    Halloween Weight loss Challenge

I'm at 156. I think my first weight was 162.
  5. 60lbs since surgery, 75lbs since the pre-op. I wanted to lose about 108lbs from my pre-op or 100lbs from surgery. So about 60% weight loss which is considered the average for this surgery in the final count. If I get to 80%, I will be happy and consider myself at goal as I will be under a BMI of 30 and that is the "goal" for my doctors.

I did a bad bad thing.

Talk to your doctor about your inability to comply with your program. If you cannot do it now, at a time when compliance reduces your chances of a life threatening complication, you are going to have a very hard road ahead of you. If you can get with your team's surgeon and psych, you can get yourself on a healthy path. liquids are only 2-4 weeks. It's doable.

    BCBS Federal Standard option

    Mine was approved quickly.
  10. 1) Never had this problem. The "sippy" phase is right after surgery and only lasts about 1-2 weeks. My doctor's notes say you should be able to drink 16 oz in an hour right after surgery, but for me, I had to concentrate to do that. Around week 10 or so, I was able to drink normally and get in my 20 ounces in an hour taking my sweet time. I could probably go faster but I am not a big drinker. I drink 60-80 ounces a day now. 2) You won't have room to drink/eat if you are eating dense Protein. Now crunchy naughty carby stuff, yeah you can drink and eat, but you don't want to get into that habit. If you chew all of your food properly and eat at an appropriate rate, you don't need to wash the food down. It goes down on its own. 3) Try finding a Protein shake now because you will be needing them for the first few months. You can do protein chicken Soups or at protein to your regular foods but I found the protein supplements to not be unflavored and just gross. It's easier to drink a premiere protein for Breakfast for me. You will probably need some kind of supplement until you can get your protein and calories counts up high enough to get your full amount of protein in. I'm 6 months out and drinking shakes for breakfast. It's just easier for me and I don't mind the taste.

Too much food making me angry

I order regularly and eat leftovers *shrug*
  12. Yes, man, I am disappointed too, in the fact that you forgot to wear your BRA for your MAN TITTIES. Personally, I would have explained to him my disappointment and left.

I'm in Long Beach. I am not an exercise lover (no running) but would love to at least give it a try!
  14. I had to track and still have to track otherwise I would not get enough protein or calories in. Now, even if I don't track, I have a tendency to still not get enough food in (forget to eat) and make "easy" choices of foods that go down easy but aren't the best nutritionally. So I track.

    All you can eat

I count my calories but went on a bit of a hiatus for the last month and stopped tracking. I did not stop losing but I ate whatever I wanted, just Protein first and always hit 80g. I have noticed that when I don't count, I eat very little and have a tendency to snack and not get in my protein. No weight gain but totally not good in the long run so I am back to tracking. I don't really count carbs and calories, mostly just track my protein and try to stay around 1,000 calories. I usually end up between 800-1,000. I got this surgery to change my relationship with food. One of the things I have to learn is portion control and to stop when I am full. Thankfully, this surgery makes this part easy. I never had a horrible diet of only fast food. I usually ate decent food, but too much of it and I snacked a lot on nuts and I did eat chips. Now I feel full with a portion controlled sized meal and I have had no problems with eating whatever I want (no dumping, puking, etc.) I feel so much more in control of myself. My main "bad behavior" is snacking/grazing so I try really hard to keep that under control. The one thing is that my weight loss has been "slow" compared to other people's. I am headed into my 6 month anniversary and I will clear a 60lb post-op loss. I lose a consistent 2lbs a week (about 10lbs per month) no matter how much I control carbs or calories so I eat carbs and have no regrets. I think my previous dieting experience of VLCDs of 500-600 calories is more the culprit in my slower loss. But hey, I will take it. I am actually quite happy with the way I look now even though I am still technically obese. I would like to lose another 40lbs but will be happy with 20lbs. My menu today: Breakfast: Premiere Protein shake Lunch: 3oz of costco rotisserie chicken Dinner: 3oz of salmon baked with mayo, dill, caper, lemon sauce Snacks: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 Kellog protein/fiber bar (like a candy bar!), 1oz harvest crisps lentil snack. I will have some cucumber with chili and lemon later tonight. 825 calories, 98g protein, 43g carbs (31g net) My menu on a "bad day" Breakfast: Premier Protein - vanilla Shake Lunch: pineapple - Raw - Fresh, 3 oz, Chicken Breast, 3 oz, Mayo 0.25 tablespoon Dinner: Carrot Cake With Cream Cheese Icing, 0.2 slice, Pepperidge Farm - Garlic Bread - Texas Toast, 1 Slice, Chunky Blue Cheese dressing 1 tbsp, Spaghetti meat Sauce 1/2 cup, Romaine Lettuce, 0.5 cups, Cucumber 0.15 cup Snacks: Low Fat Cottage Cheese, 1/2 cup, Chardonnay, 2 serving - 5oz, Generic - Pineapple - Raw - Fresh, 3 oz Calories 979, Protein 90g, Carbs 96g
  16. Did they give a reason why they were open bypass?
  17. I have the opposite problem, but if I were in your shoes, I would go with a B or C cup based on what you said your body type is. If you are an A now a C is going to be big and a D feel huge. Plus, the closer you go to your natural size, the more natural it looks and people probably won't notice that much ("wow, you look good, did you lose more weight" vs " woah, BOOBS!")
  18. Trust me, when you get to soft foods you will be chewing your cottage cheese or suffer the consequences...

