Ill be honest I smoked all til I walked into the hospital for surgery and then as soon as I got in the car to go home I lit a cig. My dr told me to quit when I'm rdy. So now I have chantix but waiting til feb 14th to start it

My doctor only requires liquids for 2 days after surgery

The psych eval is rly easy I had to answer questions that were beyond stupid questions idk how many times it asked me if I was suicidal or addicted to drugs. It also asked me if people enjoy goin to the dentist I put idk cuz I only know that I don't but as far as the whole world idk. Then I talked to the therapist who just wanted to make sure I knew the band was only a tool to help lose weight that it wasn't going to do it for me.

My surgery was today and I was only allowed to wear the hosptial gown and cap and cotton socks. They said underwear is actually in the way idk how tho lol. I've had only gas pains but I'm taking gas x mouth dissolve tongue strips. My dr went ahead and gave me a partial fill but since I'm only allowed liquids right now I can't tell. Good luck!

Well everything went smoothly now I'm on my way home from the hospital!! Just mostly gas pain and like everyone said it just feels like I got punched in the stomache but its tolerable pain!

I'm so excited its finally almost here!! I will be arriving at Baptist Hospital in Nashville tn at 5:30am! Surgery is at 7:30am! I'm so excited but also nervous I will be off work for 2 wks so that's exciting lol. The only thing I'm rly not excited about is being away from my fiance for a few days! He just got hired on at the nissan plant and is on probabtion so he can't take off work so my parents will be taking me and I will be staying with them for the first couple of days! My fiance and I have never been overnight away from each other so its gonna be strange I know we can get thru it cuz we are a strong couple its just going to be different. I will try to post tomorrow evening when I get home!! Wish me luck everyone! I'm so excited to finally be on my way to be happy with myself again!

I know that's wat I keep thinking is I'm prolly gonna want my fiance to come pick me up Friday after he gets off. I would much rather be left alone lol but I know in my first few days with me trying to drink thins it wouldn't be a good idea. But I alrdy told him I didn't care if he had to work Saturday or not he better be there to pick me up Friday lol

I read all these comments and I rly think they have lots of good info in them. I get banded in the morning. I have to arrive at the hospital at 5:30am!

Yay!!! I know I have bcbs anthem too and I got approved the same day my paperwork was submitted!! My surgery is in 5 days feb 2nd!!! Yay!!! Go us we r gonna be skinny soon!!!!

Yannabee I'm in the same boat as u my surgery is in 5 days but I'm 4ft 11 inches tall and I weigh 197 right now but I'm getting the surgery to avoid knee surgery and to hopefully help prevent me from getting diabetes cuz everyone in my family has it I know I'm over weight but not like discomfort overweight. I have a dif dr which mine wanted me to do the liquid diet for atleast a week I opted to do it 2 wks just cuz of the mentally prep it gives u. Ya I have cheated but my dr tells me he thinks he isn't goin to have any problem with my liver I'm 21 and I'm active so he doesn't think its actually gonna be in his way but I'm doin it for a precaution just in case! Well you can always find another surgeon where are you from? Why they can't get you in til december is crazy!!! Your pysch eval should be good for a yr and as long as you meet ur insurances requirements for the surgery u can switch doctors. Sometimes insurance companies can recommend surgeons too so you might want to ask them.

My bmi was actually 39 so my doctor sent me home to eat to get it above 40 since I am 21 so I just have a high risk of health problems but they have not developed yet so I went home ate everything for a week then went back and it went up to 40.9 so barely above 40 so they submit my papers showing I have a 40.9 and they approved me! I'm excited abt surgery its in 6 days! I have lost 9 pounds so far on the pre op diet but I've also cheated a couple times but when I did cheat it was with stuff that had rly low carbs. Cuz my doctor said if I just rly needed to eat then it needs to be low carb stuff!

I'm so excited I will be banded in 1 week! This pre op diet is hard but I know its worth it!!! I'm very anxious to get this going and for next Wed to hurry up and get here!!!! Its hard tho right now cuz I keep thinking dang I just want one more meal and I want it to be chinese food ugh I love chinese food so bad!!!!! But I'm sticking to this I know I can do it!!!!

Well I get banded next Wednesday so if u want any info of after surgery how it feels and how things progress ill be more than happy to share with u!

oh I just want to add that my surgeons office sent the info to insurance morning of jan 3rd and they called me back jan 3rd in the afternoon telling me insurance approved it so they approved fast. I didn't have to do a monitored diet only thing was a pshyc eval. That's it. After I did that I met the surgeon and am scheduled for next wed feb 2nd to be banded. So everything happened rly fast for me!

Oh I also know with the PPO plan the requirements were to either have a 40bmi above with a 5 yr history of being over weight and a primary care dr letter or approval or you can have a 35 bmi or above with 2 life threatening health problems

I have blue cross blue shield anthem in kentucky although I live in tn but its thru my work. I am on the EPO plan so the only requirement I had was to have a 40 bmi or above. Hope that helps!

Ugh I'm only almost done with day 2 on my pre op diet and I'm alrdy stressing out so bad! I know my fiance has good intentions by stopping to eat before he gets home but I want so badly to be able to go eat with him and have dinner with him and I can't! Its really starting to make me mad!!!!! I'm starting to think I got myself into something I'm never goin to like!

Just an update everyone!!! I started my pre op diet wed jan 19 today is Sunday jan 23 and I'm down 6 pounds! 6 pounds in 4 days!!! This coming wed will be exactly a week away from surgery and that's when I have to go strictly liquids no more 1 lean cuisine meal a day at this point tho I think I rather just drink broth and my jello then eat a lean cuisine their expensive and not so great and u can't hardly find ones with no rice or pasta or potatoes in them. I mean by all means it is way healther and less of a risk if u quit smoking before surgery but I told me doctor the truth if I quit while doing my pre op diet I'm gonna eat a freaking building so he just advised me to quit when I'm ready. I figured if I start chantix after surgery like he advised then I won't beable to smoke or eat so it seems like a better decision for me. He did say to just not smoke morning of surgery and ill be fine I'm also young I'm 21 and I've only beein smoking 2 yrs and I smoke less than a pack a day I normally just smoke a full pack every day and a half. Normally I open a pack and won't open another one til the next evening. So I'm not a heavy smoker. If it wasn't for my fiance telling me he will 100 percent support me thru my weight loss journey (cuz he is scared for me) if I just quit smoking with him after surgery. So I'm gonna quit with him to show the support back.

Rachel I just want to say I'm a smoker my surgery is in 10 days I asked my surgeon and he straight up told me he has never seen a smoker have complications during or after surgery and he has performed over 2,000 surgeries I also have friends who smoke who had the surgery and none have had any complications. I am going to start chantex so I asked him when should I start and he told me to start when I'm rdy to quit smoking whether that be before or after surgery! I hope this helps
