8 months Post op -- 122 lbs gone!
Infernored replied to juliarh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow!!! You are so inspiring. I am 3 weeks out and have been stalled the past 7 days. I have heard of this 3 week stall. I have lost quite a bit so far but sometimes it's hard to believe that I'm going to lose more. Especially when I eat something and feel so full! -
Is this my new normal or does this feeling change?
Infernored replied to 1-4-Many's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was still on liquids at that time. No worries. As you heal you'll be able to add more to your diet. I am 3 weeks out and I eat in very small amounts now. -
How Do You Get In Everything
Infernored replied to lkcraig316's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Start with the protein first and then add other stuff. I also keep my protein shake near me all day until it's gone and sip as much as I can remember. -
Yayyyyyy!!!!!! I am so excited! I started looking in my closet for more clothes to wear. I don't need to go shopping. I have plenty of clothes I've never even worn!
-
Yeah, I can't complain about that!

I have heard of those protein shots and I will look them up as well. Since surgery protein shakes don't taste as good as they used to. Before I had been no carb for months and the protein shake was like dessert! lol I think things will get better in time. It takes time for the body to heal and time for us to understand our new bellies. -
What Can I eat at the movie theater?
Infernored replied to Gayle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well if you are going to get a snack there, try the fruit snacks. I got the little gummy fruit and it lasted about the whole movie. If I don't do something like that then I stick to gum or nothing. -

Wow! That's crazy to not even be able to drink during the day. What kind of work is it? I work as a nurse and even we sneak in our water bottles because it's hard to go without. : / -
This sometimes happens to me at work since our breaks are timed. I drank a little too quick and too much and went to the bathroom with a cold sweat and upset stomach and hypersalivating. Now I don't bring anything heavy with me. Maybe just a little cup of applesauce or something. If I am going to eat anything more than that I save it for home.

Just you wait kelly! I was just like you. But it will work. Even now I might eat something and I feel like it won't fill me up but it definitely does!!! -
Hungry, or not...after surgery

Kelly, if I can be helped then so can you. I would eat until I got full and then eat more and then eat more after that. I always was full -

Yeah, I can eat 4 oz of applesauce and feel like I ate a huge thanksgiving dinner! -
Am I stretching my sleeve???
Infernored replied to samantha209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes it depends on what I'm eating. If I eat anything with potatoes in it, I can really only have a bite or two. Sometimes I can drink crystal light in bigger gulps and I have no problem, but only if I haven't eaten in a while. -
My surgery and my 14 year old daughter
Infernored replied to pickles789's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's hard for me to answer since I have not any children of my own. But I want to because I grew up overweight and as a teenager my weight surpassed my mothers who was also overweight. Being a teenager means thinking the world will be over past high school, being under intense scrutiny by classmates, trying to meet society's ideals... etc. No matter what her size is, at her age she will always want to be something "better". You've got to take care of yourself too, though. I would be 100% honest with her as to why you are doing it and how it will benefit you, such as having a longer and healthier life. You should encourage her to tell you how she feels about it because she will probably be very scared for your safety and may feel guilty/jealous when you lose weight. Good luck! -

Hey, we all have to vent sometimes! I come here for that since my husband doesn't really get it. I really haven't told my friends yet. Some of my coworkers know, but that's not helpful either. -
Post-Surgery Pants Question . . .
Infernored replied to lkcraig316's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wore yoga pants for week afterwards. I have a couple pairs of stretchy jeans that I wore to the store and then changed back to yoga pants at home. your stomach will feel bloated for at least a week from all the gas they pump in your belly. I brought pjs to the hospital and never wore them. The gowns are huge and I was wearing the air compression stockings on my legs. Too much hassle and when I was in the hospital, I just did not give a crap about what I looked like. I only stayed over 1 night instead of 2 because my pain wasn't too bad. I was out of bed and walking a couple hours afterwards too. -

Your body is freaking out like, where the hell are my calories!!!! LOL! Give it time. I get depressed too, like I expected my weight to fall off me and feel awesome automatically. Plus the weather is crap by me. Rain everyday and cooler than normal. I get bummed. My doc told me to aim for 1200cals a day and that seems unreal. I am going to try to weigh myself only twice a week. I am a freak about my scale too. Don't worry, it will come off. Try to relax! -
4 days out and WEIRD PAIN
Infernored replied to apple-saucy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that feeling a couple times and my doctor said it could be one of a couple things: 1. gas, 2. I'm full, or 3. acid reflux. I had it last thursday and it lasted a couple hours. I didn't have my gas-x strips with me and it went away after a while. -
It sounds to me like you are doing great! And you are much too hard on yourself! Look at all that is going right for you! No matter what there is going to be things that we wish we could change for/about ourselves so don't feel guilty. We will all still have good days and bad days. This surgery isn't a miracle fix where our lives will be perfect afterwards. I know that I've been pretty bummy since surgery because the weather has been crap. Cheer up, chick. You seem like you're doing awesome!

Learning about this new sleeve - TMI alert
Infernored replied to Beadingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This kind of happens to me too but I haven't thrown up yet. I am 2 weeks out now too and at work I eat something like applesauce on break. Well I try to slow down but it's hard. At home if I am eating the same thing I would leave the container on the counter and eat a bite when I walk by when I'm cleaning or something. If I don't slow down, sometimes it feels like I need to go to the bathroom. Sometimes I do just to see if it will help the pressure. I hate that feeling. It is just taking a long time for me to learn. -
I think everyone has it different with the loose skin. Some have lost a great deal of weight and not had problems with it, and I've seen some people loose 50 pounds and have saggy skin. As you lose weight just add in the toning exercises. Skin can shrink up to a year after weight loss also. I can't say I'll be dating after my sleeve since I'm happily married, but I'm sure things will get alot better for us anyway! Just make sure you are with someone you trust and stay true to yourself.

5 weeks post op - 18 years old
Infernored replied to Youngandwildresa93's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try drinking more and eating less. I know I eat less when I get all my fluids in. I drink 20oz of Protein drink, then at least another 20oz of crystal light or Vitamin Water. After I do that then I'll let myself eat something like applesauce or whatever. -
!!! MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT !!!
Infernored replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is so awesome! -
Did you have a drain? I had my surgery on the 12th and got my drain pulled yesterday. When it was in, my ribs hurt all the time (it was inserted just under my left lower rib). As soon as it was out my belly is alot less sore. But it hurt like a @%$@# coming out though. I get a little sore on the incision areas if I bend over or something too. Good luck!

Hungry, or not...after surgery
Infernored replied to SpiceyMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not necessarily hungry but it's more mental. Like when I would be sitting in the living room watching a movie or something, I would have a huge desire to be eating a whole bag of chips like I might have before surgery. I have found out, that my eyes are still, and even more so now, much bigger than my stomach. Just last night, I had an urge for softserve ice cream. I ordered a small, but the small is still really big. I barely made a dent in it and had to throw it out. In a way, I'm kinda grieving for the way I used to eat. It wasn't healthy for sure, but it definitely did satisfy an emotional part of me.
