I have been off track since summer. I didnt gain in the summer so that is a victory. But I am up 4 pounds in the last six weeks. I know that I snacked way too much and moved too little. After a while I kind of took the band for granted and stopped measuring and really thinking about my food choices. When I want to eat junk it goes down very easy and when I eat what I am supposed to then I get full quickly. So for me there is no snack on the junk regardless if I am stressed or a holiday or whatever. I joined MFP to really track what I eat and how much I move. Today I went to the store and bought myself some supplies (veggie burgers, SF pudding, and other) to motivate me to make the right choices. I also downloaded some new Itunes songs to motivate me to move more. I feel more incontrol and feel optimitic to each step forward. This is a process and you will stumble and even fall but keep going. Little steps make a big difference. This weeks goals for me is to stay below 1200 cal eating what I should/Take my vitamins/Exercise in the morning to set the tone for the day. Oh and Water water water. Chin up and move on. If you are on MFP or anyone else my login is adak429 would love more friends.

doodlebugsmom replied to surfmama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep Yep there is! It is on Hulen. It has tiny parking though but we go every couple of weeks. I noticed we have the same doctor! Yay!!! -
I sent friend request to each of you. Under adak429 just so you know. I have had mine for a few months but stopped wearing it daily and am trying to get back on track.

You are my hero!! I have been such a slacker lately with regard to exercise. It is my goal to run a 5K at Thanksgiving time frame. I have to get back to the gym and you have given me some motivation to do so today. Thanks!!
-
Just an update! I did day one of Couch to 5K. I completed it and couldnt believe it. I know to many that seems silly but this would have never happened a year ago. I am ready for day two on Wednesday! Thanks for the motivation.

I got their Greek Chicken Lettuce Wraps with Olives, Feta Cheese. I think it is an appitizer but comes with three wraps. I usually eat one and take the rest home. Yummy Yummy but dont know the calories in it. -
You guys are really helping with the motivation here. I have been stalled for three weeks since we came home from vacation. Monday the whole family is going to the gym. I got the couch to 5K ready to roll. I am sure I will need to repeat some weeks but I would like to work up to a 5K. I dont need fast just to be able to finish. I have set a goal to run the Jingle Bell Run this Holiday season. As someone who has never NEVER run anywhere this is a challenge. Ready for the challenge and to try something new. Hugs!!!

Just Wanna Kick Myself In The Arse!!
doodlebugsmom replied to angelblessed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are struggle on some level. I remember that two weeks after my surgery my husband made fajitas for the family which I could not eat because I was just getting into mushies at that point. The house smelled sooooo good and I was so upset that they were getting to eat it and I wasnt. I was made at him for preparing something that he knew I loved. I knew that it is a few months I could eat some fajitas if I wanted them but it didnt matter. I went into the bathroom at 4 in the afternoon and loaded the tub up with bubbles and cried. Mind you the Water was not even enough to cover anything as I wasnt allowed to get my belly wet. I sat there in the water that wasnt enough to clean and infant but I cried and cried. I had to let it out and when I was done I put lotion on my legs and arms and felt a lot better. My husband cleaned up everything and had made me some refried Beans with a little of the fajitas sauce. My point is that most of us have had these moments. The moment that I described was my first but not my last for sure. Right now you have no restriction and have to white knuckle it and it sucks because you are hungry but you will get adjustments and the feeling will pass. You have come so far and now you have to have a little willpower to make it through the next few weeks. You are on a journey and some days will be harder than others but you can do it. The power is inside you. Show yourself and your family who you really are. -
Eating My Food Routine After 11 Mos Of Being Banded
doodlebugsmom replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe you are getting worked up about food and stressing you at meal time. I definately push the Water before a meal. (Not right before but within an hour) I find that if I do not drink then my pipes are a little dry. I am still a work in progress and still have a way to go but I can share my experience. If I am eating chicken it has to be dark meat or some kind of sauce-for me that is low calerie ranch typically. I always eat my Protein first and wait between bites. I chew-chew-chew. Really a lot of time I just get bored chewing and find that I am done before my plate it empty. Soup is an easy food for me but the ones I like are cream of something and within and hour or two I am hungry again. It is interesting that when you get the hiccups then you can eat. When I get the hiccups it is a clear sign to STOP you have eaten too much. It is my bodys way of getting food moving. If I throw up I dont eat again for a while. I dont care if I am hungry or not. I dont like that feeling and dont want to risk it happening again. Luckily it hasnt happened in months for me. It is a journey and slow and steady weight loss means your body has time to adjust. I wouldnt focus on the number even though we all do at some point but focus on how you feel. Even in the beginning I didnt take longer than 30 minutes to eat. -
How Long To Wait Between Fills
doodlebugsmom replied to workinprogress0180's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor has me wait a month in between fills. My insurance wouldnt pay for anything closer than that anyway. Also for me I seem to feel the fill about a week to 10 days later. Now that I have been banded for a while I dont get fills monthly. My last fill was in October and I dont feel the need to get another fill. I am loosing but slowly and I eat like a normal person now. Not too much and not too little. -
So Frustrated...
doodlebugsmom replied to bri_belcher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not alone my friend. It is sad. My family made fajitas in front of me while I was just a few days post banding. I went to the bathroom and got in the tub. I barely had any water in it as a bath is a post op no no. I kept my incisions dry and poured in the bubble bath. I cried and and I cried with my luke warm water that wouldnt clean a two year old but it made me feel so much better. Sometimes I personally just need a good cry to pull myself up by my bootstraps. When I came out the kitchen was clean and the aroma was gone. It gets better I promise!!! Hugs to you. -
During the holiday (Nov-Dec) I stalled on my weight loss too. I didnt gain much (maybe two pounds) and while that doesnt seem much to me it was a lot. I had to reflect on why I wasnt loosing. I put off excercise until tomorrow and I snacked between meals. I dont regret it because I think the whole process is a learning experience. So once the kids got back to school I got back to putting me on the list. I work out even when I dont want to. I make myself go to the gym and if after 20 minutes I am still not feeling it I tell myself I can leave. I havent had a fill since October and was beginning to think maybe I needed one and told myself to wait until February after a month of listening to my body. I am now three weeks in and I am down 4 pounds and I actively look for signs that my body is full. (I ignored them during the holidays must have been that loud Christmas music) So I dont think that I need a fill at all I just needed to clean my ears.

