I have not had a Band (I have about a week left to decide Sleeve (Scary), Band (Drama), so I can't really help you, but I will point out that I notice on these posts a lot of people's problems, struggles with the Band seem to be overly blamed on the Bandster. There is a lot of negativity and these 'helpful' posts seem to be more about arguing fine nuances of points or flaming others posts than anything else. It works for some and not others. I think a lot of the issues with the Band is that they are marketed as something different than they are. I want a reduction in hunger, I want to not to have to work as HARD as many here do. To me it is sounding like a Tool that really won't work like I'd want it to. I understand your frustration with being able to 'test the band, and it wins everytime'. So, I say, call the Dr, start there. Luckily it has worked so far, hopefully it will continue to do so. Good Luck

I think the OP is talking of the woman who just got banded and wants it out. That woman is just scared, and don't discount the feeling of the band/pain,change in general, etc making her more scared. -
I'd bet that you may need to take off your band. I read something about this being caused by damage to the Valgus nerve and the band can press on that. (mayo clinic information) Maybe with the band gone, your nerve will recover (they always do a bit) and if there is any pressure on it, that will be gone as well, if the band stays it might get worse?

You need a new Doc. POSTHASTE. What a A$$. Easy for him to *blame* you for the failures of HIS surgery! Easy for him to say! It sounds like the same rhetoric that I've heard about diet failures for years..now transferred to Band. Now, as far as how to fix, I'd read here what people tell you and try to work it for a while. I myself am deciding on Band vs Sleeve, so I can't give advice. But, tell you, it isn't your fault. -
Still hate my band

Wow, many here are more busy arguing with other things people said instead of ansering the question. The topic starter should *start* by reading the dietary information. lots of it. You have the Band, try it before you pull it. I have not had surgery, I am considering the Band or the Sleeve. All the "working" makes me nervous, as the work i've done this far hasn't worked. Maybe the poster needs to consider the Sleeve IF this doesn't work out, give it 6 months, a year.. I'd NEVEr do a Bypass or anything that messes up my intestines-I'd rather stay fat! It does suck to get this surgery, think that you won't be hungry and will be able to lose weight. It seems a lot of a tool (in the bad and good sense of the word). Try to learn what you can as long as you can stand it..and ignore all the people's 'political' discussions! -

Lap Band Attaching To Muscle/Organs
renniemommietoo replied to neyad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had no WLS yet, but I can say when Dr.s here trash Mexico it is just Dr. Prejudice! Dr.s in Columbia (the country) trash US Doctors..it never ends. I've had excellent care in Mexico and would go in a heartbeat. Millions of Mexican go to Drs in Mexico every day! -
One question, I would think if you are self-pay, complication from surgery or not, if it is medically ness (like scar tissue wrapped around your intestines!). I would think you could get it fought to be covered. Cause the Lapband surgery is done. But, if you didn't fix the scar tissue you could die. See if you can protest or fight that one.

Call Dr. Tell weight situation. Maybe payment plan. Beg, borrow, steal $75 bucks from friends/family to start off-Get everyone to give you a tiny bit. Sounds a bit too tight.

I have repeatedly lost a lot of weight following low-carb.The ONLY thing that has ever lost weight for me. I wonder about being able to do it post-band, since meat and veggies seem to get 'stuck'. (I haven't a surgery yet). Don't bother with the whole dang book,it's is a hassle, in fact he had a different version back in the 70's that was based on "the drinking man's diet". Don't eat white fluff and crap! I made a chart of veggies, etc gram counts for 1/2 cups and then wrote everything down. 15 grams is called "induction", where the most loss is and not something i'd recommend long term, all the way up to 60 grams a day, which is good too. 15-60 a day, no fluff and your good. My trick is staying that way, hence why I'm looking at surgery..

What was the straw that broke the camel's back for you?

