    ONE WEEK!

Wow, I can't believe its been one week already. I feel pretty good. Im a lil sore still around my port site but doing very well. I started my college classes on Tuesday and wasnt very comfortable sitting in those stupid desks, lol. I am taking Ethics and Psych. Its gonna be crazy. I go back to work on Friday night and Im a lil nervous about that. I am nervous about how I am going to react and how Im going to adjust to eating that first night back. I guess I will need to take a nap, lol. I also have my post op appt with my surgeon on Friday. I will let ya'll know how it goes. I will also prolly post a blog when I am at work on Friday night, if Im not too busy, lol. Ohhhhh I weighed myself today and I have lost 5.5 poounds since surgery (not including the 4 pounds of air they put inside me for the surgery, lol). I have been doing good with my protein drinks and walking. Yesterday I went to the mall after I had lunch and walked around for an hour. I felt good. A lil tired when I went to my next class but still felt pretty good. I am only taking the pain medicine now when it really hurts, which isnt very often now. So I think I am doing pretty well. lol Well Im gonna go walk to my mailbox (which is pretty far, lol) to get my exercise for the day.

    Meeting the new me..

That is such an awesome way to look at it. I too have been overweight my entire life. When I was 3 I was a normal weight for my age but I was 3, lol. I can see the weight loss already in my face and already confused my reflection in a mirror with a stranger staring at me, lol. I was a lil embarrassed by that. But its crazy that things like that happen. I can not wait to go shopping for clothes that arent priced extra because they are larger sizes. I wish you so much luck and hope that I can keep up the way that I am going.

    Returning to work

I am a nurse and I took nine days off. I feel great and everyone I work with is a big help if I cant quite get something accomplished. Port site still a lil sore but not too bad. I am still wearing an abdominal binder though, just until I feel comfortable without it, lol.

I feel lots better now and have even lost 5.5 pounds since surgery (not including the 4 pounds of air they put inside me, lol) Good Luck on your journey!

  15. GRRRR I just tried to post a blog 3 times and it didn't work. Basically I'm 1 day post op and a lil scared of eating anything like pudding. I have been sipping my water and tea and broth and I'm not hungry but soooo thirsty. *sigh* Finally got my pain meds today after an ordeal with my insurance and the walmart. So I'm feeling a lil better now. I didn't realize how much this would hurt, lol.

  16. My surgery was yesterday, Jan 12, 2011. I was told to be there at 8am (I am a night-shifter so that was really early for me.) I was scheduled at noon. I got there they took my vitals, asked me questions, started my IV signed my consents. The anesthesiologist came and talked to me and then they gave me two valium. I was txting a friend when it finally took affect and lets just say that it was a messed up txt, lol. They took me back to the OR at 10:45am. I scooted over to the other table, they strapped my arms down and then the next thing I knew I was waking up with my all of my friends and my DH around me. I apparently was complaining of some nausea so they gave me some Zofran. (I don't remember that) I was taken to radiology as soon as I woke up enough and had the barium swallow. I took 6-8 xrays. After the first one I had to walk around and drink some warm tea to get it movin good. And of course I am a nurse so I knew exactly what I needed to do to get out of there the same day. I was up walking and walking and walking. I sipped some tea and drank maybe half a cup. I had some pain that I rated at a 6-7 and so they gave me morphine (I had never had before) and it didn't phase me at all. Then they gave me some liquid lortab and that stuff worked great. So my doc called in my scripts to the Walmart. It took them forever to get them filled. I had forgotten my wallet so I didn't have my insurance card soooooooo. I didn't get my pain medicine until today at about 4pm. Crazy crazy stuff with walmart and my insurance. Anyway I was at home around 6pm yesterday. Well then I realized that we had just moved and we didn't have any furniture in our living room and there was no way in hell that I was going to be able to lay flat on my bed. So we went to my grandmother's house and stayed the night there. She is giving me the recliner so we should be going home tonight. I have had some awful gas pain that is relieved with gas x strips and the pain is better now that I have my pain meds. I really need an abdominal binder but the only one I could find is $52 and I forgot to ask for one from the hospital, lol. So I guess I can just deal with that. Because there's no way I can afford that, lol. But that's my story. Other than the millions of xrays to make sure the barium went through was pretty typical. oh and he had to take a biopsy of my liver because I had some fatty deposits on it already. He basically said it was a very good thing that I had this surgery when I did. So yeah! lol I'm gonna go rest in my recliner now. =)
  17. My surgery is tomorrow also! I have lost 12 pounds. I know what you mean about the eating your arm off thing, lol. Good Luck to you!
  18. Hi Everyone! I am new to this online support stuff. I will just introduce myself. My name is Chandra and I am from Texas. I have been overweight my whole life. When I was 18 I was diagnosed with PCOS and told I would never have children. That led to a depression which led to even more weight gain ontop of what I had already gained. (which was the reason I went to the doc in the first place) I began thinking of the lap band in 2008 when I had my gallbladder removed and my surgeon said that I really really needed to lose weight if I was going to consider children. Well I have a very difficult time losing the weight due to the PCOS. I began the approval proccess once before in mid 2009. Then I lost my insurance and my job. So that put a halt to that. Well now I have a better job and good insurance. I started my proccess back in October 2010. I saw my surgeon and the nutritionist. Then I had my psych eval. Had a couple more appts with the nutritionist and a few days before Christmas I got a phone call saying that my insurance approved me. After the holidays on Tues the 4th I saw my surgeon again. I scheduled my EGD (required by my surgeon) and my surgery. I signed all my consents and then started my liquid diet the next day. So far I am on Day # 4 of the one week liquid diet. My EGD is scheduled for Mon the 10th and my surgery is on Wed the 12th. I am soooo nervous and excited at the same time. I am ready for my life to change. I have been married to my husband for almost 5 years. He is very supportive and excited for me as well. I am a nurse and I will be staying at the hospital that I work at, lol. So I guess thats all that I have to say right now. =)
  19. I am soooo ready to get off work and go home and sleep! Being at work and on a liquid diet is really super hard. So much temptation! lol
