    Progress Pictures

I have always anytime i get on an diet/exercise kick taken pics... it grosses me out at first to look at the first set... BUT when you take the next a month later and can put them side by side and see the difference it gives you the motivation to keep going! I took a set front back and both sides 2 1/2 weeks pre op and then took another set a month later which was exactly two weeks post op... i have lost 16lbs altogether at this point... I am stoked about the 16lbs and when I looked at the pictures side by side... I could see it melting off! But the key is to take your pictures with the same clothes on.... i managed to squeeze into my swim suit from 5 or 6 years ago when I was about 50 to 60lbs lighter.... but with having the same thing on i can see the small changes that are occuring that I wont be able to see if i had something else on... I truely believe that pictures can help to push and motivate a person to get to that desired goal! I say you should go for it... it will make you feel better in the end!!! Good luck to you on your journey!!
  2. I had an issue where it felt like when I tried to breathe especially laying down it felt like someone was standing on my air way... it lasted a few days and it went away...its gas i think... it hurts but it will go away... Good luck!

So I have my first post op appt in 45 mins. I still have the bubble pain and its horrible to the point where I can barely sleep sometimes.. and my back is killing me. The back for me is because Im not a back sleeper Im a stomach and side sleeper so a week on my back is not cool! That might be why some of you others that are experiencing back pain could be! I will let everyone knows how the dr appt went when I get back! Marcy- just keep pushing! you can do it!

I have the same issue, if it does actually come out, my chest tightens up so i have to take a slow deep breath! and it sucks!!! and as of last night if i lay on my back still somewhat propt up, I get the same tightness/pain too, I just take deep breaths and it helps a little but still is very uncomfortable!! It feels a little better if I sit up and walk a little but not much! I cant wait till I feel 100% normal again!

That really stinks!! Well with the liquid diet and 5 days left you should be able to loose a few more pounds by then! I wish you luck and if for what ever reason they cancel it I would find another surgeon! You can do it!!
  6. Thanks! I am doing pretty good! I was really sore the first 2 days mostly on the left side where my port is. I am now able to get up without near as much pain just enough to remember that I had surgery on Tuesday! lol I am pretty impressed with how quick I have began to feel better, at the hospital I was scared it was going to be a long road to recovery! But once I got home and rested somemore things started to fall into place and I started to feel better! I have been very lucky and have not experienced any naseua(sp), just a little pain when I try to get the gas out via belching after i belch it hurts alittle but if i let out the air slowly its not so bad. I am only taking my pain meds at night to sleep or if walking isnt helpiing the pain on the left side which was once since Tuesday... Everyday seems to get better with the exception of yesterday, I think it has to do with the night before I tried to go to class and that was a little to much for me so my friend brought me back home, so yesterday I got a little woosy, I think I just over did it a little to much the day before. Overall I am stoked that I have done this and with the success I have seen so far! I have lost a total of 10lbs and 6 of that since Tuesday! I can't wait to see where I ended up!! Thank you for checking up and asking about me I appreciate it! I just makes anyone feel good to know that someone is thinking of them. Good luck to everyeone and remember We CAN and we WILL do it!!!
  7. Wow! I am so suprised to hear so many PCP's are uninformed! My PCP is great! and was a huge part of my process! I have seen my PCP since I was a child and my entire family. So he knows all the struggles I have had with weight. He has put me on a few diets and suggested HCG and south beach and things like that but when all the weight came back each time he could tell I was frustrated. I mentioned before I did the hcg that i was interested in the lap band he said he would support it but thought I should try hcg first. so I did and well obivously that didnt work! So a year later I went back and told him i was ready to do the lapband... so he and his entire staff did everything thing they possibly could to get me approved. My dad was even worried that I was too young to do something this drastic but talked to our PCP at his visit about it and the PCP informed him that it is a good decision for me at my age because I can bounce back better since I am younger! so therefore I guess I have an amazing PCP! I wish everyone could have my PCP he truely is the most caring sweet and loving PCP I have ever met and I have met too many for my age!
  8. I havent had any issues like that but that sounds horrible! I hope everything gets better for you! Ill be think of you and good luck!
  9. thanks for friending me... well if it makes u feel better i didnt get sick. it will all be ok and worth it all!

  10. Hello Everyone!! I am getting banded on Tuesday and I couldnt be more excited! After talking to my dad and a few other close family friends the question or though kept coming up "Aren't you to young for this type of procedure?" I am 26 and have been overweight my entire life, but have been "morbidly obese" as they call it for the last 2 years. I am just wondering if anyone else as been asked that? Its kind of a weird thought that people would ask/say that. Just wondering if anyone else has been asked that or any other weird questions... Thanks!!

