    What vitamins are you taking?

I take a Flinstone chewable multivitamin and two calcium chews a day. The Flinstone's vitamin is pretty gross but tolerable.

    Carbs intake?

I am still on the soft foods stage and it is much better than the liquids! I was told to eat majority protein then vegetable. Haven't been eating a lot of carbs. Best of luck to you! Enjoy eating again!

    one week post op!

Great news! I felt the same way after about 8 or 9 days. Don't over do it. You still need time to heal but you are right it does get better now!
  5. That really stinks!!! I would be so bummed if I went and they didn't do a fill. I can't believe you have to wait until March! Hang in there, remember why you did this and that it will get better!

    Putting it all out there...

I'm glad you posted this and were completely honest. I have read some harsh comments about topics like this and it has always left me sad since I know how important it is to have this support! I am almost a month post op now and finding it very difficult to stay on the soft food diet since I feel starving and no restriction. I eat and then an hour later I'm hungry again. Not a day goes by where I don't think "Why don't I try ___-(insert favorite foods) and see how it goes?" I am more afraid that I will find that I CAN eat anything and will not be able to stop!!! So I'm not in the same situation exactly but I get where you are coming from. I hope you get some support from this site and feel comforted that others know how you feel. Best of luck!

    Oesophagus pain or feeling

I sometimes get that feelling too and wondered what it was. So far it has been when I had a new food or if I ate too quickly. I have assumed that it is acid reflux but feels different since the band. Let us know what you find out.
  8. Thanks for the information! I think I'll go on Amazon and buy it right now. Let us know what recipes come out good!

    RESTRICTION IS HERE! 14ml band, M, 25

Congrasts on finally getting some restriction! I hope that I will be feeling that way soon too. I agree wtih Dave about the calories though, I have read a lot on here about people having major stalls in their weight loss because of not getting enough calories. My doctor recommends 1,000 which I am trying to reach at this point. Congrats again. Let us know how you are doing.
  10. Hi everyone! Glad I found this post. I was banded on December 29th and go for my first fill in two days. Our office does it 4 weeks out now since so many people are getting very hungry between fills! I have been reading back a little bit and suprised that some you can eat 1/2 cup of food and feel satisfied. I really hope that will be the case for me. Right now I'm focusing on getting about 900 calories a day and reaching my protein goal. My only "issue" is that I am going way over my protein requirements. Since all I eat is protein and vegetables (which seem limited) I find it hard to keep my protein down. Does anyone else have this issue or does anyone know if this is a problem? I also found that when I was eating less that I did not lose weight. When I started eating 800-900 calories I started losing again. Got under 240 this past week so I'm psyched! Haven't been there for about three years!!! Have a great day everyone! Jenn

    How much do you eat?

Great question! I had my surgery on the 29th of December as well. I go for my first fill on Wednesday so I'm anxious to see how it will change things. Right now I set my goal for 900 calories a day. I eat three meals a day and I don't meausre in terms of cups. I imagine most meals I eat more than a cup and I am still VERY hungry. I am very excited to get a fill! How have you been feeling? Are you feeling satisfied with a cup of food? We should join a group for those who had surgery the same time! Hope to chat with you more. ScaredI

I can totally relate! I was so excited and impatient about the waiting process and then when I was finally approved I started getting really anxious! I started wondering if I was doing the right thing; if I should just try to "diet" again; if I could really do it. I was banded Dec. 29, 2010 and I am very happy with my progress so far. I do not regret it for one minute and know that I made the right decision. I know for a fact if I had not done this I would have not lost 27 pounds so far. So keep informed but don't drive yourself crazy, we all had doubts. Good luck!
  14. Good for you! That is so exciting! I can't wait until my "goal pants" fit. Enjoy the reward, you are obviously doing something right!

