Would You Do The Gastric Sleeve Again?

Interesting. I have heard about the filters being put in. I just kind of assumed they stayed there. That sucks that you had to have 3 surgeries instead of 1, but as long as everything turned out well that's all that matters. Congrats on your weight loss! -

Would You Do The Gastric Sleeve Again?
Formerly Fluffy replied to Barb7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kudos to you for speaking out! First of all I am researching VSG and currently have the band. I do NOT want to hear just the happy VSG stories. I want to hear ALL the VSG stories. Only then can I make an INFORMED decision about VSG, so I do give you credit for shareing your experience even though it's not popular to do so. I know that with the band when I was researching that there were not many speaking up about that. Those that did were attacked, so primarialy all you saw were the "happily ever after" (until it had to be removed!) lap-band stories. That being said though, recovery can vary from person to person and from the VSG'ers I have spoken with (many) the only problems I'm hearing about after recovery is GERD/Reflux. Take your time recovering and don't rush things. Keep us updated! -

Hugs! It sucks when WLS does not go as we were told it would. I have the band and never got restriction. Hoping to revise to VSG. I will say this: Almost eveyone I know LOVES their VSG, so I think after you have a little more recovery time you will feel differently. Good luck! -
Good luck with the revision. One thing I hear all the time from those that revised from the band is that VSG works the was the band was SUPPOSE to work!

Though not a recipe I wanted to share a product review that I just posted on my WLS blog: Product Review: Arctic Zero Gluten Free whey Protein Ice Cream! After hearing LIPO‘s Frank Surace rave about the gluten free, whey protein ice cream from Arctic Zero I asked him to write a product review on it. It’s also low cal! I SCREAM..YOU SCREAM..WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM..(a product review) Who doesn’t love ice cream? Frozen custard? Frozen yogurt? Sorbet? Gelato? I love all of these frozen treats, but since my weight loss surgery (Roux-en-Y) do they love me? Not so much. So I’ve been on a mission. Find a good tasting “ice cream” type of dessert that’s low in calories, high in flavor. I’ve looked high, I’ve looked low and now I don’t have to look anymore. This week I found Arctic Zero, an all-natural, smooth and creamy ice cream replacement that tastes great plus it’s guilt-free when it comes to fat and calories. Arctic Zero is a frozen Protein shake that will satisfy your ice cream craving. Arctic Zero comes in pints and bars. The pints come in 7 flavors….Chocolate, chocolate Peanut Butter, coffee, Cookies & Cream, Mint Chocolate Cookie, strawberry, and vanilla Maple. Each pint is only 150 calories. Yep, only 150 calories for a whole pint! The bars come in 4 flavors (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and orange cream). They are only 85 calories per bar. Only 85 Calories per Bar! Arctic Zero is gluten free, fat free, contains no sugar alcohols. It is suitable for lactose intolerants and has a low glycemic index making it suitable for Type 2 diabetics. And here’s the best part: Each pint has 14 grams of Whey protein and 8 grams of Fiber. 150 CALORIE PINT NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION 85 CALORIE BAR NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION But how do they taste you ask? So, ok, I’ll tell you. I tried the Vanilla Bar and the Coffee ice cream. The Vanilla bar whey protein ice cream was awesome. It was a nice size ice cream bar that has a chocolate covering. It had no after taste but more importantly, after I finishing, I felt that I had just eaten a “real” ice cream bar…and I was satisfied. The Coffee ice cream was amazing. I would recommend that you keep it out of the freezer for a while, allowing it to melt a bit. It’s smooth and has a nice texture. I scooped a little into my bowl, then a little more. Before I knew it I had eaten over ½ the pint. But here’s the great part…that was only about 80 calories. So if you’re like me and love frozen treats, you have got to try Arctic Zero! And you know the Arctic Zero gluten free whey protein ice cream product review wouldn’t be Frank’s Place if we didn’t have a song, so…….(couldn't enbed the YT video).

