As I've been reading through the posts I've seen where some have or have not "Slimed", what does this mean. I've been banded just over 2 weeks now, I suppose if it's happened to me I would know what it is. I'm guessing this is a good thing?

Weight loss seems stalled 3 weeks post-op
Patti.Ramsey replied to SupportiveWife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Feb 16th; same thing happened to me 4 weeks out, which was last week. Sunday I dropped 3lbs. I think my body is hanging on to everything going in it right now, which isn't much. -P -
Silly Question...

Eating after the lap band
Patti.Ramsey replied to mutlyp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been banded long (Feb 16th), but I want to comment on eating out. Due to my profession I travel long distance or out of state weekly, I pretty much live in Hotels and eat out everyday. Going to dinner alone is no problem, I usually order appitizers, Soups or ala cart. When going out with colleagues if ordering an appitizer or soup I'll ask the server to hold my meal until the other meals are being served. Because I'm eating slower these day's, it is working out well. One thing I want to mention that was told to me; if you bring home leftovers be cardfull re-heating them as the leftovers tend to become a little tough as they are being cook a little more during the heating process. When I take a deep breath, lots of pain in my chest.
Patti.Ramsey replied to kelli01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it happened to me about 5 day's post op, I thought it was normal, when I went to my 1 week post op appointment I was told pain in the chest is not normal and they sent me to emergancy right then. They were checking for a blood clot come to find out I had Fluid in my lungs. Though I was using the "blow thing", I apparently wasn't using it enough. Once I began using it more often the pain went away, took a couple of day's. Patti -

2 wks after banding and my appetite is out of control!!
Patti.Ramsey replied to butterflysRfree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been banded just over 2 weeks (Feb 16th), I too am starting to feel hungry and my next appointment isn't until March 29th. It's my understanding this is normal as the swelling has gone down. For the most part I've been able to stay on my post op diet, when I get really hungry I make a Protein shake and that helps me a lot or I find that if I take a walk that does the trick as well. Good Luck to you... -
day after complications
Patti.Ramsey replied to tk0517's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Wednesday February 16th; by Sunday my chest really hurt and it was becoming difficult to breath. When I went for my post op visit on Tuesday I found that this was not normal, they sent me to emergancy for a CT Scan and discovered I had developed Fluid in my lungs. This was due to not using the spirometer enough, once I began using it more I was fine in a day. I would suggest you asking your doctor for one as well as asking for some pain medicine, I went through a big bottle the first week and asked for another one. I'm now 2 weeks 1 day post op and am feeling no pain. Hang in there and good luck to you... -
Getting banded in 5 days
Patti.Ramsey commented on PantalaNagaPampa's blog entry in PantalaNagaPampa's Blog
I was banded February 16th, as the day got closer I started feeling the same way. The worst part of the surgery for me was the shoulder pain from the gas, do a lot of walking to get rid of it. I haven't had any problems and I have no regrets. Good luck to you, you'll be fine -
Banded yesterday! Have questions...
Patti.Ramsey replied to The invisible woman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Michelle, I had my sugery one week ago today, today was the 1st day since surgery I have not had the Gas pain (Knock on wood, the day isn't over yet). My Doctor suggested Gas X Strips, so that's what I took. To be honest; I'm not sure if it worked, this pain is the worst pain I've ever experienced. Hopefully your gas pain will end soon. I can't speak to the dressings as I didn't have any, my Doctor glued my incisions and I haven't had any issues so far. Patti -
Banded yesterday Feb 16th
Patti.Ramsey replied to Patti.Ramsey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Doctor has suggested Gas X Strips, that's what I'm using and it seems to be working well. -
I'm banded!!! My surgery was scheduled for 6:30am yesterday morning I had to be at the surgery center at 5:30am. Everything went well, I was released and on my way home by 9am. As they began the surgery they discovered I had a Hiatal Hernia and a small cyst on my stomach, they repaired the heria and sent the cyst off to the lab, I sure it will be fine. I have a lot of gas pain so I'm doing a bit of walking to help with that. I haven't experianced much pain so far, thank goodness for pain medicine. Over all I'm feeling great!!! Patti

Ketosis induced headaches?
Patti.Ramsey replied to dancinglamb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all, I had never heard of Ketosis; I assumed the Headaches, Dizziness, Fatique and Nausea was due to the pro-op diet, but I had no idea where the bad breath was coming from. Now I know this is normal, thanks again... LOVE Lap Band Talk... Patti -

not losing on shakes and lean cuisine???
Patti.Ramsey replied to ThisMumRocks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sugery date is scheduled for the 16th as well; I've been on my pre-op diet since the 2nd and lost 8 pounds in 3 days and then nothing. I've decided not to change my diet and I'm not going to weigh again until my pre-op appointment schedulded for Wednesday. The first 3 days I had been walking a mile and then I stopped due to other things going on, I begin today again walking the mile. See what happens... Though I don't have any advise for you, I do want to wish you luck. Hang in there!!! Patti -
I know everyone is different in regards to recovery. I do have a question and would like to hear from you. My surgery is scheduled for February 16th which is a Wednesday, my question is... Is it reasonable to think I can return to work the following Monday? I'm what they call a Road Warrior", I generally travel to someplace in the US on Monday's returning home on Friday's. I'm fortunate right now to be able to work from my home office for the next couple of months. I will be doing phone support for our Franchisees and a lot of email, nothing strenuous. I do have fexibility as to how long I work at a time. Information I've read indicates you can return to work within a week and other information says 4 to 6 weeks. What was your experience with this? Looking forward to hearing from you. Patti

I have one day when I will be working a 24 to 34 hour shift, doesn't happen to often. My concern is being awake for so long without food, UGH! How will I keep my energy up, any suggestions? Patti
