL It will work out eventually!