    Curious...Carbs

I eat pizza if I have to--like a pizza party at work or a bday part, but I do not buy pizza for myself. Generally a small slice of thin crust or a half a piece of regular (bready kind) and I just eat the toppings. I don't like to eat nor enjoy fluffy yeasty bread in my stomach plus it makes me farty. My docs do not have a "never again" list. Instead, they say these things will not help with your weight loss and can cause you to gain weight later on, so if you eat them, eat them rarely as a treat. The only "rule" I have is 80g of Protein minimum a day and wait 30 minutes after eating to drink. If I follow those two rules, I generally don't do much by the way of carbs. The other rule is protein first, then non-starchy veggies, then fruit, then fats/whole grains, etc type stuff. If you follow that order, you won't have room. Also, if you eat fruit as your sweets, I try to eat it with some protein, either cheese or cottage cheese. It keeps you from having that sugar craving later on. I'm not sure when your surgery was, but I am coming up on my 6 months and really only started experimenting recently with added foods. I chose to wait to reintroduce a lot of stuff mostly because I wanted to get a feel for eating and regaining normalcy with food and my sleeve.

    Nothing tastes different.

I could kill off a bag of chips in a day. Now I measure out 1 ounce and eat about half of it before I'm like "meh, I've had enough." It's strange how once the cravings and urges go away food becomes just food.

    Nothing tastes different.

Mine never did either. BUT I have done every very low calorie, carb restricted diet on the planet before starting so my body jumps into ketosis within a day and I don't have the nasty taste buds that go with it. So I think maybe people who have experienced that change either have never been in ketosis and its a reaction to that or they just have a different experience. For me, there hasn't been anything that has tasted significantly different other than most "sweets" are now disgustingly sweet but I was never a big sugar fan to begin with. ETA: Make sure you follow your doctor's plan regardless of how things taste.

    Foods you cant have again

None as far as I know but eat person has their tolerances. The thing with the sleeve is that your stomach is kind of like "wtf?" for the first few months. By about 6 months, its figured things out and by 12 months or so, it's regained its grinding efficiency which is why people can generally eat more the further out they go. I must be weird because popcorn sticks with me pretty good. I can eat more of it because it compresses so well, but man, a cup of popcorn (if that) keeps me full for awhile. And it makes me poop. lol Steak, I have never had a problem with but I did not tackle it until month 3. At about 10 weeks, my stomach just kind decided it was cool with its new smaller size and I was able to eat a lot more than right before that and things started digesting faster. So I haven't had any problems. Some people describe this as what happens usually around 6 months but I am nearing that point and everything seems stable so it must have happened early for me.

    Long term prognosis

I read the OP and about the first three or four pages and things started turning to eating habits. My original comment was directed to the OP, which discussed long term results, particularly in regards to the approximately 30% failure rate. My subsequent posts are directly related to that in that if people think that the sleeve and sleeve diet is a miracle and are unwilling to do the background research and mental work necessary for long term success, there will be failure. This 30% for new sleevers and 50% for secondary bariatric surgery reflects this. I think these subsections are not failures of the surgeries themselves (exception is the band) but failure of the person to do the work necessary to make it a success. I see people doing crazy 0 carbs diets, etc. to lose lose lose as fast as they can and that is not maintainable long term. How is that any different than the dieting cycle we were all on before? It sets people up for failure because they are not using their healing time to actually learn how to eat and maintain a healthy lifestyle long term.

    Long term prognosis

Speak for yourself then because your applying your personal issues with food to everyone. I eat in moderation and track everything. I got this surgery to regain a normal relationship with food. I can measure out an ounce of chips and be satisfied half way through and put the remainder back in the bag. Avoidance does not resolve the problem. If eating one "bad" thing (and I put that in quotes because I don't really believe in bad anymore) sends someone on a binge then they really haven't done the mental work needed for continued success imo. That is where the failure rates come into play. Eta and why do you need to see her pics at 3, 5, 10 years out? Your underlying assumption is that she will fail for not following your plan. Frankly, that's a pretty catty statement.

    Long term prognosis

She said her overall habits are healthy. I don't see why eating in moderation is bad? You can eat all of those things in balance and maintain. Its what people who never had a weight problem do every day.
