    One-derland!

Woo Hoo, Go Pancake. I made it there myself this morning. I bet you are still doing your happy dance. I was stalled out for 2 months. I can't wipe this smile off of my face.

    What is going ON?

Mine did that after surgery too. Then about the third week the swelling went down, I gained a pound and the hunger really came back. I ate a lot of creamy soups during that time with some added no flavor protein powder and it was the best thing I ever ate. Now, when I go get a fill it is pretty snug for a couple of days and I have to revert back to the same thing. The gugling only last for me for about 3 weeks too but I will get it from time to time after a fill. You're on your way sunshine and it's all normal. If it's too tight and you can't get water down, then call your doctor. I also drink Muscle milk too. It helps with the hunger if you are too tight to eat anything. I just had a fill Tuesday and it's pretty snug. I tried eating a bite of something yesterday and it irritated it and I was a little swollen last night. I was sliming and had to sip my water and muscle milk slowely. This morning it is still tight but it feels better.
  3. I'm in the same spot. Been here for 2 months and it's frustrating. I have looked at my diet, made changes and upped my protein, changed up workout routine, and nothing. I'm just keeping on keeping on, the best I can and know it will eventually change. It's sucks because I am 2 lbs from onederland.

    facebook

I wish they did too. I have tried the chat on here several times and can never get it to load. Here is my facebook link if anyone wants to join me on facebook. All of my friends and family know I have had lap band surgery. https://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100000356010952
  5. I think mine has become exercising. I used to hate it but I loved going out dancing. Now I get that same high from jogging every morning and when I miss, I don't feel as good the rest of the day.

  7. How wonderful. My 1 year bandaversery is coming up on Feb 23. I find that I have really been pushing myself lately and am starting to have momentum. I haven't had any problems with my band but my dr. adjusted my thyroid meds in August and I have stalled out until this last week. Kind of been aggrivated by it but I keep on going. My focus lately has been on making more muscle. I stalled out with 5 lbs to go till wonderland, so I think that made it a little worse. I understand how you feel. This morning I was down to 201.8 so I keep hoping I'm going to see it next week, or at least before Thanksgiving. My husband's best friend has been staying with us and he and my husband and son have had bags of candy laying around that they are munching on from Halloween and I have had the power to resist now. woo hoo, come on wonderland.
  8. My biggest NSV is finally feeling some confidence. I'm 5'1" and was weighing in at 263. I was miserable. I hated the way I felt physically all the time. It was difficult to get out of bed and I absolutely hated looking in a mirror. This morning I was down to 201 and wonderland is so close but in the past couple of weeks, the weight loss has slowed to a crawl but I am toning my muscles and realized that I feel good when I pass a mirror and when I am out in public, I don't feel so out of place and want to hide. I also finally got into a pair of 16's. All of this is wonderful. I also have a few friends who have been inspired by my success, and are wanting to have surgery. I'm giving them all of the knowledge I have and cheering them on. So for me, having some confidence and allowing myself to realize how far I have come just feels good. Now, I am pushing myself harder to make it the rest of the way but I'm not beating myself up anymore for being a failure.

    Post op fatigue

I have never had fatigue but since surgery, it has been bad. I kept trying everything I could to find out what was causing it. My endo changed my thyroid meds and I kept swearing that this had something to do with it but he kept saying no. I would be so tired that I would go walking for an hour and have to take a nap, do some laundry, another nap and I just felt run down all the time. I kept compalining to my husband that I couldn't live this way. Right after surgery he kept saying for me just to take it easy and let my body rest. I tried but I wanted results. So, for the past 7 months, I have just dealt with it. The other day, I was fed up and started back tracking what I had been doing since surgery and discovered that one thing I had added to my diet since surgery was Crystal Light. I was reading the box and saw that it has Aspartame in it. I knew my son was allergic to it. I stopped taking it and for the past 4 days, I have not been tired.
  10. I am not there yet but I have read on many of the body building sites that if you keep losing weight and get your body weight percentage low enough that the skin tightens up. Most of them say that you need to keep toning for up to two years after the weight loss to see this happen. This gives me hope. I'm just going to keep on keeping on. I saw a friend the other day that started out at over 400 lbs and she had bypass surgery nearly 10 years ago. She said she just kept toning and working out and she doesn't have any loose skin now. It sure gives me hope. I've really been upping my workouts. The weight loss is still slower than I would like but when I jog, I really push myself to take longer strides. When I ride my recumbant bike, I crank up the resistance and when I work out with my weights, I keep jacking up the reps and when I can do a certain number, I increase the amount of weight. I am really starting to see my tummy disappear and when I stand now, I can tell that my posture is different and when I walk, my wiggle is different.
  11. I've got the tired thing going on too and it's annoying. I was banded in Feb and feel like all I do is eat, work out, and sleep. I'm on Cytomel (t3) and doctor just put me back on Synthroid too. It seems a little better sometimes, other's not so great. seems the only way I can get any energy is to live on 5 hour energy drinks and then sometimes I can take one and go take a nap.
  12. Best of luck to ya. I've been banded since Feb. I think we all went through the nervous thingy before surgery and I promise, no matter how much you read, it's never as bad as you fear. We'll all say prayers for ya and you will be just fine.

    Pizza??? (no crust)

I will have a slice every once in a while if my band will tolerate it. Sometimes when it's almost time for a fill, I can eat a few bites of a thin crust pizza, other times, I have just dabbed the excess grease off the top with a paper towel and had the cheese and toppings. I'm down 60 lbs since very end of feb.
  14. Here is a recipe someone on here shared a while back. It's really good. 1 pack swiss miss sugar free hot cocoa mix 1/2 cup milk skim 2 tablespoons Peanut Butter couple of teaspoons splenda several ice cubes scoop of no flavor Protein (I use any whey from GNC). mix in blender, makes 2 servings. about 250 calories per serving and very filling.
  15. Mine is really close to the surface too. The needle they use for the fills are not that long.

