You Can't Go Back
missmeow replied to Suprisedtobesleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How did you end up with a surprise sleeve? A slipped band should be band removal not stomach removal??? I don't believe in abstinence only, but slipping in to bad habits that are hurting you because you are upset about the situation is not good. Have you tried talking to a therapist about what happened? -
Want to hear something insane?
missmeow replied to IAMLU's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I did a liquid diet before, there was a long stall and they kept telling me that you will hit periods where you're losing fat but retaining water. When that happens, it looks like a stall, but then you lose like 10lbs overnight. Lol guess you got the woosh! -
A lot of people see it negatively. Also, a lot of men don't want a fattie. If you're a fattie once, you can be one again. Kind of damaged goods thinkibg.

Calling All March 18 Sleevers
missmeow replied to Melinda1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My paperwork doesn't have the time written on it but I am thinking I remember about 10:00 or maybe it was 8:00. I'm going to have to call them anyway because I have the worst cold and need to get over it quick. I didn't request the single incision, so I am going regular. How is your diet going? The smoothies are disgusting. -

The Good, the Bad, but Mostly, the UGLY

Are the shots for two weeks standard for everyone? -
I'm freaking out too. It just doesn't seem real to me. I don't know how I am going to deal with "2 bites" and "sipping" that freaks me out more than surgery itself. I don't want to go all mental because I can't get my stomach back. Well, maybe when 3D organ printing technology is around but by then I will be all old This pre-diet is mostly ok, but then I start thinking of food because I am hungry and then I am like, FARK I won't be able to eat a sandwich ever again ever! I know it's irrational. I've seen the youtube's of people eating pretty much whatever they want. But I still have that bit of mental block. The sad thing is, I am not normally food obsessed. In fact, I am pretty much to the point after food funeraling that food is gross and I am tired of it. I think this liquid diet is messing with my head. In all seriousness, I am freaked and don't know if I am going to make it to the table.

Why am I hungry all the time?
missmeow replied to awalexander2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're moving into maintenance, then maybe its time to get offthe low carbs and eat more fruit and veg? A balanced diey may help. -
It depends on technique too. Mine uses a 34 but gives it some slack (about a38) then oversews. I think they all end up about the same and it really drpends on the length.

Why is protein so important NOW? Can anyone explain?
missmeow replied to sirensiren's topic in Food and Nutrition
During weight loss, you are on low calories. The Protein helps in healing and keeps you from cannibalizing muscle, such as heart muscle. Keep the protein high and you ensure fat loss without muscle loss. During maintenance, which I am assuming is the question since the OP is 1.5 years out, I have no idea. I would guess that given the limited portion size the protein keeps you satiated and less likely to snack. -
Did you keep your surgery a secret?
missmeow replied to KanesMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not even about being tough--I am a pretty tough cookie. It's more about the fact that it is my personal business and not open for commentary. My body doesn't belong to anyone except me and frankly, I find the fact that people will openly comment on someone's weight loss or gain distasteful, kind of in the same way you wouldn't go up to someone and say "gee, your tits look big, did you get implants" or "wow, your skin is really tight, how much was your facelift?" Kind of the same level of tacky to me. -
Depends upon how "backlogged" I am. Bah dump bump. *crash*

I need to whine - dress sizes
missmeow replied to thehappycat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In general, about 10lbs for sizes under 14, and 20-30 for plus sizes. Also depends on the maker and materials. -

Any March Sleevers?
missmeow replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is March 18th. I start my pre-op on the 4th. Thankfully, it is not 100% liquid so I should rock it. I am going to the NEW program with Dr. Braverman. I alternate between chickening out and total kid on Christmas day excitement. -
Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under
missmeow replied to ladymacwhiz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How fast is everyone losing? I have my date set and am starting to get excited. I want to lose at least 100lbs. -
Why not lie, either straight up or by omission? People shouldn't be asking in the first place. Our bodies do not belong to the public. We are under no obligation to say our personal medical history, especially when we know the fat shaming culture we live . I plan on repeating back the question until the person gets it that I'm not answering. Ive done out before when on diets. Its no ones business. "You lost weight, how did you do it?" "Oh I lost weight"

Seriously doubting that i should get the sleeve right now

Try another surgeon and see if it puts your mind at ease. -
Maybe someone here would like them? They pay for the flat rate box and you stuff it full of goodies.

What type of fish can I eat a semi large portion?
missmeow replied to Iweeny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto that. Its noone's business what you are eating or if you had surgery. It is a total irrelevant overshare IMO. Also, people do watch what others eat, particularly women. I know men might not have experienced it, but there are social expectations and sanctions on women's eating that are often very, very subtle. Just like a man can be overweight by 50lbs before he statistically sees loss in pay--for women, its much lower. Women are more likely to have faced stigma while eating hence the desire to appear as normal as possible. Besides who likes there eating habits to become the center of the convo? -
Eating With People Who Don't Know About My Sleeve
missmeow replied to alw1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They smoke and do drugs, essentially the opposite of your current lifestyle on top of being buttholes to you? Why do you want go out with them? Seriously, tell your hubs to enjoy the dinner and stay home, or figure out some other activity that doesn't revolve around food. You don't need that nonsense. -

missmeow replied to alw1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can just not go? Just because soneone offers doesn't mean you have to take them up on it, especially if they make fun of you or make you feel bad. You don't need that carp when you're healing. -
Omg, I had crazy ass dreams about food when I was on a medical liquid diet. One of the reasons I quit and failed. :'(
