  1. I was banded 1/20. Just started to take the mushy foods. Haven't had a fill yet. Wondering how many fills it took for you to get good restriction.
  2. I was banded 1/20 and I am on a strict 2 wk liq diet. I have cheated a tiny bit bc doing the preop liq diet then 2 weeks post op is very try. I am curious about what type of diet your doctor has you on? Are you supposed to be eating chix salad?
  3. Hi Andy,

I thought I posted earlier on the above. I can't figure out how to use this site. I had lapband at bwh on 1/20. Today was my difficult day for keeping with the liq diet. I cheated alittle today too. Vomiting is the thing that will really mess your band up, that's why they want you to keep to liq for 2 weeks your band could move. Try to minimize the cheating til after y...

  4. Hi Andy, I also had lapband by BWH surgeon Dr. Ali T......name to long and to hard to spell. I have been feeling great too. I am 6 days post lap band and as you, I am doing the liquid diet and I had my breaking point today. I tried some food too and was wondering if other people found it easy to do the 2 weeks with just liquids. So I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one. I spoke with my surgeon today, the main reason for the liquids is post op swelling can last up to 2 weeks. One of the biggest things that will mess up your lapband is throwing up. It can reposition or change its position which can cause a problem. Carbonated beverages can stretch the lapband as well. Also if there is still welling at the band site the opening could be smaller than what you're eating and something could get stuck. If things get stuck it could back up and cause you to throw up. That is my understanding anyway. Also if there is no swelling then the band is totally open and you don't really have any restriction so if you eat reg food, then you are going to stop loosing as much weight as you have been. I believe we don't actually get the band filled til 6 weeks post op-so in six weeks of eating food with no restriction you may see some of that weight loss disappear. I am trying to keep my cheating to a minimum -but trying to keep sane as well bc the desire for real food is so great. Also cooking dinner for my family is so difficult not to pick at their food while I'm cooking. Tonite I had a few bites of homemade mac and cheese and some of a choc chip cookie!Yikes! But that got me thru. One thing I keep telling myself is it is so easy to self sabotage, when u know you can cheat it is so much more tempting. I keep trying to tell myself 1 more week of liqs is worth the outcome, so I am going to say the same to you. Try to keep the reg food to a minimum until you see your MD at your post op check-you will be much happier with the results if you do.
  5. The only time to weigh yourself and get a true weight is 1st thing in the morning after you've gone to the bathroom before you've eaten. Your weight changes thoughout the day based on what you eat and drink.
  6. My story is the same as yours. 38 years old. Heavy since a child. 5"4 222. I will be banded on 1/20. Hope your surgery went well and look forward to hearing your experience. I have to do the liquid diet for 10 days. Haven't been that hungry yet. I can eat 1 meal/day. Please let me know how you made out. We too have several people not so excited for the surgery. My husband is very supportive though.

    Very discouraged.. and worried

I am 1 week out before having the lap band. The statistics that I was given is 40-45% of weight loss of your total ideal weight over 2 years. Are you being too hard on yourself? Don't give up. It's only been 6 months. So if you are 300lbs you will loose about 120lbs over 2 years which translates to 5 lbs a month-which is what you are at now. I have no idea what your starting weight is but this is just an example. You are not a failure, keep trying. quote name='Ninababy' timestamp='1294677423' post='1557873'] I am 6 months out from being banded.. and I have only lost around 30 pounds. I feel like a huge failure! I am doing what I thought was right.. but I still get very very hungry at times and I know eat more than I should but I keep it to Protein if I can... I am working much harder than I thought! I have had 5 fills!! I have about 8.5CC in a 14 CC band... I thought I would be down so much more! the scale does not budge. I have yogurt ( greek) for breakfast... some greens with Tuna or chicken for lunch with lemon juice... and then protein ( chicken, turkey or fish) and vegs for dinner.. and very tiny amount of Carbs... like a spoon full. I get really hungry after dinner!! I have a little high fiber cereal and skim milk... I drink tea..decafe... with splenda.. I just have not dropped in a couple months. Not a pound... I am starting to think this band is not working for me... Anyone ever have success after a very long plateau? What jump started you....? give me some hope... or otherwise advise...
