How well do you tolerate soda after banding?
TylerAshton567 replied to PraisingHim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me I can if I want to. With that said I'm actually drinking a diet coke right now. my surgery was 2 years and 1 month ago. I have never had a problem with drinking sodas. Nothing has happened to my band. My doctor advised me that most doctors say no about carbonated beverages such as cokes/ alcohol just because they want you to change your diet and such and not really rely so much on the band. I've lost almost 100 pounds since surgery. Today I weighed in at a check up dr apt at 130.2. I'm not really the best example only because I haven't had any problems with band slipping or anything and I still eat everything except not much bread or rice, just smaller portions. -

Anyone with this issue???
TylerAshton567 replied to TylerAshton567's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me before lapband surgery that rapid weight loss in a short time can cause problems to the gallbladder. I'm not really sure why or what it does to the gallbladder but my gallbladder surgeon when I was rushed to the ER asked immediately if I've recently lost a lot of weight or if I've ever had weight loss surgery and I explained my band 2 years prior and he then knew it was my gallbladder without even looking at my CT scans or X-rays yet. After he saw them he came back and said it was just as he thought. I've seen some other post on here about people having to get their gallbladder removed afterwards also. My mom had gastric by pass and them had to have hers taken out just a few months later. -
I never had to crush any of my meds but I can tell u from working in a pharmacy some tablets aren't meant to be crushed :/ most pills that are okay to crush do go well with applesauce and even chocolate syrup. Ask your pharmacist which ones can be crushed and what it can be mixed with so it won't taste so nasty. Some meds aren't good to mix with applesauce or dairy products. But in general ifs mainly trial and error your doctor won't know personally if you can swallow a pill or not that's something you will have to just try on your own. Also from being a pharmacy tech I have learned Doctors honestly don't fully know that much about medications other than their use. So I would recommend if you can't swallow a pill speak to your pharmacist.

I kinda had the same symptoms and my doctor advised me its just the gas moving around. I burped a lot and it was just uncomfortable. Not really so much painful just awkward feeling. Hope you have a fast recover and a great journey -
So I had lapband surgery feb 2, 2011. Went into surgery weighing around 220. Had a very successful surgery, recovery, and weight loss process. 2 weeks ago feb 15 I was rushed to the ER with what I thought was a heart attack. Keep in mind I'm only 23. I was terrified. Turned out it was my gallbladder ( go figure). It was full of stones so they removed it that day. As if 6 incision scars wasn't enough, 4 more was added. Thankfully the 6 from lap band are barely noticeable. They had me stay the night and before releasing me the next day the doctor told me they could tell my gallbladder has not been working for what they estimate 2 years. I look back at my lap band surgery two years prior and knew that was the cause. Not a big deal. Recover from gallbladder has been much worse and more of a challenge. I'm at my sweet spot and have been for awhile. It's a comfortable spot for me. But since gallbladder surgery I can't help but feel like I'm tighter??? I never had a problem drinking sodas until now and it's only the first half of the day. I can only manage to drink water or tea until around 2 or 3pm then I can slowly start switching and actually eating something other than broth. I went into gallbladder surgery weighing 142 and now today I'm at 134.8. I've been taking vitamins daily since surgery since I know I'm not getting what I need from the food intake I'm getting. I'm happy with the weight loss and I know people have to change their diets after gallbladder removal but I'm literally just stumped at what I can actually eat. Has anyone had this issue???

Gallbladder surgery After lapband
TylerAshton567 replied to TylerAshton567's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank for the advice. Gas pains are much worse with this surgery than lap band. I do also have the burning sensation around the larger incision. I'm just literally at a stand still on what to do. I didn't really have gas pains except for the first day after lap band. These gas pains don't seem to want to go away. I can literally feel all the bubbles moving around but still not passing. Ugh please pray this ends quickly. -
Gallbladder surgery After lapband
TylerAshton567 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's been 2 years since my band surgery. Well yesterday I was rushed to the ER for what I thought was possibly a heart attack or damage to my port. My chest and stomach hurt so bad it went thru to my back. I couldn't breath and I was just aching all over. I woke up to this pain in the middle of the night. At first I thought it was just heartburn no big deal but it rapidly got worse. I get to the hospital I advise them of my band and immediately they do a cat scan an blood work on my gallbladder. Turns out my gallbladder was full of multiple stones. So they took me in for surgery and released me today. It's literally like starting all over again. I now have 4 new incisions on my stomach and was pumped full of gas again. Shoulder pain is back my stomach is sore my throat hurts from the tube eating gas x strips again and liquid diet. If anyone else has gone thru this can you please give me some info on it. I only saw the general surgeon at the ER who did it one time before surgery. I'm suppose to follow up in 2 weeks but from now til then I don't really know what to expect how I should eat. Also this time seems a bit more uncomfortable as I'm unable to have a BM. I don't remember if I was able to after the band or if it took a couple days. Please help. Thanks. -

What's on your menu today?
TylerAshton567 replied to reverie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well dry chicken just won't stay down idk why everything else is perfectly fine. It doesn't matter if I chew dry chicken 50 times its coming back up its feels as if it sits in the back of my throat like I can't swallow it. I do drink protein shakes to try to get enough protein in but I rly doubt I even get enough calories prolly like 600 a day if that -
Crystal Light??
TylerAshton567 replied to Hopes of a Dream!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The way I look at is atleast its better than a soda and atleast we aren't just mixing regular sugar kool aid with water so I say keep on drinking it. -
What's on your menu today?
TylerAshton567 replied to reverie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg I think I'm way out of whack or something everyone of y'all eat way more than I do for breakfast I eat a egg cheese and sausage tortilla thing. Then most days I skip lunch if I do eat lunch its a lean cuisine then dinner I eat either pieces of a whole chicken I cook in the crockpot or I eat steak with brocolli and cheese but I only eat like 6 bites of dinner then I'm done. The chicken in the crockpot is the only chicken I have found I can eat since it sits in a cup of water and cooks so its rly rly moist to where it just falls apart. Maybe I should try eating more idk -
