  1. I had my surgery on January 7th. I'm down a total of 25 lbs, which is GREAT, but I haven't lost a pound in about a month and a half. Clothes are fitting me better, but I'm frustrated. Any ideas on how to get off this plateau? Also, looking for some great ideas to exercise without the gym - any feedback is GREATLY appreciated! thanks

  2. I'm super excited that my surgery is this Friday! My surgeon only has me on a two-day, pre-op liquid diet which I started today... I am SO hungry! I'm ready to eat my shoe at this point but nope, it's not liquid, so the shoe will have to wait. I'm sure once I have the surgery, the feeling will change. I live in the Los Angeles area and have struggled with weight my whole life. All my fat is like a monster-truck tire around my mid section.... Boy, I can't wait to see that disappear! I'm 37 yrs old, 5'6, 227 lbs with a goal to lose about 80 lbs. My husband and friends are very supportive, although there are some that are not as excited. My husband has also been very fit his whole life and when he's "let himself go" it means he has 10-15 lbs to lose, which he does after running a couple miles each day for a couple of weeks. He has no idea how to process my struggles and doesn't understand the emotional turmoil that comes with the weight problems I've had. We have no children and have had difficulty conceiving, so I am hoping that losing weight can help us with that. With all that being said, I am hoping to find a buddy (or more) to share this experience with and help each other thru the journey. Hope to hear from you!
  3. I drink those EAS shakes, too. Those and the Atkins shakes. I will have to check walmart out, there aren't any really close but I go out to super fantastic walmart in Santa clarita all the time to do my runs. I have the flavorless soy protein powder from trader joes. I'm gonna have to wait to use it and add to oatmeal, etc cuz it's super thick. I will definitely have to check out those protein shots... Anything to help me get it down quick. I'm finding myself getting grossed out on the sweetness and consistency of the protein shakes but try to force it down anyway. Thanks for the recommendations! Boy, I can't wait to have some thicker consistency food. But I do love my soup, so yay for that!
  4. Protein is supposed to help the healing. Do what you can to meet your surgeons recommendations, but do what feel right or your body. You just want to heal so you can start using the tool. I'm doing my best to get some protein in. I tried trader joes protein powde in some v8. All I have to say s NO. It was disgusting and went down the drain. I'm just making sure i Have plenty of fluids and am drinking my soups and broths at meal times. I'm also hunting for liquid vitamins but I I'm gonn have to buy online.

  6. I've been drinking tea non stop and watered down soups and broths. I just keep getting painfully bloated. I tried a protein shake today for the first time. It grossed me out and took a couple hours, but I got it down. It's too hard to drink much when I'm feeling so puffy. Other than the bloat, I only have some soreness where my port was implanted but I'm ok otherwise. I've been making sure to walk every day but it's just not helping with this gas. Any ideas?
  7. Hello ladies! My name is Rachel and I am getting banded this coming Friday. I'm super excited and super nervous. I don't know anyone else who is going through this and was hoping to find someone to go through it together. I read your posts and thought I should try to reach out. Anyway, my dr only has me on the pre-op liquid diet for two days (which adds to my nervousness because most posts I have come across say 2 weeks. Interestingly, I havent even had the surgery yet and I have split reactions from my friends and co-workers. I feel like I am being negatively judged, like people think this is an easy way out... It's quite frustrating and disheartening and makes me second guess the decision. However, I am doing this. I am tired of struggling and beating myself up for failure after failure. I am really excited about this new chapter and hope that I can find a support system that understands my situation. (my husband is very supportive, but at his worst was 10, maybe 15 lbs overweight. But he just gets on a treadmill for a couple weeks, and it falls off no problem). Ok, guess I should stop rambling and see what happens. Good luck to us all!
