I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP
Ammastar replied to Tabithan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there, I was banded 12/29/2010 and feel like I have failed even before I started. I did really well the first few weeks and lost 15 lbs. Since then I haven't been able to lose anymore. I was excersisng twice a day and barely getting 1000 calories a day. Then vacation came and all of my great new habits went out the window. Then I had a hysterectomy a few days ago and can't seem to get myself back on track eating wise. I have indulged in a cake and cookies the last few days, telling myself it was the only way I could get the disgusting medicine down. Knowing full well I am just hurting myself. I am so frustrated and disappointed in myself. On top of it all I have been in twice for a fill and they haven't done it yet. First time my port was tilted, second time was because I had just had the hysterectomy. I can't exercise for 2 more weeks. Ugh, weight loss is so frustrating. One set back seems to just ruin my whole outlook on my journey. Sorry all I just needed to vent. -
I too have UHC and got approved very quickly. It was almost like I got put on the fast track to surgery.
-
I still have a bruise from my first fill attempt 2 weeks ago. Going in Thursday to try again. Dr said my port had not settled yet. Hope it is not the same this time.
-
I am going through the same thing. It is so frustrating and discouraging. Just hang in there.
-
I love the tennis game and the boxing. Super fun and the boxing is one heck of a workout
-
We were back at it a week or 2 after my surgery. Try different positions to see which is most comfortable for you and enjoy. Hubby is loving my body as it keeps shrinking.
-
I also make the eggplant lasagna. I make eggplant enchiladas too the same way. I prefer the green chile enchilada sauce and just substitute the eggplant for the tortillas. Gets the kids and hubby to eat the eggplant and still feel like they are getting enchiladas.
-
I haven't tried to use my card either. If my husband decides he wants fast food I just order something with grilled chicken and eat my way around the tortilla or bread. Any leftovers I wrap up and bring home to put in the fridge for the next day.

My doctors let me move on to eggs early but I did not tolerate them well at all. They also let me move on to the Protein shakes early which I tolerated much better. Take it slow and be patient. The first 2 weeks of this part are the toughest. After that it gets better and better

I am not hungry all of the time but would like to get my first fill this weekend as I will be gone next weekend. I am eating good foods and keeping up on my protein and fluids. I have also started exercising. Not much just walking a mile a day while pushing my son in his stroller. It is a work out though lol. I am still learning this site as well.

Does anyone gain weight in the first few weeks after surgery?
Ammastar replied to ascicles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fom what I have been told, if you have under a certain amount of calories your body goes into a starvation mode and will hold on to all of the calories you take in. I know it is hard because the same thing has been happing to me lately. If I am under 1000 calories by the end of the day I will drink a glass of milk to help bring my calories and Protein up. Imagine that, trying to get enough calories in a day lol. -
Thank you Tina. I had to go in yesterday for an unrelated exploratory surgery and I was so dehydrated they had trouble getting the IV in. Wasn't very happy about that but they finally got it. It takes me a couple of hours to get 16 oz of water down but I can knock back 8 oz of milk in about half an hour. I am on sort of solid foods so I am hoping it will get easier since I don't have to have the protein shakes any longer. Those give me headaches anyway so I am glad to see them go.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
Ammastar replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liquids for a week, then full liquids for a week and now I am on my soft foods with the protein shakes. -
Hi there everyone. My name is Amber and I was banded on 12-29-2010. I am doing pretty good I guess. The first 2 weeks were pretty rough but it has been almost 3 weeks and I am feeling pretty good. Still not getting enough fluids in me as I run out of time before I run out of liquid. Still drinking the Protein shakes and trying to get 3-4 meals in. Overall though I feel pretty well. I don't have restriction from my band when I do eat, which is good that I am not over doing it. I love me some Water though. I find that I crave water like crazy and salad. I am missing my salads. I have spent the last year preparing my mind and body for this surgery so I was on a really great food and exercise regimen before my surgery. Can't wait to get back to the exercise. Anyhow this is my introduction. Hope to have a great journey!
