Let me get this straight...the only thing you've had has been protien drinks? Ok, did the doctor or nutritionist give you any kind of plan? Here is how my plan went: Days 1-4 clear liquid (Isopure, popcicles, Jello, broth) Days 5-14 liquids (yogurt, pudding, cream Soups, cream of wheat (made soupy) mashed potatos (made soupy) etc. Days 14-21 pureed (tuna, applesauce, chicken etc) I pretty much stuck to pureed soups and tuna Days 22-28 mushie food (refried Beans, eggs, ) Days 28 and on transition to regular food Now as days progressed you could still eat the things you had prior. By your first fill you should be eating regular food. Eating your protien first, then veggies, then carbs. You should be getting at least 60-100 grams of protien in. Your body can only absorb around 25 grams of protien at at time so your shakes or protien drinks should only be a filler or like a meal on the go (at least that's how I do it). I hope this helps you.

It seems like I've been only showing up here the night before a fill and for a few days after, but it doesn't mean I've forgotten about all of you. With my lack of a schedule this summer (due to the kids being out of school) its pretty much get up, get the house clean, and get outside. Which also means I'm not really excercising like I should, my eating isn't too aweful, I'm not gaining, and I'm hovering not really a plateau, just playing with a couple of pounds. I go for another fill tomorrow I think I am almost at my sweet spot. I really think that this one will put me at a happy place. I too love my band, but my demons keep haunting me. I think I get cocky and I subconciously freak out and that makes me stall, fortunately my band is the right thing for me and doesn't let those demons take control. Right now its an internal battle, but I am owning it and learning how to deal and move on. I am so proud of all of your successes, Ezma, Jamie, & Raps, and Crystal!

Ok, How big is your band? How much do you have in it? (most important) when did you feel restriction? I go for my third fill today, and I hope I get some type of restriction!!! My stats are 14ccband/4cc/not yet

Disney World bound-what to eat there?
valvinnek replied to my2parrots's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, please let us know where you saw that. I'm sure if we call Disney, we could find that out as well. Fortuantely, dh and I both are banded so we can split meals, and we have four children, so food really won't be going to waste. -
What is the max of CCs your doctor gives?
valvinnek replied to LundyLane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
lexi, my dr did the same thing today. I now have 9.5cc in a 14cc band (he put in 3.5cc today). I think I'm feelin it though. I ate lunch ok, dinner is hanging around longer than normal (I have major burps), I just hope that I don't have anything come back up (I ate about 3-4 hours ago) my stomach is making a lot of noise....never had that before. -
Finally have restriction...but is it too much?
valvinnek replied to travel_anna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Anna, if it were me I would wait it out, only since your not vomiting or anything. If you can get liquids down, your not going to dehydrate or anything. I would wait til Monday, if you're still that tight, I'd to the unfill, you know your body. Do what your comfortable with, if its not sitting right with you , do the unfill. Re: Crystal, that IS one of her pet peeves, but its all in doing things safely and living like a "normal person". We all want to lose weight, and have gone to great lengths to get this far, we just don't want to go from being Obese to Anorexic or trading one food disorder for another. Anna, I don't mean you at all. There are posts all over the place about people being happy that they can only eat two bites of a banana or what not and they are happy with that and that is what irritates Chrystal - people not being healthy and safe about having this weight loss tool that we worked so hard to get. Good luck! -
I went for a fill today I now have 9.5cc in a 14cc band. I hope this puts me at my sweet spot. I haven't eaten or drank anything since except the floro stuff. That was about an hour ago. I might just to liquids for the day and try food at dinner, and see how it goes.

Is my doctor crazy?
valvinnek replied to noahsmomm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry for complications. Are you getting in any protien? That will make you feel better. Isopure is pretty good, Nectar (lemonade & tea flavors). Both my dh and I have had the band but in (dh 2 weeks ago)my husband was having trouble with protien and felt kinds weak, our doctor recommended 1 scoop Muscle Milk powder with fat free milk or water, they are so yummy. My dh actually said, that the Muscle Milk was so good he could live on it. I hope this helps & hope you feel better. -
I really haven't been restricted yet, but I can tell that week before, I am praying to be tight! Right now its like I lose really good up until a week before, then I can inhale anything then after I start, I have to work off the damage from the week before. My body is insane!, but I'm learning how to take control!

