  1. I like to add black beans, corn, chicken broth, spicy salsa, and 3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6-7 hours. Pull the chicken out and shred it and add it back into the soup for about 30 minutes. Top with sour cream, cheese, avocado, or tortilla chips for AMAZING tortilla chicken soup. You can also just put the chicken in and dump a bottle of bbq sauce over them, cooking for the same amount of time as the soup. Shred the chicken and you have pulled bbq chicken for sandwiches, wraps, etc. I love my crock pot!

    surgery incisions effecting my life

I had surgery 1/28 and had sex for the first time last night and it HURT my tummy (port specifically). I had to ice my stomach after and it made my fiance feel bad, so don't take it personally - it's a safety thing! Stick to foreplay and wear some sexy lingerie that covers your scars! hehe

    Starting Softs & Cravings

A lot of people have said that baking ricotta cheese covered in spaghetti sauce and mozzarella is yummy. That might help the pizza craving! You could even mix a little pesto in the cheese for extra Italian flair!

    Protein Bars

Think Thin protein bars in chunky peanut butter. 20g of protein and no sugar. Tastes like a peanut butter cup or a candy bar - yum!

    Shocked Again at Weight!!

"I think our bodies need adequate calories to lose." I think this is true also. I'm in the liquid phase and I was bad and only had about 300 calories yesterday. I got on the scale and I was up half a pound... my body is starving and fighting me. I need to feed my body to give it the energy to burn. Way to go on your loss!

    Food progression after surgery

My Dr. is sooo weird and I am highly considering ignoring him (which I know everyone on here hates) BUT He says Week 1 - Clear liquids Week 2-3 - Clear liquids + milk (I took this to mean things like cream soups and runny yogurt were okay...) Week 4 - Introduce new foods one at a time. I am in Week 2 and I am starving! I'm thinking Week 3, I'm going to do some mushies just to survive. He skips the mushie stage - that's weird right?
  7. Yum! I'm still in liquid pre-op so obviously anything sounds good to me These sound versatile like you could put anything in them - mini chocolate chips, other nuts, dried fruit, whatever! Thanks for the idea
  8. I am Day 3 post op and am feeling really weak and dizzy and I have to work this week! Please give me suggestions on how to not feel like I'm going to black out!

Dizzy during post op liquid diet?

He made it very clear no protein until Friday. It is weird huh? I am allowed to put Special K protein water packets in my water though so I will try those.

Dizzy during post op liquid diet?

My doctor said I'm not allowed to have any protein this week! Only water, clear juice, and broth - hence the dizziness. I don't want to pass out while teaching

    January 2011 Bandsters !!!

I had my surgery Friday Jan 28th in TJ Mexico. I am now home and recovering quite well. I'd say now I just feel like I have the flu - kind of achy, tired, and a little tightness in my chest. Nothing unbearable - just uncomfortable! I am just freaking out about how I am going to be on clear liquids for a week. I am already feeling pretty weak and dizzy since I haven't had anything to eat since last Wednesday. Juice and broth is not cutting it and I have to work tomorrow! Any words of wisdom or advice are welcome!
  12. Hi! I'm 25 and a similar starting weight as you - and my surgery is tomorrow! Eeeeek! We'll have to keep in touch through this crazy journey :)

    January 2011 Bandsters !!!

Hi all! I have been lurking on these boards for a few weeks, but I figured I might as well say hello since my surgery is TOMORROW with Dr. Kelly in TJ Mexico. I am both excited and nervous. I've been reading so much really good and really bad stories that I have convinced myself that I'm either gonna feel no pain or have some crazy complication. lol. It's so nice to have a place to get support. I am a 25 year old master's student and I just got engaged and this is a great time for me start this journey! Wish me luck....
