Wow. I was told any pill could get stuck and require surgery! I have been crushing everything. I will give it a couple months and ask again.

I was told I could never again drink sodas, champagne or beer unless they go flat. BUT, no on ever said I wouldn't ever be able to take a small pill or capsule. This is torture. I can't imagine not being able to take pills the rest of my life. Everything tastes awful opened up and crushed and in liquid form!

I was drinking sips of water fine until today and now they feel stuck. The doctor at my 2 days post op said I have a ton a swelling still. But this is a scary feeling. Anyone else feel panicked?

Day 3 and water feels stuck!

I spoke to the doctor and they want me to come in and have some air removed from the device. I didn't think they put air in it. Just saline. He said I will feel 100% better but car riding makes me so nauseous and uncomfortable right now. I am dreading that more. -
Thank you for all the great information!

I have been having little panic attacks about what I did to my body. My husband says when I feel better I won't be having these regrets. Did anyone else have these feelings? I feel weird and uncomfortable having a foreign object in my body and am having a hard time getting past this feeling. Help!

Are you feeling better? I am about 48 hours out from surgery and not doing well. It hurts to yawn! When does it start to get better? -
March 2011 Bandsters
momnear40 replied to nallygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I was banded Tuesday March 16th. Coming out of surgery I was having a hard time breathing and dealing with the nausea. They gave me three different injections of anti nausea medication and then I felt agitated and clenched my teeth all the way home. It was a 3 1/2 hr drive and it sucked. Just wished I could have fallen asleep. At home I was up all night and to be honest started having anxiety asking myself why I did this to myself?! Yesterday was rough too. Today I had my post op. Teeth still clenching feeling. Maybe it's from the Vicodin because I haven't taken anymore anti nausea medication. Slept a little better last night. Have only had water for three days and all my crushed medications....yuck. Makes me nauseous. The post of doc told me today that this is the way I would be taking medication for the rest of my life. I had no idea. Wow. My doc says on days 5, 6 and 7 I can have sugar free popsicles, sugar free non-carbonated drinks. Really, no pudding or anything until the 8th day? I don't know how I am not going to be weak on just water and clear liquids for 7 days! Oh and i can have soup but it has to be low sodium which tastes awful. Does anyone know why the popsicles have to be sugar free? I found some with 5 g of sugar. May test one tomorrow. And why low sodium? Jeez. -

Instead of the expensive chewable vitamins for post surgery, I was told I only needed two chewable Flintstones vitamins a day. Sounds great to me! I am worried since no one has given me a prescription to fill for pain meds. They told me they would be liquid. We have a 2 to 3 hour drive home and I don't want to be caught waiting for my husband to go to the pharmacy. I better call them tomorrow. -

I am a March bandster too! My surgery date is 03/15. I am starting the pre-op diet tomorrow but I was supposed to start today. I am feeling pretty horrible about it. I just hate the taste of any shake. I do get one meal a day or plain chicken and salad and veggies. No oil or anything. I am not looking forward to tomorrow. But glad I got cleared today after my stress test came back ok. Trying to focus now! -
Surgery scheduled but now have to do a stress test?
momnear40 replied to momnear40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my stress test today and everything was great! Cleared for surgery. Just PVC's like I have always had my whole life! -
It seems these pre op diets range from all liquids to full Atkins. Let me know what yours is. Mine is one to two weeks (depending on your BMI) of two shakes a day (20-30g Protein, less than 5g sugar, and 3 g fat), then a salad with no oils or dressings just lemon or plain plus plain chicken no skin. I wish I could do the Atkins instead but I know some people are on full liquids for two weeks prior. Would love to hear what your pre op prescription is!

Thanks so much for the insight! They are getting me in on a Friday and my surgery is on Tuesday so I hope the results come back soon. I just want to know as soon as possible to be able to focus on what I need to do! I am hoping for a quick answer! -
Adkins Diet Menu Suggestions
momnear40 replied to MOMIOF3CV's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just wondering....does your doctor have you doing Atkins pre surgery instead of liquids two meals per day? Or are you doing the liquid meal replacements too? -
I am confused. I am going through the approval process with my insurance right now to get the procedure done. The only thing that scares me is the fact that everyone on these boards says you have to exercise and eat healthy. If that is the case, why not just diet? Does the LapBand really help or do you end up doing it all on your own anyway? I just want to make sure I am not going to go through surgery for nothing. I would love your input! Thanks so much!