The two things I have learned recently...
valvinnek replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Crystal, whats shakin? Ok, we have 2 scales, they are 4 pounds apart. Depending on what the fat scale tells me, then I go on the skinny scale, like if I had a bad day before or around my TOM. Then I go to the doctor and they say to go by thier scale. I don't know if the doctors scale is closer to the fat scale or skinny scale at home, I'm going to have to pay closer attention next time. But all I do know is that I have been doing the eliptical and now I have definition in my calves so I am getting those NSVs!!! -
OMG! I have been off my thyroid medicine for a couple of months so they could do a scan, and I was blaming my hair loss on that, but now I think its a combination of both. Fortunately, I am back on my meds, I do get over 100g of protien in a day (not really restricted yet!!!!)but my hair too is coming out. I do have very thick hair, so I'm not missing it, but its freaking me out!!!

All February 2008 Bandsters Please Read This Thread!

HI! As of June 25, I have lost 35 pounds. I have 6cc in a 14cc band. Next fill under floro on the July 3. I've had a few minor medical bumps (not band related) but, all is good now and the scale is moving again!!! -
I had my 4th fill yesterday, I now have 6 cc in a 14cc band. I wasn't feeling any restriction at all, and he said to give this a week and if I don't feel anything we will do it under floro. He said that he then could watch as I drink and he would fill me to a trickle. What exactly happens when you do a fill under floro? I get the whole fill part, but is there some kind of prep to have it done this way? I just don't want to go in blind, but so far so good with this last fill. Alyssa

Karen, your really ROCKIN!! Awesome!

That sounds easy enough!!

Your so sweet. Things are calming down here at home, so I should be around more often. The kids aren't doing two sports anymore, school is out this week, hopefully I can stop obsessing about our Disney trip in December. I want to be skinny for our trip, so I'm going to need you guys!!!
-
Oh, Crystal..... you make me smile! I was doing so good, now TOM is around the corner, next fill is on Thursday. I have opened up the vaccum. I know that this fill is going to get me to or real close to my "sweet spot". My dh is having LB surgery on Monday, so he is sorta doing the last meal thing (I'm not doing it with him), but I am sneaking in my sugary /salty carbs. DAMN THOSE CARBS!!!!!. DH goes on liquids on Saturday, I told him I would go on liquids with him. hopefully with my "buddy" and a fill I will finally get completely back on track!!!

Does anyone have any plans for after they reach their goal? Like as a reward or anything. I'm thinking of getting a tatoo. I have a small one that is my dh's name in chinese on my ankle (it was a very painful experience), but I think I would like to get a goat on a mountain (I am a capricorn), kind of a symbolic for the sign, but also for the mountain that I personally am climbing. Just something permanent to always remind me of all the work I've done to get me there. Not huge or anything, I'm thinking on the top of my foot (probably more painful than the ankle).

you crack me up!

Crystal, you guys look awesome!!!! I bet that is so much fun to do!!! -
YEEAAA!!!!! How bout that boost of confidence!! Way to go!!!
-
Ok here are my confessions: 1. I suck, I have no will power and slight restriction (thankfully, I have no idea what would happen if I didn't have that). 2) I completely sabbatoged myself. I was doing good, back on track then my son's birthday. We had a huge bash, tons of cookies, cupcakes, and brownies, coney dogs...well lets just say that the stressball that I am, I took it upon myself to graze all weekend witht the leftovers. 3) I have been off my thyroid medicine for 2 months so I can have a scan done (of which I have had to reschedule 2 times) and I know thats helping with my eating issues. I am feeling way guilty and sucky!!!! So I am here tonight reading posts, and looking at the awesome progress pics, not completely surrounding myself in sorrow, but needing that boost to get myself out of this freaking hole. I have already planned my week (www.startyourdiet.com) and hopefully I can stick to it!!!! There is my confession, I feel so much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Well, his time has come, my dh will be having surgery June 16! He was kinda hesitant, but he's seen my ups and downs, so he knows what to expect. I can't wait, just because I know how happy he will be, and for me to have a band buddy in my house!!! YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!! Does anyone else have an "in-house" band buddy???
-
Oh, and his bmi is about the same as mine was, like 41. He's 315 (6'3) and I was 250 (5'4). So our goal amounts are pretty similar, but like you marathinner, I know he'll lose more quickly, eventhough I went first!!!!

Put it this way we got fat together (he was very athletic, (football & baseball) and I was a gymnast until I was 18) . After high school we would workout together. This is all before we started dating. We didn't see eachother for a year, then when we did start dating we no longer worked out together, but we would eat toghther! So I am really excited for this!!
