My gastric sleeve op was not a success. A year post op, I weigh more than I did pre op. I am considering having the bypass but wondering whether the same thing will happen. Also I know it is a more serious op. Has anyone else faced this situation? Any advice?

Thanks for the good wishes. Have your surgeries all been Bariatric in nature?

I'm not losing weight after my GS. What am I doing wrong?
BJLS posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, i had my Gastric Sleeve op a month ago. Initially, I lost 15 pounds but, over the past three weeks, the weight has been creeping back on and I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks. BJ -

Thanks. I have an appointment with him on Monday. -
I was banded in January 2011 and am now back to my pre-banding weight. Needless to say, I am discouraged. I don't have any allergy problems or anything like that - I just can't seem to lose the weight. I am going to have my fill level checked this week and maybe that has something to do with it. I do have some vomiting from time to time - so I don't think that I have too much fill. I really sympathize with all of you who are discouraged. I have taken up walking and given up alcohol and red meat but am at a loss as to what else to do to speed up the process.

Hi, I am being banded tomorrow - Wednesday, January 19th- and thought I might start a topic for anyone else who is being banded that day. I have lost 7 pounds pre-op and am nervous but excited about tomorrow. Wish me luck! Barbara

2011 - banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group

Hi Jackie, Good luck with your goal. I'll bet you can do it. I too have a goal although it's a bit farther out than yours. My son is getting married in September and I REALLY want to be down to my goal weight (135) by then. I am excited by the weight I have lost so far (22 pounds) and I haven't even had my first fill. I really took the pre-op diet seriously and lost quite a bit before the surgery. Now I am nervous about my first fill but excited too to see what it feels like and if it makes this whole 'eating' thing easier. Best of luck and have a good day. Barbara -
Hi All, I was banded on the 19th and am trying to prepare myself for my first fill. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Like, does it hurt? Do you feel much less hungry after the fill? Any information will be gladly accepted. Thanks. Barbara

Hi Lyla, Thanks so much for the information. It doesn't' sound too terrifying at all the way you describe it. I'm glad they use some numbing stuff before sticking the needle in. I'll definitely let you know how it goes. Thanks again. Barbara

New Year, New You Challenge 2011

Hi Everyone, Congratulations to all who met their goals and those who didn't! We've gotta keep on trying. I met my January goal and am now down to 193.6. Haven't got to the gymn yet and that is my next goal. Wish me luck! Barbara -
Hi, I am really surprised that so many people think it is a strange question and really would be put off if I were you by some of the responses. I don't think they were very helpful. Wine at dinner has always been an important part of our routine and I was wondering when I would be able to have some too. The literature I read (and my doctor concurred) said that a group who had wine with dinner did better at their weight loss than those who didn't! My doctor also said it would be fine. I don't mean to drink a lot but just to have a glass occasionally. I can understand why you would want to know and encourage you to find your own comfort zone regarding wine. Good luck with your weight loss. Mine is going fine at one week post-op. I have lost 16 pounds since starting the pre-op diet so I'm pretty pleased.. Hope it continues. Barbara

New Year, New You Challenge 2011
BJLS replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone! It's my first weigh-in on the challenge since I just had my surgery four days ago - on Wednesday. On Thursday, I don't think I would have said it was worth it, but things have been improving steadily since then AND I have lost 11 pounds since the pre-op diet began!! My goal for January was to reach 198 pounds and I'm now at 199. So I'm feeling very good about the whole thing. Can't get back to exercising yet but when I do I will take your good advice, Va_Vi, and change things up a bit each week. It's so easy to get into a rut and a routine. I'm not as hungry as I thought I would be. I'm still eating just fluids, clear and full, and I find that I am feeling full after a very small amount of food. Let's hope it stays this way. Good luck to everyone this week! Barbara -

Hi Tanya, Congratulations on your decision. I'm sure you won't regret it. I just found this site myself and am scheduled to have my surgery on Wednesday (the 19th). I'm a little nervous - it IS surgery after all- but excited too. How much weight do you want to lose? Welcome. Barbara url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wHhZnhr/] -
Hi! I am new to this board and about to have lap band surgery. Can anyone tell me how common it is to have vomiting post-op? I keep reading about it and wondered if it is normal or not. Thanks. BJLS

Please share your new focus after banding
BJLS replied to mom2amwt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was intrigued to read your message about the importance of food in our lives and what to replace it with. I am about to have the surgery done (3 days) and I have already experienced what you're talking about during the pre-op diet. For one thing, I am using this message board to find support and answers to questions that I have. That is the first change I've made and I think it's a good one. There's nothing worse than feeling as if you're the only one going through something - so lonely... I also think that I will start to reward myself with clothing and accessories in place of the food. I know that when I was thinner I really enjoyed clothing and dressing up. Now I slink into the plus sizes section and feel embarrassed by having to buy such big clothes. Also I will use my hobbies of quilting and knitting to take up time and energy. I need to have something to do with my hands. I was used to having as much wine as I wanted with meals and am finding that part hard to give up. I have done it but am struggling with what to use to replace alcohol in my social life. Do you have any thoughts on that? Good luck. Barbara url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wHhZnhr/] -

January 2011 Bandsters !!!
BJLS replied to Renee1003's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Renee, Thanks for starting a new group. I am going to have my surgery on Wednesday (January 19th). I am paying for it up front, so I didn't have to go through all of the insurance hoops. I couldn't wait for a year to have it done. So I'm going to starve because I don't have any money left for foodI wish you luck with your tests. I'll let you know how things go on Wednesday. Good luck. Barbara url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wHhZnhr/] -
Hi, Congratulations on your surgery. Hope it went well. I am going to have mine done on Wednesday, the 19th. A little scared but... Was it worth it? How do you feel post-op? BJLS

Hi, I am new to this board and am wondering how you all got your 'Ticker' tape at the bottom of your messages? Can someone tell me. I already have a code but don't know where to put it. Thanks. BJLS
