  1. I originally posted this under the wrong forum so sorry if you see this posted twice. I went shopping for a new pair of jeans yesterday since mine needed to to washed after every wear to keep it shrinked down. I was still wearing the 22-24s since preop. I went to Lane Bryant and put on a 20 and it was loose! So I freaked out and grabbed an 18 and it went on perfectly! I'm still doing a happy dance. I get that Lane Bryant's 18 is probably way bigger than any other brand's 18, but it still feels really good!
  2. You may be really surprised! Can't wait to hear how you did!

    Clothing/size question

Totally agree with everyone here. It took a while to get out of my big clothes, and now I'm just noticing the differences. I was surprised because I had been wearing 24 jeans and yeah they were getting baggy so I needed new pants. Tried on a 20, and it was loose. Tried on an 18 and it was loose. I tried on a 16 and it was just right! Granted I have higher sizes of jeans that aren't quite right, possibly because some brands fit differently, and because they have no stretch. I'll take whatever I can get! Hang in there, it's coming!

    so discouraged

Don't be so down on yourself! I think we all get the surgery thinking it will fall off quick because are eating habits are drastically changed. I was pretty bummed for the first month and a half and then I realized, it's a life changing surgery, and it's gonna take time. I have only really started seeing major changes in the past month or so, and finally getting into smaller sizes. I kinda lose weight right around my TOM. As soon as it really gets going I lose a few pounds and might not see another drop for a couple weeks. Doesn't mean your aren't losing other places too. My face is alot thinner, and I've noticed my back is losing it's flab. So, even when I measure my waist and hips, it's not always visible that way too. Try to have some patience, and listen to your belly when it says it's full!
  5. I'm wearing the jeans right now and they are kinda loose! Not since I was a teenager have I worn a 16. Can't wait!!!
  6. Thanks everyone! The clothes with tags on them are probably from me. Lol!

    What do you think?

It's not bad. I went back after a week off. I'm a nurse and I work 10-12 hour shifts and I sip at work sometimes, other times on my breaks I just take my protein shakes and have them slowly. I don't feel like I'm sacrificing anything. It's easy to freak out before hand, but when your belly isn't letting you take in any more than a little bit, you adjust. Good luck!
  9. I had to go out and get a smaller pair of jeans since mine had to be washed after every wear just to shrink it back down a bit. I started out in 22-24 depending on the brand and was still wearing those sizes since preop. I went to lane bryant and tried on a 20, and it was easy to put on, and loose. I freaked and grabbed an 18, and it went on just perfectly! Granted that Lane Bryant jeans size 18 are probably the biggest size 18s out there, but still. It has been quite a long time since I've been down to that size. It feels oh so good!

    PCOS cured??

Thank you, my husband and I both had the testosterone tests done. I am not sure about the insulin one.
  11. My gyn said it seemed like I had PCOS even though I didn't have all the identifying symptoms because my period was so irregular. Sometimes it would last for months and months and then other times it would be gone for months and months. I wasn't ovulating, and even with prescription meds I couldn't either. Since my surgery 3 months ago, I have had my period like clockwork and they are not as heavy anymore. Thinking that by the end of this year we will be trying for a baby again!

    PCOS cured??

No need anymore. I'm not diabetic. things.are getting much better!
  13. My mom came over the day or two after I got home, but I made sure my house was clean before surgery. Avoid any kind of heavy lifting, such as laundry or vacuuming. I was pretty funcional postop. I could take care of myself, and went back to work a week later.

    Hair Loss

I'm 3 months out and just noticed the past couple of weeks that I'm pulling alot of hair out in the shower. I have heard that Biotin really helps, and many people take it early on post op as a preventative measure. All of those who I know who had this kind of hair loss says it's a pain, but not to worry and it will grow back.

    Throat feeling constricted?

My doctor told me that was acid reflux and if it happened regularly to get on an acid reducer medication. I've had it a couple times and next time I go I'm going to ask what he recommends.
  16. Yeah, I tried food.at work and I would feel kinda ill afterwards. Try it st home first until you know how much you can take. Also, if I do ever bring food, its pre measured in a little container so you can't overdo it.
  17. I don't chug the water. I might take 3 gulps in a row, and wait a little bit. Not too long, but enough so that I don't get burpy, or worse, vurpy.
  18. I was back to work a week postop and it's a busy walking all day kinda job (I'm an RN in a busy recovery room). Just to make things easier, even now at work I really only have my protein drinks and water/crystal light. I don't get hungry, but sometimes feel empty, but nothing a few sips of water/protein couldn't fix. If I'm going to eat, I'd rather be at home where I could actually enjoy it. I find that eggs and bananas are really filling. I can only eat one egg now, unlike before surgery where I probably could have had 4+. I found that all the activity decreased any soreness I had around my belly. Wear loose clothes, especially if you have a drain. Especially stretchy pants. Good luck, either way you do schedule yourself, you will do great!
  19. I think walking soon after surgery is good. My doctor had me up outta bed within hours of it being done, and I had to walk the halls at least every 2 hours. I couldn't sleep much anyway. I went back to work a week later and while I was slightly sore in my abdomen, I was noticing an increase in energy already!
  20. Finally, I am down to less than 100 pounds to lose! 15 more pounds until I'm halfway done!

    Loose Skin???

Alot of plastic surgeons won't do a tummy tuck or anything until the weight is off at least 1 year to see if your skin gets better on it's own. My sleeve surgeon asks us about our skin and if we are getting any infections or sores from it. If we are, he can do a tummy tuck for us and get it covered by our insurance.

    My first Restaurant Trip

I went out after surgery a couple weeks post op. I had iced tea I barely drank and barely half a bowl of soup. It was hard to see my mom eating the good stuff, but I was full and that is very good!

    Blood pressure 70/48

I'm so glad you were at your doctor's office when this happened. Many people have this problem post op if they had been taking blood pressure meds and lost weight. In the hospital, we always check a blood pressure before giving certain bp meds.

    Being Treated Differently

I totally agree here. I am what I am. Before surgery, I was very shy, timid around strangers, anxious in public. I rarely sought out my friends to get together. I was nervous about going out places. Now I can't sit still. I get anxious if I have a day off and no plans, I am more outgoing, more affectionate, more satisfied with life and happier. I can't completely blame others for how they may have spoken to me in the past when I offered them nothing in return.

    Fainting! Warning

I rarely drink, but I did have a grape vodka and diet sprite drink on wednesday and it hit pretty hard. I'm pretty sure I was buzzed-drunk after the first drink. It was so good that I bought the stuff for it and made it again last night. Again, I was woozy after 1. Never would have called myself a light-weight before surgery!