You will find a few bandsters that are 4 yrs. out. Much more rare to find one 5 years out.3-4 years out seem to be when a LOT of band issues happen! :-( -

I haven't tried the Body Fortress yet. But the Designer Whey I did not like. Premier is good and it has 30g. -
I'm with Amanda on the closing down part. That is something I always warn ppl about with Curves. I know in AL and GA at least, they seem to always be closing. So you could sign and pay the joining fee and monthly fee just to find out it's closing in 2 or 3 weeks! Buyer beware!!!

Considering Vsg A Year After Band Removed....
Formerly Fluffy replied to Vicki0618's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been researching VSG revision for about a yr. now. I still have my band, but would have it removed immediately if I could afford it. Everyone that I know that revised from band to VSG is sooooooo much happier with VSG!!! -
Was Anyone Healthy But Just Fat?
Formerly Fluffy replied to missmeow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was not diagnosed with any co-morbidities prior to WLS, but I knew if I didn't get they weight off that my health would have gone down hill. It was inevitable. Now as far as the band, I would not recommend that to my worst enemy, so I am glad they they directed you to VSG (I am hoping to revise to it myself.) I do however think RNY and DS are also good WLS optioins. Anything BUT the band! -

Still Sitting On The Fence,
Formerly Fluffy replied to chunkychic30's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WLS is a difficult decision for some, however all those I know that have had VSG, their afterthought is "why didn't I fo this sooner?". The sooner you have it, the sooner you can start enjoying a healthy life! As far as the husband, he is being extremely SELFISH! He should be supporting you all the way. This is something that will benefit you and the whole family. You want to be around longer for the kids, and you want to be able to have QUALITY time with them. However you can't change other ppl. Do what you can to change YOU! You'll be glad you did! :-) -

Psa: Oopsie! One Million Birth Control Pill Packets Recalled
Formerly Fluffy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since pregnancy should be avoided the first year or 2 after WLS I wanted to share this article about the bc pill recall: Well ain’t that some ****?! ONE MILLION PFIZER BIRTH CONTROL pills RECALLED! Hope you all didn’t plan on those really working! Surprise! One Million Birth Control Pill Packets Recalled Filed under: Adverse Effects,Women’s Contraception,Women’s Health — Mike Mitka Improper packaging of certain birth control pills manufactured by Pfizer and sold under the Akrimax Pharmaceuticals brand may leave women without adequate contraception, putting them at risk for unintended pregnancy. (Image: FDA) Pfizer is withdrawing a reported 1 million packets of birth control pills because errors in how the pills were packaged may put women at risk for unintended pregnancy. The company is recalling 14 lots each of Lo/Ovral-28 (norgestrel and ethinyl estradiol) Tablets and Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets (generic), intended for customers in the US market. The tablets were manufactured and packaged by Pfizer and marketed by Akrimax Rx Products under the Akrimax Pharmaceuticals brand. These products are packaged in blister packs containing 21 tablets of active ingredients and 7 tablets of inert ingredients. Adequate contraception depends on a woman taking the proper pills in a designated sequence. The products were distributed to warehouses, clinics, and retail pharmacies nationwide. In an investigation, Pfizer found that some blister packs may not contain the proper number of inert or active ingredient tablets and that some of the tablets might be out of sequence. As a result, the daily regimen for these oral contraceptives may be incorrect and could leave women without adequate contraception and at risk for unintended pregnancy. Pfizer said that women who took the recalled pills should begin using a nonhormonal form of contraception immediately and urged patients who have taken the recalled medications to notify their physicians and return any unused tablets to the pharmacy. Any adverse events that may be related to the use of these products should be reported to Akrimax Medical Information at 1-877-509-3935 (8 AM to 7 PM Central standard time, Monday through Friday) or to the US food and Drug Administration’s MedWatch Program either online, by regular mail, or by fax. For regular mail, use the postage-paid, preaddressed Form FDA 3500; to fax, dial 1-800-FDA-0178 (1-800-332-0178). Information about the lot numbers of the affected packets of birth control pills can be found here.- 8 replies
