    Hot Weather and The Band

I am in San Antonio too but I don't really stay outside very much at this point.

    May Bandsters Update

I was banded on May 26th and as of June 23rd had lost 12.6 lbs. I am only counting the weight from my doctors scales because I don't trust my home scale.. I didn't have a fill on June 23rd because I had such a good weight loss and was staying satisfied up to 4-5 hours after eating. I am going to water aerobics for an hour 3 nights a week

    zumba

see if your gym has Water aerobics. I am doing them 3 nights a week and it is a workout but not hard on your joints. Other than that..read up on toning and weight loss exercises. Good luck!

    Support Groups???

I would go to the support groups. Mine meets once a month and I found the first one I went to very educational.

just remember while reading the forums...some are negative, but more are positive. some people have bad experiences but that doesn't mean you will. Good luck on your journey!

    Feeling Discouraged..What's the point...?

the good part of the water aerobics...is there is the side to hold on to if you feel you can't and your body is almost weightless. and as far as people seeing your deformities..People are cruel and they are going to find something to talk about...but at least if they talk about the deformities you know it is something you have no control over..unlike our weight! Good luck!

    Feeling Discouraged..What's the point...?

check around and see if you can find Water aerobics and see if you can do those. I have bad ankles and knees and hadn't exercised in way too many years to count. Now I go 3 nights a week for water aerobics. My classes are an hour long and some keep moving all the time. I haven't made it there yet..but I will. Good luck

    Feelin blah :0(

Even though ice cream may not be the best choice, if all you ate was 1/2 cone, please don't beat yourself up about it. We are making changes not going to diet for the rest of our lives. I plan on eating things like cake and ice cream...when I am ready. I just know instead of a triple scoop I will have one or less. It's not about giving up things we love, its about eating healthy and limiting the quantity. I personally am only weighing once a month. Also the 2 lbs could be Water weight. Just pay attention to the other Non scale Victories....for instance...did you know when you lose weight your clothes get longer? Good luck!

    I cheated a little...feel so bad.

Everyone heals differently. Every doctor has different rules and really the rules for most doctors are just guidelines. If I were you, I would call your doctor and tell him how you are feeling. I went to my doctor a week after surgery and he told me I could eat anything I could tolerate...and that was not what the "rules" said. Don't beat yourself up...we all are going to cheat, but we all are going to get right back on track!

    removal of the lapband

find a lap band dr and talk to them. I think they would be the best one to take it out! Congratulations for your weight loss! Good Luck!

    here we go

why can't you eat with your family? I do...I just eat a lot less..Hang in there!
  15. A slush is basically sugar and water so you should be able to drink a small easily.....however, I personally have cut out all sugar, including my favorite cherry/limeade slush. As far as the mixed drink is concerned. You should be able to handle it, but be careful of any sodas...sometimes they can cause pain from the carbonation!

    Down 30 pounds since surgery!

Congratulations! I was banded on May 26th and am down 12.6 lbs. I didn't get a fill on Thursday since I have had a good weight loss and don't feel hungry again for at least 4-5 hours. I don't think I have real restriction, but am not worried about it. As long as I am not hungry all the time and losing I am happy. I am doing Water aerobic for an hour 3 times a week, from doing NO excercise. Keep up the good work!

10 days post op, same weight...

Trust your doctor. He and his office will be the best source of information for you. Like Dawn said, some people lose, some people gain and some people maintain the first couple of weeks.

    Eating Time

I have always eaten fast too. I have learned to slow down. I also have an hour for lunch. My support group recommends only eating for 20-30 minutes...and you should be full. I eat about 1/2 cup..or like one chicken thigh.

    Post Surgery Recovery

I personally had my surgery on a Thursday and Monday was Memorial Day and went back to work on Tuesday. Didn't move real fast but now I have been doing water aerobics for 3 weeks... Take all the time you want but I am sure you will be fine alone.
  20. I had my surgery on May 26th but I started learning back in February when I started going to the center. Just remember this is for you and no one else...yes there are some horror stories on here, but my guess is for every one horror story there are 10 success stories. Hang in there and just remember we want to live long and healthy lives.

it could take awhile...remember what goes in comes out.

    The carbonated drink myth

since my surgery on 5-26-11, I have bought one 20 oz diet coke and one 20 oz diet big red. I still have most of the diet coke in the refrigerator, it took me all day to drink the big red. My doctor said it was ok as long as I was slow in drinking it. To me the diet coke no longer takes good...and that was my drink of choice for YEARS.

    Aetna covers Lapband?

My plan didn't cover it in Dec 2010, but with the new plan year on Jan 1, 2011 it did!

    Aetna covers Lapband?

I have Aetna too and was banded on 5-26-11 and I only had to have 4 dr visits. Each plan is a little different. I would call and talk to them yourself.