New Year, New You Challenge 2011

Sorry I am late to weigh in but I had my surgery on Wednesday (three weeks ago) so I'm trying to keep my weigh in weekly. I am VERY excited to report that I lost 4.5 pounds this week. I feel like shouting it from the rooftops!!! I increased my calories this week and I'm pretty sure that is what made the difference. I only made it on the tredmill twice but plan to do at least three days this week. Great job everyone! We can do this! Welcome Chloe! Jenn Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Nutrition Facts For Foods

    How Long

Seems awfully early to me to start solids I was banded December 29th and am still on soft foods only. I often wonder if I could handle solids but have heard that it is better to give your body time to heal. My diet is a month long, 2 weeks of liquids and 2 weeks of soft foods then I start slowly adding solids. My surgeon has 7+ years experience and I trust him completely. I would slow down and go soft foods for awhile. No reason to rush. Good luck.

    My teeth...weird I know

Strangely enough I have felt the same way (surgery December 29th) and wondered if it was all the Protein shakes. Sorry I'm no help but know you are not alone! Interested to see what others have to say on this subject.
  18. Does anyone have a calorie range that they are or were shooting for 2-3 weeks after surgery and beyond? I was told that I would eventually have a goal of 1,000 calories but all of my paperwork with suggested food plans is much lower (anywhere from 400 to 600 calories). I was always under the impression that consuming that few calories would make your body hold on to everything it could because it thinks you are starving yourself. I know that was before the band but doesn't it still make sense? It seems like our bodies need more than that to thrive. Please any suggestions or experience would be helpful. Thanks, Jenn

    TWO WEEKS POST-OP . . . NEED ADVICE

I have had the same issue actually. I lost 6.5 pounds the first week and barely squeezed out a half a pound the second week. I keep telling myself that it is normal and will get better but it is discouraging! I would think with how little we are eating/drinking that we would be dropping pounds like crazy. What I have read from other posts says that the first month is really a healing time and that we shouldn't expect to lose much. That it really takes until we get the fill to see the big difference. Congrats on the 14 pounds, that is awesome! May I ask if you lost any pre-op? I lost 16 pounds pre-op so I expected post op to be a little slower. Hang in there and best of luck!

    My addiction

I couldn't agree with you more. I just want you to know that you are not alone. I was banded December 29th and there have been many days where I just want to stay in bed thinking "how am I going to avoid food all day?" I realized over these past few months how EVERYTHING I do revolves around food. If I'm going out somewhere, I look forward to where we get to eat. If I go to a party, I look forward to the food. Even if I go out with my kids I look forward to the foods we can enjoy togehter. Now in the morning I think "why can't I just sleep while everyone else is eating?" I feel pitiful, ashamed, embarrased and like no one understands. It feels ridiculous to reallize how important food is to me and so hard to figure out how to change it! I have so many great things going for me, great kids, great husband, great family, great job... Now I have to reframe my mind to enjoy it all without the addiction of food. I hope that we can all work on this together. Let's keep in touch and find ways to help one another. Hang in there! Jenn

    Post Op Frustration

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time. I felt very similar to you for the first 8 or 9 days and wondered when I would feel better. I am now two weeks post op and feeling sooooo much better! I started having a rough time with some shakes after surgery. My dietician recommended stopping any shakes with soy in them and that has helped. In fact I tried one yesterday and could not drink more than a few sips without feeling nauseous. What shakes are you drinking? Maybe try a different shake and drink very slowly. Also I was told not to lay down for at least two hours after eating and that has helped. Don't worry you will be feeling better very soon! Let me know how you are doing. Good luck!

    Banded on December 29th

Hi there. I'm new to this site as well and just got banded on the 29th. I have "only" lost 6.5 pounds and I am pretty happy about it. I have heard that the first month is about healing and not to expect a lot of weight loss especially since we are barely eating anything. Also I'm still a little sore but get really sore if I over do it. Give yourself some time. How are you doing with the diet? Congrats on the 11 pounds, that is great!!!
