Can't do anything about the waiting. I hated that part. I called my doctor's office everyday to check because I was afraid they forgot about me. lol

Awesome! I love these kind of posts! -
Yeah, I don't buy corn or carrots anymore. I buy the steamable bags of mixed veggies and salad kits. Sooper expensive though.

Anyone who has PCOS... (TMI)
Infernored replied to Infernored's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd consider metformin if I wasn't already going through the surgery process. I've got such an irregular and heavy period, the last two days I'm in the bathroom almost every hour. Trying a menstrual cup today, I just read about them last night. The one I have is disposable, and can last up to 12 hours. So far so good. I am looking into getting a reusuable one. I can't wait until my surgery in a couple weeks. It feels like I'm going through a rebirthing process where I will have a totally different life. I am very excited! -
My doctor has had me on southbeach diet since october. It was very hard during the holidays and since january it has gotten alot easier. I have protein shakes (EAS chocolate and milk) since I don't eat alot of meat, and it tastes like a snack to me. 23g of protein and 3g of carbs. then I just try to find a few simple things I really like and eat those primarily. maybe every once in a while I need a cheat, but then I do, and it's back to normal right away. I made my own stir frys (no rice of course), and sometimes have some fresh fruit, which after not having them for months was like heaven. soups are also really good, and filling. it's plain old torture, but it will get better soon!

Anyone who has PCOS... (TMI)
Infernored replied to Infernored's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for replying everyone! I am also looking forward to see how it will work after surgery. I've been following a somewhat strict low carb diet to lose my 5% before the surgery, so I feel that this will help. My doctor and I also thought it wouldn't be worth the risk to go on birth control until after surgery at very least. I haven't been on them in 7 years, so I'd like to not have to go back on them. -
I do have one problem!!!
Infernored replied to Losingnva's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm so glad I saved all of my cute clothes from when I was smaller. I have about 10 totes of them hogging up a spare bedroom. I definitely planned on getting back into them. I can't wait! -
Most pain medications can cause major heartburn if not taken with plenty of water and some food. Especially for medications like lortab, aleve, and motrin. Taking these medications and sitting up for at least half hour, along with water and a few bites of food will prevent the burning.

I went to my seminar last september, did my psych consult, blood and urine testing done, letter of intent to the doctor in, my primary doctor sent a letter in, met with NP last november, met with surgeon in january. I hadn't lost my 5% yet, so he sent me on my way and rescheduled for tomorrow. I tweaked my diet so I was focusing on protein more, increasing my exercise alot and have kept an immaculate journal including the times of the day when I was eating and making sure I had protein every time I ate. My scale shows that I barely lost anything. I am soooo afraid that he won't do anything for me since I haven't lost the 5% yet. Today I'm basically just drinking a couple protein shakes and vegetables and will do a little magnesium citrate tonight (can't hurt, right?). I'm praying so hard that he can still help me. My diet will show I've done everything he's asked. I'm just a wreck.

Yay! I went in this morning, and couldn't sleep that much. My total weight loss so far is 10+ pounds. My surgery is march 22! I am hoping to get my preop testing done this week. I meet with my primary next week. I have arranged all my work days so it works out. I'm beyond excited right now!!!!

I like EAS chocolate protein powder, I add it to milk and it's pretty good. I look forward to it, even. 34 grams of protein, only 3 grams of carbs. you can get it at Rite Aid if you are in a hurry and don't want to order online or go to GNC.

Getting a Surgery Date before being Approved from Insurance?
Infernored replied to Bryn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my doctor does it like this too. the doctors make you do so much and they have everything documented, so to speed things up for them and you, they file for approval while you are already scheduled. efficient is how I look at it. -
oooh yeah, my husband is also worried about going out to dinner and the future and how "awkward" that will be. oh please, it won't be awkward at all. It will be great. you get something small, and if necessary take it home. dinner time should be a time to reconnect with your family anyway.

You should be fine, I'm 5'7" and 330ish. I hate not having much room arm wise. When I fly with my husband, I infringe on his space a little and just try to be cuddly! lol once I was on a small jet and I had to sit separate from my husband. I was on the wall side, with a raise in the floor so my legs were up to my belly, and the guy next to me was bigger than me, and kinda creepy. very uncomforable. If I was flying and money wasn't an issue, I'd totally ask for a good seat (near emergency exits) for better knee room, and get 2. then you could spread out a little

Note for Mexico newbies
Infernored replied to DonnaG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would totally go to mexico if I could. I live in new york, my insurance covers it if I jump through a million hoops for them. so I will. out of pocket here is $29,500. ridiculous! My husband would freak out of I went to mexico since he's very worried about safety and risks. -
I eat when I'm not hungry
Infernored replied to StacyS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surgery cuts out 85% of the stomach, including the area of the stomach that produces the hunger hormone, Ghrelin. Also, you will need to eat more frequently anyway, you just won't have that urge to overeat since you'll be full. -
Pre Op weight loss
Infernored replied to ldydrgnkpr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesterday, I did so well with my diet. only fruits and vegetables. We are getting a storm tomorrow, so I stopped at the store on my way home from work this morning and I shopped HUNGRY. I go monday to hopefully get scheduled for the surgery. I will just accept what happened and move on. What kind of liquids do you take in on the liquid diet besides Water? -
My husband is against it too. There is no way he could fathom how this feels. My husband is tall and skinny. He is mostly scared because it's a voluntary surgery and why take unneccessary risks. Well, nothing else worked, and if I don't do this now, I may not be here very long. He has learned to respect my decision and we agree to disagree.

Liquid diet to lose weight before scheduling....
Infernored posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going back to see my surgeon on monday the 28th. I want to be sure I'm down enough weight where he will approve me for it so I'm going to start a liquid diet. no pop, no carbs, and extra protein (shakes). Has anyone else ever done this? I need to lose about 4 pounds, but would like to lose a little bit more just in case their scale is WRONG! lol, I wish they could just take my word for it. and if I was smart, I would have loaded my pockets with weights on the initial weigh in day. lol -
Liquid diet to lose weight before scheduling....
Infernored replied to Infernored's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I've totally stepped up my exercise. I do 20-30minutes of just dance 2, then I do walking or weight exercises. I may have to do that mag citrate thing. They give it to people for colonoscopies sometimes. lol. yeah, my surgeon is no-nonsense about the weight loss. he said I need to do my part for him to do his, or else forget it. it's the hardest thing I've ever done. -
I'm not too coordinated right now (hopefully will be more after surgery and weight loss!), and the wii sensor isn't very accurate. I am holding on to it for the future.

Paying for the sleeve myself...
Infernored replied to chesapeake girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW! I cannot believe the difference in the requirements between doctors! I know alot of people go to mexico and the process is relatively easy, but in the US it's alot different. Many insurance companies require 5-10% weight loss before surgery, and psych eval and bloodwork and mine required a personal letter of intent. I would love it to just be self-pay and get it over with since I'm having difficulty with the presurgery weightloss, but self pay for my doctor is nearly 30K. WTF! -
Scared that they won't approve my surgery
Infernored replied to sarahh1828's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't lost enough weight either, and my meeting with my surgeon keeps getting delayed. My ob-gyn says I have PCOS and that makes the weight even harder to come off. I've been doing no-carb (or very little carb) since last november. This sucks and I'm having trouble staying focused. Besides that I'm just anxious as to what might happen if I go back and not lose enough weight. I feel like I need this soooo much. -
oh my god, you are doing awesome!!!! I LOVE hearing such good news!
