    Kitchen appliances

Hi I am glad you cleaned out your closets and found appliances. Start with the ones you have and then see if you really need to purchase anything else. What works for one doesn't work for everyone. I and my husband had surgery on December 30, 2010. It so happens that I had mine first and when the surgeon went to talk to my husband he thought of baking out. In the end he had the surgery and is so happy that he did. Our surgeon gave him the biggest band (apparently there are different sizes) All we know is is that I could not eat everything and he could eat what he ate before. The doctor did that on purpose because my husband was too concerned that he wasn't in the right place to reduce food but he would get there. Even at his first fill the doctor asked him if wanted the full fill or only half a fill my husband does want to lose weight so he asked for the full fill. Good luck in your choice I do hope you go through with it but it is not an easy road as most people suggest. Make sure you are ready for it, this is only a tool to help us with the weight it is not going to keep it off forever unless we all work on it daily. Cathi

    Do I have a slip? can't tell

I agree with onmyway2thin. If you are feeling better than it is probably not a slip but getting in touch with the surgeon or a nurse who works there is better than guessing. I had my surgery only 2 months ago and had severe vomiting only after eating a piece of chicken too quickly that I didn't chew correctly. I have my second fill a week from today.
  3. I had surgery on December 30, 2010 and I have not felt my band or the port. I am 5' 4" and 245. I was 255 at the day of surgery. I have read everyone elses post and they all seem to say the same thing so good luck to you and keep asking questions you are your best advocate when it comes to your health.
  4. Hi Dawnzy,

Yes, I would love to share comments and ideas. When did you and your husband go through this

  5. I agree with what Indigo girl said. the band is a tool it will not teach you to eat right but if you fill the band and you eat too quickly or the wrong foods it will make you uncomfortable. I only got my band the end of 2010 so it is new and like you I know I can get down the wrong foods. I am looking forward to going to the gym the beginning of February and having my fill. My doctors office gave guidelines that if certain food goes down or there is weight gain these are sure signs to go in and have a fill. The lapband wasn't made for you to have difficulty with the process. Keep trying and by the way just because you are gaining doesn't mean you need to take the band out.

    PAIN!! Help me!!

Someone else posted a similar problem to yours and in the end she went to the ER and it was a good think because she had and embuli which is treated with blood thinners. Get yourself checked out the gas pain we all refer to is in the shoulder and abdomen. It does not hurt by moving more. Are you having any shortness of breath? Be an advocate for yourself and see a doctor or call your doctor over the phone sometimes doctors can ask certain questions and can ascertain if you are in any danger. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
  7. I am glad you havd it checked out because though we all discuss gas pain it is not as dibiliating as you were describing. Feel good and remember you are your best advocate if your doctor doesn't answer you find one that will.
  8. Hi, I am so glad you asked that question. My husband and I went for surgery on 12/30/10 and we noticed a weight loss initially and then a weight gain. As of last night we are back to the weight we were post op in the doctors office. I guess this is the body adjusting to the eating and the trauma it went through for surgery. I would like to know what the nutritionist says because we have considered following weight watchers but if our stomach can't handle the amount of calories they are talking about eating I am not sure what plan to follow to allow for maximum nutrition health.