Sucky thing is, obviously overweight people aren't getting on that ride, but it is also your body SHAPE. I am tall and very hippy plus the never go away gut after a kid. The seat is like a child car set. hard plastic frame around your thighs, a piece between your legs, tight on shoulder, then, then the chest bar that comes down. There wasn't anywhere for my fat to swish to! A LOT of people where having issues with it. I think they need a car that is for larger people. But a family of tomato people got off the ride after me. All chins and chests and they got to ride. I didn't tell my friends that I didn't get on, I told them it was great (which it was). Sucked though..2 hour wait for nada.. -
Less carbs.. Get on that equipment a few times a week.

I eat too much. Period. I also know that as a kinder we didn't have enough money for good food, I SAW little food in the house, I get panicky when there is little in the house, I et I can figure out where to store some... Also, with empty carbs being the food around, I got a taste for sugar. Sugar monster! Later in Jr high, not many friends, so food and books were great. Also, Family tends to big, I look like my aunt. And a bit lazy, exercise? ugh...

At Delarla: I tend to the obsessive as well. Also, daytime not drinking enough Water can hide as hunger at night. My friend who is way more obsessive than me just started taking Efferal (?), some kind of Anxiety medication and I can totally see the change in her in just a few weeks. Her obsessive and anxiety was damaging her life, as it sounds yours is.

Keep the "fat" comments coming.....
renniemommietoo replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd give Gramma and Grandpa a "come to Jesus" with the fat comments. You need love love love from them. I don't care their "reasons". Grandpa's can be boneheads, Granma's were young women once and may not be happy about their change into elders..You have the power to stop it. Talk to em, then later when they slip (and they will) correct them again and then change the subject, has to be something else to talk about than the #s on a scale. -
Heading to Mexico in a.m. to be banded
renniemommietoo replied to mmarshalynne's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mexico is safe and clean and professional. I've had other (non WLS) medical treatment there and would return in a heartbeat (i've had dental, IVF and general medical). My only issue with Mexico is you can't sue for malpractice! Hopefully a family goes to support you. Kinda silly for them all to stay behind, they are worried for you-so they leave you out to dry? Not cool.. Good luck. You will be fine and well taken care of. -

renniemommietoo replied to southerngirl24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh...HA! I forgot about this one, my PRE Aha moment. Went to Universal Studios in Florida from Texas. Harry Potter been open 2 weeks. They couldn't get "3" clicks on the safety bar, only 2...I did NOT GET TO RIDE HARRY POTTER! Ya'd think that would have done it, but it was the party in Sep that did it... -

Lightly dancing on my porch at my husbands b-day party I felt my knee pop. I had ACL surgery 6 years ago (I haven't had MRI yet, since I am not crazy about doig that surgery again), but that was it! The frosting on that cake was the pictures of cute BUT fat me at the party. 40 fat and done... -
On the fence-both surgeries have things I can't take.
renniemommietoo posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So here I am. Finally hit BMI 40. Yeah... I am also about to lose my insurance that pays for WLS. Doing the diet right now. Thought I wanted Band. No surgery for me! But... Fears of no insurance coverage for maintenance, ways to check for leaks, self-pay for fills not happy (when I get a job myself, maybe my insurance will be better than the one hubby is getting). Have read alot about stomach erosion, slippage, never finding sweet spot, throwing up, chewing food to pulp, complications and many stories of Revised to Sleeve people. Read about Sleeve; major surgery risks to be sure, but assuming (you know what they say about that..), it all goes well, sounds more livable, but since the Ghrelin part of your stomach is gone, many, many are also cold, the Ghrelin also regulates temp, these people are cold all the time, 1/2 your stomach is gone forever and B12 really should be supplemented (I can handle the B12, but what else is lurking?)... Thinking, take my chances with the Band, hope something better comes out that is covered by some unknown future insurance when/if fails? Thinking deal with being cold, but able to not eat like a bird and thinner forever.. Been on forums for days, getting more blue about all choices. My stats BTW are 40 year old Mom, 40BMI, 5 9", totally healthy otherwise, some knee problems! Renniemommie -