Day 3 post op... and i feel so much better! Last night was a little rough, my left side has been hurting the most and then to top it off I had gas trapped on the left side too! O that was not fun! I walked for about 30 minutes up and down my hallway and took a pain pill and went to sleep. I can say today I feel much better the pain is much better! I am still sore on the left side but other than that I feel great! My tummy is going crazy, I guess the gas is moving around and trying to escape it kinda feels funny! It makes me giggle! My dog which is glued to me at all times can here it and makes funny faces at me like what is wrong with you momma? haha... I jumped on the scale today just to see, and to my amazment I have lost 2 lbs since I went in for surgery on Tuesday! That makes me so happy!!! Well anyways just wanted to update everyone! and say good luck to all getting banded today! And good luck to Marcy, sounds like your going to have a rough day!

    March 2011 Bandsters

Well I am offically banded as of 12pm yesterday!!! I thought I was going to die from the pain at first only because no one told me to breathe when I try to move or get up! but once I was informed to breathe things are much better! I came home yesterday afternoon around 3:30 i was very tired so I slept for a few hours off and on. I was able to get up and walk around a good bit last night which I was impressed with because the way I felt at the hospital I thought I was going to be hurting for a while. I havent had horrible gas pains just a little in my chest and my left shoulder and that was mostly last night. My pain is only on my left side where my port is and it really only hurts when I get up. I am very glad I have done this! I cant wait to start seeing results! I am not hungry at all but I am getting liquids down with no problem. Trying to remember to take and do everything I need to. I weighed myself just to see if I had gained like most people said they had from the swelling and fluids on their bodies but to my suprise I havent!! But i am not swollen either so that might have alot to do with it too! the only thing that is swollen is my hand from my IV, and thats because the nurse gave me a new bag but my other was empty and OMG that hurt so bad! to the point that my hand hurt all night long! I have had many IVs inmy life and never have experienced that! But over all the hopspital and nurses were awesome and the entire thing went well! I wish everyone luck! it is the best thing we can do for ourselves!!!

    Protein and shedding

If you are having a problem with the milk in your protien shakes drink them with Water... I cant drink milk so I mix mine with water and its just fine... I had a fruit punch by nectar Sweets and added a crystal light packet with it and it was good and killed the horid Protein smell my favorite is the chocolate truffle by Nectar Sweets... as long as you get a good tightly packed scoop in a 16 oz glass it tastes GREAT! I hope that helps!
  15. I am getting banded on Tuesday 3/22! I am so excited! I am so excited that I dont think I will get nervous, but this is the way I look at it... I have choose to take this step for the reason that I need to be healthy and I would like to have children one day, so I have to much good to look forward to to even think about being nervous! As far as the anestesia(sp) they do this day in and day out, so there is nothing to be afraid of... I look at it like its my saving grace, because without it I would either feel more than I would ever desire or obviously not get to do this in the first place!! I guess I just always look at the bright side of things.... if you dewell on the negative it scares the hell out of you and brings you down! so just think of all the good reasons that you are going through this and it will make you smile and forget all about the scary things!! Good Luck to you!!!

    Too Young??

That is exactly what I thought too and is what I told them, they didnt mean it in a mean way I think they were just concerned about me... But I agree I would much rather do this now and know that I will have a healthy life and a better recovery than if I was to wait another couple of years or so. Thanks!

    March 2011 Bandsters

Well I had my pre-op appointment yesterday... and I am super excited... My husband and I met with the surgeon again we went over all the things I have to do the day before, what time I have to be there and what i need to bring. I then did all the fun paper work and blood work and urine analysis and talked to the nurse at out patient. So I know where I need to go and what to expect when I get there... After all that I am more excited than ever! Only 4 more days!!! I am actually really excited about the day before because Im going to be on a liquid diet but they told me I can have a snow cone!!! that sounds really silly but this time of year is so great for a snow cone and I have been wanting one for a while now!! haha! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for posting their experiences as they move along! I look forward to reading everyones post so I have an idea of what I can expect! Good luck to everyone!! We can and will do it!

I am exactly a week away from being banded! I couldnt be more excited about it! But today I feel a little on the bumed side of things. I have been on my preop diet for a week now and I lost 5lbs in the first five days! but then I gained a lb and then another the next day and then stayed the same the next! I dont know why! I know I shouldnt worry about it but it just makes me feel bad! But I guess on an upper note my pants feel better! I think I have lost a few more than 5 lbs in the last month so that where that comes from. I guess its just the fact that I feel like Im starving myself and gaining even though it was only 2lbs, it still is frustrating! Any ways I just needed to vent and express my feelings! Thank you all for reading and listening!! Good luck to all that have been banded so far and those that are being banded today!

Marcyloo- Its not hunger... but I did notice today when I had my real food meal that I couldn't eat near as much as I could a couple of days ago so maybe it is that my tummy has shrunk but its just just a weird feeling... As far as your comment about wanting that one last binge meal... I am right there with you!! I would love to have a little bit of everything right now! Good luck!

I have a question... I am on my pre-op diet day 4 and I have had a weird feeling in my tummy. It's not a horrible pain or feeling but if I had to guess it feel like what I think it would feel like if I had the band already! In other words its just like a tighting feeling around the top of my stomach or a pushing pain like something is pushing on my stomach. Its not a gas pain either. Does any one have any idea what might be causing it or has anyone else experienced this while on their pre-op diet. Thanks Amy
