Non-Laproscopic Hysterectomy surgery pain vs. Lapband surgery pain
sweetpea61956 replied to perrysmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had two c-sections and the hysterectomy...the lap band surgery is a breeze in comparison! -
you look awesome! congratulations!
-
I think she needs to find another doctor..quickly!

I quit eating sweets..things with sugar..back in February before I had my surgery in May. I eat the sugar free popsickles and that is good...also skinny cow ice cream, but you still have to limit what you eat. At work we have birthdays with cake and ice cream about twice a month and then someone is always bringing in donuts or cupcakes. I pass it up...they say one bit won't hurt..but for me, it will....one bite leads to two, etc. I am not craving it..so I am not going to give in and start the craving...besides what happens if I take that bite and its not as good as I remember? I have dreamed I am eating M&M's...what a deal, I get to taste the chocolate but not worry about the calories!

Out of State Doctor
sweetpea61956 replied to JanPuppyLover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if possible I think it would be better to have surgery close by. you will probably need monthly appts and distance could serve as a bad thing. if you go by car to your second residence, probably not a problem at all. I have heard air travel is ok too but you need to check with the dr doing your surgery. -
Would you do the Lap Band Surgery again?
sweetpea61956 replied to CharmaneFischer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
even after hearing bad experiences from others...and there are bad experiences...I would do it again. For me, it works. I am a happy Camper! -

there is a woman in my support group who had the exact same thing happen. You won't be able to get a fill, but it will all be ok. -
being scared is normal. Just think of all the positives. More energy, new clothes, etc. It will be awesome.

4 days after Surgery, I need more than Shakes ???
sweetpea61956 replied to Ask4me1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doctor and explain how you are feeling. He may tell you to change what you are eating -
with the band you are changing what you eat, how fast you eat and portion size. The band helps with the portion size if you eat healthy and eat slow. It doesn't mean you can never have ice cream, etc again..just not very often and smaller portions. You need to exercise too

new here...terrrified
sweetpea61956 replied to paul atreides's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I eat spicy foods all the time, but I have heard others can't. I told everyone and everyone, even if they didn't totally agree have been really supportive...but remember I am 55 and have had about 40 years of obesity. -
thanks, I go back on Tuesday to see if they are going to do a fill and then weigh. I haven't had a fill yet and not sure I want one yet. If I can do it without a fill, I would rather wait until I feel I need one. Keep up the good work.

a little frustrated
sweetpea61956 replied to lmdabbs123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
just remember that when you don't lose pounds you will lose inches. are you doing any exercise? -
I would do the 45 minutes first and tell them about the band. Since you have already had it, they will deal with it.

Shopping Frustration...
sweetpea61956 replied to Daizee3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
the good part is you can go "shopping" in your own home and not spend any money. All those clothes will be new to you again. It is an awesome feeling. Good luck. -
Swimming after lap band surgery
sweetpea61956 replied to Libby_160's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started going to water aerobics about two weeks after surgery, but alot of it depends on how YOU heal. -
I tried the recumbent bike..uh..warmup was 7 minutes...I made it two minutes. But I have been going to water aerobics twice a week for an hour. See if they have a quick start program where you get a free trainer for one visit to set you up a program.

I would ask your doctor why...maybe go talk to a dr or clinic that specializing in the lap band. Me...I am 55 and was around 150 pounds overweight, more if you go with my "ideal" weight. I chose the lap band for the following reasons. 1) recovery time 2) reverseable 3) it made me do some of the work myself 4) I wanted to lose slower and give my skin a chance to catch up. I don't want a tummy tuck if I don't have to. 5) hospital stay was shorter. I would definately get a second opinion if your current doctor isn't agreeable.