I Want To Eat Cereal!!!
doodlebugsmom replied to spoiledbratt97's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat kashi cereal several times a week. I had avoided cereal because I thought that I wouldnt feel full or satisfied. I am pleasantly suprised that I can feel full and it does go down with no problem. I dont wait for mine to get soggy either as I find the crunch helps me to make sure that I chew really well. Just eat healthy types of cereal and you will be fine. -
How Often Do People Weigh Themselves?
doodlebugsmom replied to Gizmo29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh myself every morning. I have been in a rut for the last month with very little weight loss. My clothes feel so much better though so I think it is a win. I used to feel that I had no control of my weight and now with weighing myself I feel I have a sense of control. I dont get too frustrated if my weight is up but I reflect on the day before. Did I eat too much? Did I drink enough water? Did I move my butt? Usually the answer is the reason for a weight gain. I resolve to do better and move on. -
I really like the Kashi cereal. I had surgery last March and just started back with eating cereal. I kept seeing the commercial about the Kashi cereal has a much protein as an egg. I tried it and it is sweet enough for me and keeps me full til lunch. I only eat one cup and lowfat milk. I havent had any problems with it.

What did you first eat?
doodlebugsmom replied to feliciadawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first thing that I ate was a scrambled egg. I remember how excited I was just for an egg. When I was on liquids I kept dreaming and thinking of Milk Duds and Corn Nuts. Every night I would tell my husband how much I missed then and describe the salty and sweet combo. It was like porn I swear. But then once I could eat food again it went away and I can tell you I have probably eaten each of those (one there own) maybe twice. The urge for sweets and junk pasted for the most part. Halloween was a challenge but I walked away from the holiday eating three of four pieces of candy compared to my usual TWO POUNDS of candy so I consider it a great success. Just know that know your mind is playing Jedi mind tricks on you. And lastly, I can still eat Pasta as long as I go slowly. I always eat my protien first and then a sample (1/2 cup or 1/4 cup of pasta after) so I dont feel deprived because that is when I eat poorly. -
Advice or Suggestion .. please
doodlebugsmom replied to Amanda Mae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have told me immediate family and very few friends. When I had surgery I was in a school setting and most people knew that I had surgery. I didnt hide it and I didnt broadcast it either. But as I lost weight people stared to make it appear as thought it was easy to loose weight with the band. It was almost as if I was defending myself that it was still work and a choice everytime I put food to my mouth. I think that sometimes people forget that the band still comes with food choices and struggles. And on the rare day that I ate something sweet or whatever I would have all eyes facing me like my jury. It was too much. I have since moved to a new job and I havent told the people that I work with. I dont know that I ever will. -

What do you want to do when your skinny (or thinner)
doodlebugsmom replied to helen098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me this journey has opened up my eyes to allow myself to dream and know that I can do it with time. I would like to go ziplining. Wear high heels and not feel like I am going to topple over See my collar bones (Not scary thing just visiable) Buy a few Ann Taylor clothes in a Med/Large because I feel that a few pieces would last a long time. Get to the point that whenever I eat something like a yogurt ice cream with the kids that I dont have to worry that people are thinking that I shouldnt be eating that. Why I care I dont know. My husband has always made me feel good about myself but I would like to plan a nice night out in a dress and have me take his breath away. -
I am glad that you have checked in with us. I live in the Fort Worth area myself and this summer has had all of us stuck in the house for long stretches. Hopefully this weather that we have this week will stay a little while. I think that you have done great since you were only banded in April. I hope that you continue to feel better.

Eggs! Making me nauseaous!
doodlebugsmom replied to graphix1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one of those people who are tighter in the morning. I can eat one egg that is fried. I have trouble with things that are too dry and the yolk of a hard boiled egg is just too dry for me. My sister in law couldnt eat a fried egg at all without it getting stuck until she started adding salsa to it to make it wetter so to speak. It is a challenge sometimes to find what works and what doesnt. Then when you think you have it down and get a fill it changes again. -
Wow you have something really to be proud of. You look so confident and happy. I am really happy for you.
