Hello I live in Montreal and "got banded" last October. To be very honest , I would love to find people on the same boat. People that understand what it means to get a fill and how do you feel afterwords. People who like me has doubts on what to eat at home.. restaurants...etc. I am always afraid of eatting ( mind you I fight my fear and still do ) , but I am afraid I am not getting enough nutrition , or too much , or I am afraid it will get stuck. Etc.. etc. I wish I was not addicted to food. I love food ( otherwise a band would not be necessary) , I just need to learn what to eat ,when and how. I do believe I am getting there...I started at 265 , size 20. Now , 3 months later I am at 230 , size 16 ( yeay) . So... if you are in the same boat .. please keep in touch.

To fill or not to fill
Juliana1 replied to Russian_BANDit_inNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my doc's opinion , you have to do a fillwhen you go back to eat as much as you were before. Everybody is different , I had my first fill 2 months after my surgery and I did fine. Talk to your doc... and see . To be honest , by what you are saying , I don't think you NEED a fill now. -

When did you return to work?
Juliana1 replied to jlwoodruff82's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was off for 10 days total , to be honest , most days I was out shopping and enjoying my family. So I could go back before than that... Totaly upto you.. -
I had my surgery in October and lost quite a bit since... I am thrilled. So I set my goal at 145. When I went for my fill last week , my doc said that was unrealistic and my goal in relation to my 5,6ft should be between 180 to 170. And after being 267.... 180 is sounding pretty good! What you should keep in mind is your BMI... and a BMI of 30 or lower is the ideal.

I am so sorry to hear things are not going well. But hang in there , it will get better. I also got banded last October and so far going well , but I take it day by day. Make sure you are having enough calories , I would say around 1000 a day and drink plenty of water.I started dropping the pounds when I started drinking water. If that still does not work... talk to your doc. Good luck and keep up!

Worried - Surgery is Friday (has to do with pre-op diet)
Juliana1 replied to Julieannas_Mommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you should bring this up to your Doc. My pre op was 1 cup of veggies daily + 4 proteine shakes. In order to shrink my liver. I had a friend who did not follow the pre op , went for her surgery once the Doc was " in" he had to close her up an re schedule the surgery date because her liver was way too big and he did not have room to move around. It is rare that it happens , but I do think your doc should know about your meals before you go in. Good luck , I am sure it will all work out -

Banded 1/21 and need some help...
Juliana1 replied to SuzanneCollins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi First of all.. hang in there. Your surgery is too recent and you still need to get used to it. In my opnion , mind you , I am no doc.You started with solids way too soon. I think it took me a good 2 weeks to have blanded food ( like baby food) Try taking a few steps back , second , make sure that you are drinking enough Water , try aiming for 1 lt a day. It will help with your hunger And if you really really want to eat... go for something with Protein, cheese , egg , meats ( if you can ) , yogurt , milk and even oatmeal . That should keep you full longer. My doc told me I had to have 3 meals a day only... Forget it.. I can't I am still hungry in between meals and I still snack. But I try to go for healthier choices. I had my band done in October and so far 40lbs gone. You will get there.. you just have to get used to the tool. -

What's with all the burping?
Juliana1 replied to catthegrape's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right after my surgery I had a lot of gas , and my doctor explained to me that it was because in order to make some room during the surgery they blow you up with air. So now... the air is coming out. It is not a pretty image ... but it helps you understand. -
