  1. Hi everyone! I was banded on November 9th. I went back for my 1st post-op and had lost 10 pounds and was put on pureed food but I seem to be eating more than before ( was really burnt out on the liquids-- 4 weeks was enough). I don't feel I have gained any weight back but I have read about band slippage and I pray that is not what has happened. I get to the point of where I feel full and my meal size is much much less than wha tI was eating before. Is it normal that I am able to at more now. I go back to my doctor on the 8th or should I try to see him before then. PLEASE HELP I AM REALLY WORRIED.
  2. Hi ! I was banded on November 9, 2011. Would love to keep in touch and see how one another is doing and give encouragement when needed.
  3. Hi everyone! Well I did it I was banded on 11/09/11 and it was a really great experience. I was at the hospital at 6:00 a.m. My surgery was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Things went just the way Dr. Vollinger told me it would. I wasn't nervous at all the thing that smewhat stunned me was the shot in my stomach but I survived When I woke up I had discomfort around my incisions but the gas was a whole other subject but I did as I was instructed I walked and walked and walked and it help alot. It will be 2 weeks on WEdnesday but I am a little concerned that there may be something wrong or mat=ybe it it normal and hope someone can help me figure it out. AS I stated it will be 2 weeks this Wednesday but I am hungry and I have eten a very small amount of mashed potatos and refried beans but nothing else. When I do have those things it is only maybe 3-4 bit and I feel like Ihave had a full course meal and at time s I feel I can eat more but I don't. I am having alot of trouble trying to get my fluids in and I know I'm dehydrated but I am not thirsty but I try to sipp all day. I want this band to work but how do I know if it has slipped. Are these genal worries or am I overeacting. Please help.

    Hello Banded 11/09/2011

Hi SJ! I was banded on November 9 , 2011 also and my 2 week pre-opappointment is on the 23 also. I don't regret anything about any of it at all. The gas was the worse for me. The day of my surgery after being home a few hours I was outside walking trying to ge t that gas up and out. I tried gas x but it didn't help much though. I went back to work on that Tuesday after m surgey and was exhausted by the end of the day and needed a nap.I'm not as tried but I do put in long days. I teach high school the special needs students and I am a cheer leading coach so my days are pretty busy. I am having trouble getting all my liquids in and I think that is why my energy level is down but all and all I'm feeling great. Unlike you guys I feel that I need a fill I seem to be hungry but of course there is no over eating. I don't know how much I have lost but I do know I have because of my clothes. I have had a day or two of depression but I just prayed to get through it all. I don't regret it at all and would do it again. I hope that we can keep in touch and encourage one another along the way and keep one another postedon our progress. Good Luck on your journey!!!!!!
  5. Hi Ladies! Good luck on your journey. I was just banded on 11/09/11 and it was the best thing I could've done there are no regrets.I was more than nervous leading up to the week before my surgery. I e-mailed my doctors office constantly. The morning of my surgery I was not nervous at all. The last thing I remember was my family walking out of the room and the nurse asking me was I sure I wanted to do this and when I knew anything I was in recovery and she was telling me it was time to get up. I had discomfort around my incisions and it wasn't unbearable the most pain was from the gas and the best thing for that is walk walk walk. After getting home I was up a few hours later I was up walking 1/2 way up my street and that was the best, some say gas x but walking was the best thing for me. Good lck in your journey.
  6. Hi ! So Sorry that you are having this problem. It sound that your surgeon and his team didn't take the time to give you the proper information to help you recover. I was banded on 11/9/11 and I was well informed before and during the process. I did have ALOT of gas but other than that I had no real pain just being uncomfortable. I was told to use gas X it helped a little but the best thing forr me was walking and more walking. I hope that things work out for you. I will be praying for you and your recovery.
  7. Congratulations on your date. I am scheduled for November the 10h @ 9:30. I know the feeling of being overwhelmed because I feel the same way it seems like alot. Have you tried wal-mart for your protein shakes they are pretty reasonable. Good luck.

    LOST WITHOUT YOU!!

I live in Charlotte, NC and I have Blur Coss Blue Shield and I go to Dr. Vollinger and neither one required a 6month supervision diet. I don't know who your surgeon is but since they said they callled then I would find out who they talked to and then call back and let the insurance company know the person who gave the doctors office the information and find let them work it out. Best wishes and hope things work out for you.
  12. Hi everyone! Is there anyone here from Charlotte, NC or a patient of Dr. Vollinger? Just found out that I was approved for myy surgery. I am so frustrated because I have jumped through all the hoops of trying to get banded and I just keep geting no where I hav all of my test done and I haven't heard a word from my doctors ofice. I keep e-mailing the person in charge and get no response I call and leave messages and bo return call. I do have one problem and I need help with how to fix it.. Maybe someone can give me some help or suggestions: here is my situation, my doctors needs documentation of my weight over the last year or so for his records or somthing of that nature the thing is and I have explained it more that once to them I never went to the doctor because of being FAT so I may have 1 record but not all that they are asking me for so what do I do and where do I begin. 14. I am new to the program also. Don't feel bad I am overwhelmed also, I have gone to the 1st seminar and had my first visit with my doctor, blood work and EKG done. I have an appointment on the 2nd of February to fo to class with the nutrionist and meet the pschlogist. I didn't realize that it was so many things that had to be done. Maybe we can go through this together and support one another. I m wondering what this sleep study is about. I love my doctor and his staff but I just want this to be closer to my new life. I'll keep you posed and you do the same.
  15. Congrats so happy for you both. I am in the stage of getting all the tests and paperwork done. I am hoping I can get minde done soon this paperwork and testing process is overwhelming. I want to get my life back too and I will keep you both in my prayers and hope when my time comes you will do the same for me. Good luck and keep us posted. You'll do great just kep your eyes onthe prize and you know you have support on this site.
  16. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but if you are sick they will postpone your surgery because they don't want to put you at risk for infections. Try to take some medication and knock it before it knocks you. How far away is your surgery ? I hope you get it done I am in the processing stage and I feel like it won't happen. I am praying for you and that you will knock this cold and get yours done. Good luck and keep me posted.
