Sick before surgery...
Infernored replied to Infernored's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems everyone is getting sick lately! I think it's because we had a day or two of mild temperatures and then it's crap again. Well, it's been 6 days so far. I am taking today off of work to recoup since I don't want to creep out my patients with my coughing and boogery nose. lol I am keeping positive. This is the first time I'm actually looking forward to summer! -
I feel horrible....Is really thinking was it worth it???
Infernored replied to Weightbgone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if taking in 8oz at a time is normal. We are supposed to aim for 1 oz at a time and work our way up. I hope you feel better soon! -
Day 17 post op, the frigging scale is broken!!!
Infernored replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those kind of scales need to have their weights back down to zero when you're done or else it may need to be "zero'd" again. If you put all the weights back to zero and the arrow isn't perfectly in line then it needs to be recalibrated. They told us this when I was in nursing school. Some digital scales have a button for this. -
Hey you might be young, but you should be able to live like you're young too. I'm 29 now and I wish I would have done this sooner. All I can say is 30 is supposed to be the new 20 and I'm looking forward to that. If you qualify for the surgery and you feel that it is right for you, then it will be!

One thing is for sure is you'll never go back to her again! If you have any length of hair left, maybe you could search for a new salon, and ask their opinion on what can be done? They can either show you how to style it in a way you like, or maybe cut it a little more to be more flattering. I have always had super long hair and have recently cut it short and I love it. It's like an asymmetrical bob, shorter in the back and longer in the front, no bangs though. And I dyed it red. I've noticed that a darker color hair complements me more as I am bigger. When I had blonde hair I just felt like a big beige blob. lol I'll probably go back after I've lost some weight.

3 months post op and question...
Infernored replied to ptoezee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could try taking a stool softener once a day to see if that helps. In the hospital, doctors usually prescribe it twice a day for almost everyone. Don't take it if you get diarrhea. If you starting having regular bowel movements and you still have pain, go check with your doctor. Do you still have your gallbladder? -
Hey all, I'm going to DisneyWorld for 4 days tomorrow to help my brother in law plan for his wedding coming up in October. I am nervous because I'm so heavy and I'm afraid of getting kicked off of rides. I have gotten kicked off a rollercoaster before when I weighed a bit less than this because the lap belt wouldn't latch across my hips (I'm widest around there). It was the most humiliating experience in my whole life. I know we are going to do some parks while we are there and hubby is supportive. I am trying to know before hand which rides to avoid because they are bad for bigger people. At least I will get plenty of walking in! If anybody has any input I would surely appreciate it. P.S.- I have my surgery in a couple weeks, so I am definitely looking forward to our trip there in October!

My aunt had her spider veins treated with saline injections after she lost a bunch of weight and some of them are gone and more difficult to see

Yeah, went to Disney for a few days and absolutely no problems! I pretty much forgot about my period most of the time.

You are doing awesome!!!! -
I have Just Dance 2! I really like it and it's fun. I got the wii zumba, but that was really hard for me, and if I just stood there and didn't move, the game would still say stuff like "you're doing great!". I am going to look into some other exercises for wii soon.

Going to Disney before Surgery
Infernored replied to Infernored's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! Just got back from Disney last night and it went better than expected. Thank you for all of your posts as I was reading them during my trip! It is true, the staff at Disney is remarkable and they really do take care of us bigger peeps. When getting onto rides, they ask how many people you have with you so they can place you in an appropriate line to get on the ride. Our group was 4 people, but if it was a smaller bench or something, they would break us up in 2s without missing a beat. They really went out of their way to make everyone happy! My only issue was that I am the heaviest in the group and I didn't want to be a Debbie-downer, so I really over-did it on the walking. One day I was walking almost constantly for 12+ hours. I was really hobbling like an old lady. My feet and my legs were killing me because I was too proud to tell them I needed a break. Anyway, I feel better now. And I'm looking forward to going back in October when my brother-in-law gets married. My surgery is in 11 days and I will be looking and feeling awesome by then! -
Pain in your chest when you swallow
Infernored replied to 9yearslater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I may not have had the surgery yet, but I'm a nurse who has dealt with patients with difficulty with this. Try eating a very small amount, using smaller utensils to help guide, even measuring spoons. If it ever gets worse, call your doctor. Mine warned me that a possible complication could be stricture, and they can dilate it open easily to prevent this. -
24 hours later..... Still awesome! Slept through the night with no worries!

My period has been irregular since I was a teenager. I could go 3 months without, or I could have it for 3 months + straight through, and very heavy also. Then again I have been overweight forever. I just started using the Instead menstrual cup yesterday (you can get it at Walgreens) and it has already changed my life. I change it ever 12 hours and no leaking, no messes and it's way more comfortable. WHY I haven't heard of this sooner is crazy to me. I've had my period now since december 5th, but now I barely even notice it. This alone has changed my life. I can't wait til surgery! Hope this helps!

I'm going on vacation in 3 days to florida. So it better work!! LOL, it's been in about 8 hours, no leaking, no pain, I really can't even feel it. It's AWESOME! Just this morning I was leaking and changing my stuff every 2 hours. I forgot for a while today that I even had my period! The Instead cups I bought at Walgreens. They didn't have any other brands or the reusable kinds. It's a 14 pack and they were right near the Pads in the store. I have a reusable one coming in the mail next week, so I'll make sure to let you guys know how that works. I really wish I knew about this sooner!

Sleeve in hopes of pregnancy also
Infernored replied to MissyG's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I'm in the same boat. I don't ovulate, even with clomid/provera. I tried that 3 times. I had hysterosalpingogram which said my fallopian tubes are good. They think I have PCOS. My periods are heavy and last for months. Today I have just started the Instead menstrual cup. I put it in around 11 am and no leaking or discomfort. It is supposed to be good for up to 12 hours. I'll change it before bed. They make reusable ones too, so I ordered one. I tell you, the past few days I had been doubling up on pads and tampons and leaking all the time, every hour or two having to change it. Today, I barely can tell I'm having my period. -
Look at my tracker!! hehe

Another disappointed bandster
Infernored replied to Jennet's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's disappointing because it's only recently that the sleeve has been becoming popular and recognized as a valuable weight loss tool. my insurance just started covering them in september so I am lucky. But early bandsters were not. my surgeon says he really prefers the sleeve because he has to do so many revisions with the band, and then the band has 15% likelihood of needing another surgery. -
Ok, so far this is great! It's 5 hours in and no leaking! I'm having a really heavy period these past few days where I was doubling up with pads and tampons and changing them a lot! Waking up 3 times a night because I'm afraid I'm leaking! All I can say is WOW!

Anyone who has PCOS... (TMI)
Infernored replied to Infernored's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for giving me hope that I may get pregnant after weightloss! -
Over the last couple years, my period has gotten super irregular. Just told I probably had PCOS and is the reason why we haven't been able to get pregnant these past few years. My periods are very heavy, unpredictable, and I have bled at times for 2-6 months at a time. My doctor said that really the only treatment is losing weight. I'm getting sleeved march 22. I just want to hear from any others who also have PCOS. Has it gotten better? Have you gotten pregnant?

I have a tendency to fly off the handle when people criticize me or if I don't feel I'm being respected or taken seriously. My husband had major concerns about safety, and at first I would kinda freak out of him. Then we went to a counselor to talk about it. We pretty much have come to the point that I definitely need surgery to help me, and I must accept that my hubby is scared and nervous for me. He also realizes this is my decision and knows that I have researched it properly, and he has also spoken with my surgeon about his concerns. That really helped him. And me. I'm no longer contemplating death or divorce. Life is good.