    Breaking a stall

I've also been stalled out with no weight loss for nearly 2 months. 3 days ago I really upped my protein and have eaten almost no carbs at all. If I had any carbs, it was on accident. Anywho, I've lost 3lbs now. I also work out every day for an hour.

    Mental hungry's

I found several tricks that really help with the head hunger. I used to like to have something sweet after supper. I got some regular fudgecycles. They are 40 calories each. Then I also keep me some sugar free Worther's originals around. I eat them sometimes. Then I also found some sugar free watermellon and lemon flavored drops and they really help when you just want something to munch. You might also try eating sunflower seeds that you have to shell. Pickles are also really great when you want something crunchy. I keep those and olives in the refrigerator and grab me a little tiny 1/2 cup bowl if I just want to chew.
  18. Ok, Ok, I'm so excited. I've been stalled just 5 lbs away from wonderland for over a month. I have stopped beating myself up and have just been enjoying continuing with what I'm supposed to be doing. So...................today I go shopping for pants, since all I have been wearing is capri's and it's starting to get a little cooler. I thought I was going to try and squeeze into a size 18 and pray I could get them buttoned but as it turned out, I didn't have to even squeeze into a size 16. I could have almost turned a cartwheel in the store. Woo Hoo, go me. It is so exciting to have a place to come and cheer. Most people just can't seem to understand the victory.

    First consultation tomorrow:)

I wasn't self pay, fortunately but I can tell you that the money you will save in food every month will pay any payments. I bet we save $350 a month now, and I have a teenager and a skinny butt husband, both of whom can put away some groceries. As for the port. Mine has always been close up under my skin but it has not been a problem at all. I've never bumped it or hurt it or anything. It's actually even pretty cool to feel it. I sleep on my stomach at night too and it has never been an issue past the first two days post surgery. Good luck. I sure love mine. I'm down 58 lbs and got into a size 16 pants today. I started at 263.
  20. My surgery was Feb 23, 2011, and I thought I was going to pull out my hair before the date actually got here. You will still have to work to get it off but it is so worth it. I'm sure your surgery will be just fine. Like one of the other poster's said, my surgery began and was over before I knew it. Took about 45 minutes and the healing goes pretty quick. Good luck to ya. I still fill this was the best decision I've ever made. I'm down 58 lbs now and can cross my legs.
  21. Hey, I'm in longview too. Let me know if ya need a buddy.

  22. Thank you guys. I started off in a tight 24. I'm only 5' 1", and weighed 263. My surgery date was feb 23 and I'm down 58 lbs. It felt at the time like I would never see this victory and you all know what a struggle it can seel like at times.
  23. That is awesome. I've stalled at 5 lbs away from wonderland for over a month now but today I went to the store and was going to by some pants since it is starting to get cooler and I thought I was moving into an 18 but I could actually wear a 16. Woo Hoo, I'm in normal size clothes now.

Dr said I am the problem

Have you tried warm liquids? I like having my band tighter because it just makes me feel better but I can't eat anything solid until about 3 p.m. I get up and have coffee and it helps my band feel better. Then when I work out, it makes the band feel tighter. I get really hungry in the morning and will have a glass of milk or a protein shake and then by the after noon, I can usually eat normal food. If I eat mushy stuff, it seems to get stuck more easily than if I eat something solid. I guess it is because my band is tighter and the mushy stuff clings and gets clogged up easier than chicken or fish or any meat. I have just had to learn what I can eat and when. In the mornings, when I know I am tight, I may even just have a piece of sugar free candy for the flavor.I also know that i can usually have some of the Special K chip crackers. Something in the way they break down will let them go through the band when nothing else will. It keeps the hungar away and doesn't have a lot of calories.
  25. I felt so good about my surgery until the first time my husband made hamburgers on the grill and I realized I couldn't have one. I went through about a week of grieving food. I was banded Feb 23, 2011 and today I am down 58 lbs. I can tell you that I had to find ways to trick myself into not feeling deprived. Some of the things I did early on and what I still do after a fill is get some sugar free popcycles or some fudge cycles and they make me feel normal and a bit naughty. The fudgecycles only have 40 calories per serving and they are really good. I still have one some days after I eat my meal. My family may have a bowl of ice cream or cake or something else and I am fine with my little serving. I can say that in the 6 mths since surgery, I am so glad I had this done. Early on I started using one cup size bowls for my food and eating with coctail forks. I also buy paper plates and I buy my family the bigger ones and I use the smallest ones like you would serve cake on for a birthday party. This is my norm now. Once I adjusted my serving dishes, I put my amount of food on there and I still geel like I am eating as much as I was before until I see my husband's plate and I know I am not getting as many calories. I also still get sugar free candy and suck on from time to time. I get the sugar free Worther's Originals or some sugar free watermellon or lemon drops and I still get to enjoy the flavor and it also helps with the hungar pangs. I also sometimes get the sugar free butterscotch pudding after a fill and add some tasteless Protein powder to it. Talk about a great feeling. I feel like I am cheeting but the weight keeps dropping off. Please post an update when you are feeling better. The first time I crossed my legs or could sit with my leg folded up in my office chair, I nearly cried. Now I keep taking up my pants and getting new clothes and laugh about the time I was grieving over not being able to eat as much. I promise you will get there.
