  1. I am a Canadian nurse and work in recovery room. How long did you take off work after your surgery? I am the main breadwinner, and I don't have much sick time. Anyone applied for EI to cover this? Thanks, Laura

    Banding in the West

Does anyone know of surgeons (besides Drs. Amson and Rusnak) who are doing bands in BC or Alberta? In private clinics? Thanks, Laura
  3. Hi, Does anyone know of any good counsellors in Victoria BC? I am at the beginning of my LapBand journey (I hope) and I am thinking I need some counselling to address my emotional eating issues. Thanks, Laura

What Name Do You Go By?

I married at the ripe old age of 37, so I had had my last name for quite a while, and I kept it. Also it is easier (Wilson vs. Rasmussen), and I didn't feel like changing my nursing registration, etc. However, when our dd was born, we/I stuck her with my dear hubby's last name. My dh would have gladly taken my last name, or we once joked that we should become the Wilmussens. Laura
  5. Just wondering what made you choose banding vs. bypass? I am researching weight loss surgery for myself, and I am leaning towards banding. Anyone viewing here who choose bypass? Laura

    Hey PRE-Banders...!

I'd like to be able to sit on the floor and play 'Polly Pocket' with my daughter. I'd like to buy nice undies, too:) I'd like not to be tired all the time. I'd like to be able to camp in a tent and go on long hikes when we finally get to do our trip to the Rockies and Drumheller. That will do for now! Cheers, Laura
  7. Hi, my name is Laura and I am a 46 yr old nurse from British Columbia, Canada. Coincidentally, my BMI is 46, too and I am considering banding. I am probably going to go to a private clinic or the US because banding isn't covered by my provincial health insurance anyway, and if I decide to do it I don't want to wait 2+ years. Any info you Canadian folks have about banding (especially where to go) would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Laura
