Since October I have been up and down within a 10 pound range. After getting completely unfilled in October because of a 14-hour vomiting episode, I made it back up to 4 cc's without feeling really restricted. Over the holidays I stopped tracking on myfitnesspal.com and also stopped losing weight. Last week I got filled to 5 cc's and now even yogurt hurts to eat. At first I thought that I could put up with this for a month until my next visit and in the process would finally lose the weight I did not in the last several months, but this is too hard. Today my diet consisted of a glass of juice, two yogurts (eaten very slowly), and some very soft over-cooked brocolli that I could not finish. I came very close to vomiting up the brocolli. I am considering calling the doctor tomorrow and asking to get a half cc removed. In the last week I have been losing more than a pound a day, which is great, but sometimes my blood sugar drops way low and sometimes I am in pain for hours after attempting to eat something as simple as Soup.

It worked. I was able to eat lentils and brocolli for my dinner. -
After Plateauing For Months I Am Now Too Tight
theodoru replied to theodoru's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went in and had a half cc removed this morning. When I was weighed, I had lost a month's worth of weight in one week. I still don't know if I will be able to eat brocolli or lentils tonight because I only brought yogurt with me to work, but I will find out tonight. -
A month ago my doctor added 1 more cc for a total of 4 cc's. I had a reaction and swelled shut, causing a 14 hour episode of vomiting 3 or 4 times an hour until the doctor completely removed everything. Now, this was the first time I had been unfilled since 3 weeks after my surgery. I expected to be able to eat anything, and I was pretty much able to. However, I did get stuck on a piece of bread and I was not able to eat as much as I did before the surgery. Yesterday I went back to get refilled. I was fearful of getting on the scale, but I had only put on 3/4 of a pound. The doctor this time only gave me 2.5 cc's, so I am not even back to where I was before the second fill. Of course, being on Clear liquids since yesterday, I have suddenly dropped 5 pounds again.

Poll: What was your longeest "episode"?

14 hours. It turned out I was not stuck. I swelled shut after a small fill. It did not end until the doctor took all the fluid out. -
Just Spent A Month With My Lap Band Unfilled
theodoru replied to theodoru's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was definitely "dieting" at 3cc's, yet I would still get stuck at the most unexpected times. Sometimes it seemed that I could eat anything I wanted, other times, expecially mornings, I could eat almost nothing. Do I think it decreased my hunger? Well, going unfilled and allowing myself to eat everything I wanted still only put on less than a pound in a month, so it must be doing something. I was losing a pound or so a week, which is a good rate with my fill. -
My next door neighbor had the gastric bypass surgery a month ago. I am giving her my shrunken-out-of jeans now. She is just starting to fit into them. In my lapband support group, we have started talking about a clothing exchange. Considering the fact that I went a little nuts when I suddenly hit regular sizes, and now those things I bought are already starting to get too big, I think helping each other out by handing down clothes makes sense.

I just got out of bed after sleeping in exhaustion all day. The doctor did meet me and it took him only a minute to remove all the Fluid and check that I could now drink some Water. I was not stuck, but had apparently experienced enough swelling after the fill to completely close up. I am still swollen and can drink only clear fluids for a couple of days. It will be a week before I can eat regular food again. The good news is that I lost 5 pounds overnight, but most of that is probably from dehydration. It is going to be 4 weeks before I go back again, so last couple of weeks I will be running on will power alone.

Right now I am in hour 4 of being stuck on a Protein smoothy. I got stuck this morning on this same smoothy so I put it in the refridgerator thinking I should be able to have it for dinner. I just drank juice all day. When I came home I drank the smoothy and no matter what I do I remain stuck. Papaya pill for the first time is doing nothing. I have vomited several times, but it is doing no good.. Since he only added 1 cc for a total of 4 cc's now, I really was not expecting this.

I just spoke to the doctor. I am going to meet him at the office at 7 am. Hope I can hold on for 6 more hours.

It is 1 AM and I have been vomiting for 8 hours now. I called the doctor's office and his answering service is paging him. I can't do this until the morning.

OMG! This is exactly what I have been thinking when I look in the mirror. I am seeing wrinkles that were never there before. However, others have told me I look 10 years younger. I guess they don't have the magnifying close-up mirror I have.

Just ate out for the first time since being banded
theodoru posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one month after surgery and 10 days after my first fill. Although I had a couple of stuck issues this week, I think I have finally mastered how to eat food. I asked for a piece from the middle of the pan which would be softer. I then ate very slowy, peeling away the eggplant peel as I went. I then stopped when I felt full. I avoided anything that had rice in it, so no stuffed grape leaves. I was really worried I would have an incident, but I was successful. Boy it was great to have some real food! -
I am only 4 weeks post op and had my first fill a week ago. 2 bites in and I knew I was in trouble. It is still happening as I am typing this. I am using the little pink vomit thing they gave me in the hospital. Right now it seems to be only saliva coming up, so I think that means I am still stuck. I don't think I will ever look at hotdogs in the same way again.

And it happened today again at work with some tuna salad. It was not as bad, but I ended up not having lunch. I think I am going to go back to mushies for a few days.
-
Yes. I had a 3cc fill a week ago.

I am more than 3 weeks post op and I still occasionally get that pain when I overdo it.

I don't miss worrying about whether I would be able to fit into the seat on the rides in Orlando when I take my grandchildren on vacation. I barely fit into the new Harry Potter ride (imagine someone jumping up and down on you trying to get the latch to click in place) last summer, and I put on even more weight after that.

My first attempt at eating real food will be next weekend at the local annual Greek food festival. Because just as I reached the point that I was going to try eating real food the doctor gave me a fill, it will have been over a month since I had something other than liquids or mushies. I will just get my favorites and bring it home to split it up over several meals.
-
My doctor says 2 days liquids, 2 days mushies, and 2 days soft foods following a fill.
-
I really was not expecting it. I was hoping to move out of the mushy stage this weekend and start eating regular food. Well, now I am on liquids again. The doctor is going on vacation in a couple of weeks and did not want me to have my first fill just just before he left in case there were any issues. It did not hurt at all. He gave me 3 ccs. I am not sure if I notice a difference at all, but maybe I will when I start eating regular food.

I am now 2 1/2 weeks post surgery. Most of the time I feel fantastic now, and tend to forget that I even had surgery. But then I overdo it and find myself incapacitated with pain. I did that just today while preparing for the hurricane. It hurts my lower left abdomen now to even walk. The good news though, is that I have started to lose weight again. I stalled out for about 10 days, and now I have lost 2 pounds since Thursday.

When will I feel normal??
theodoru replied to pinagul0tta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 weeks post op now, and I still get what feels like a "stitch" in my lower left abdomen if I undertake too much physical activity. Other than that, I feel great now. -
Mushies, some examples
theodoru replied to genesishanna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made little chicken pot pies with 2 T of blended chicken, 2 T of mashed potatoes, and 2 T of fat free chicken gravy. I have a set of 6 oz bowls that I set up and put in the freezer and fridge. I also had 2T of blended cooked carrots in a small ramekin and no sugar added apple sauce for dessert. -
For me it is my abdomen that is preventing me from getting into smaller sizes. I can see the weight loss in my feet and my face, but my abdomen is still quite large and it is very uncomfortable wearing pants that are snug in that area. I know that I have lost several inches there, but not as quickly as the other areas of my body.
