I have bought a few items. I wear scrubs to work daily and the ones I had prior to surgery are waaaaay to big. I had to buy some new ones and they are starting to get a little big as well. I will be holding off as long as possible. I did buy some new shirts as I tend to lose weight faster on the top. My sister gave me some of her clothes that she wore as she was trying to lose the "baby weight" she gained. I like to reward myself with a new shirt or outfit once a month. Keeps me motivated and gives me something to look forward to. I have noticed since I have lost some weight, I put a little more effort into getting dressed.

Feb 2011 Bandsters: How much have your lost?
ck1redhead replied to Korilynn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello all!! Glad to read you are all doing so well. I have lost a total of 40 pounds since starting the pre-op diet and having surgery. 22 of those pounds came after I had surgery. I hit a bit of a stopping point this past month and lost about 4 pounds. I have increased my cardio and weight training, and have been focusing on no carbs. I have already dropped several clothing sizes and feel much more energized. YIPPEEE!! -

Woohoo!! I signed up. I am excited! -
I thought it was just me! I have been exercising and am still in the mushies phase. I seem to have experienced a lack in weight loss this week. Also, I am also pretty constipated (TMI). Glad to read I am not alone.

Oh my goodness, the potato soup is amazing!! -
Hello all, I got the okay to move on to mushies!! i never thought about putting things through the processor like you are doing Elle. That would definitely help me get in added Protein. I am definitely growing tired of my Protein shakes. What type of shakes are you all drinking and do you like them? Courtney

Hey everyone, I have been on my pre-op diet for a week now. At first I was constipated but now it is quite the opposite. Has anyone experienced something similar while on their pre-op diet? My stomach seems to be very sensitive right now, and it's like my body is going through a cleansing. Thanks, Courtney

I am five days post-op and 5 days into my 2 week liquid diet. I have been drinking protein shakes, eating jello, sugar free pudding, popsicles, broth, and drinking tea. I have not cheated but am having a really intense craving for some mashed potatoes right now.
-
Glad to hear you are doing well, Elle!! I am doing pretty good too. Today is the first day that I actually feel like I am starving. I have not cheated but I sure would give anything to have some mashed potatoes!!

Hey there, I wanted to know if anyone has gotten approved with UHC Choice Plus (PPO). if so, how long did it take? Also, I am missing some of my 5 year weight history, and I know that my BMI was under 35 for some of the years. My current BMI is 44-45 and I have PCOS/Hypothyroidism/insulin resistant. Has anyone been approved on weight/BMI alone, or submitted to insurance without a complete history. My patient advocate said my insurance is wonderful and feels i will have no problems getting approved. I am just getting a little anxious about the entire process as I am hoping I will get approved. Thanks, Courtney

What type of pre-op diet are you on, and how are you doing?
ck1redhead replied to Elle23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Elle23- My diet does rock. I am still trying to eat very little considering I won't be able to eat anything after surgery. I am trying to adapt. Right now I am drinking the Atkins shakes and lite muscle milk shakes. I am allowed to have anything with less than 5 grams of sugar, low-low carbs, and 15+ grams of Protein. The Atkins shakes are delicious. As of today, I have lost 11 pounds....woohoo! Also, I haven't strayed at all! I can't wait until next Wednesday!!! You are doing excellent as well. Great job! -
What type of pre-op diet are you on, and how are you doing?
ck1redhead replied to Elle23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello everyone!! My pre-op diet has not been too bad. I am allowed to have 2-3 shakes, 1-2 decent meals which consist of 4-6 oz of lean meat such as chicken or pork chops. Along with steamed broccoli, cauliflower, salad, green Beans, or anything else that is green. I can have as much green veggies as I want. Also, sugar free Jello and/or pudding. No carbonated beverages, sugar, or carbs other than what is in the veggies. My diet is pretty much Atkin's style. So far I have been doing really, really well. I have not cheated at all. I am on day 6 out of 14. Today I had a shake for breakfast. For lunch I had a grilled, boneless pork chop with steamed cauliflower. I had a shake as a snack and for dinner I just ate some romaine lettuce with a small piece of lean chicken. As of today, I have lost 7 pounds on my pre-op diet. Courtney -
Hey guys! I am getting banded on Wednesday, February the 23rd...wooohooooooo!!!

Why am I fat..... I am fat because I have always put everyone in front of myself. A few years back, I was a personal trainer that loved working out. I was engaged and had two wonderful stepsons. While I enjoyed working out, I did not enjoy feeling the pressure to sale, sale, sale that my boss bestowed on me. Also, I didn't enjoy working seven days a week and over 70 hours. While I knew that this profession wasn't right for me, I also knew that it would put my family in a difficult spot so I decided to stick it out. Eventually, my body quit on me and I started getting extremely sick. Turns out I had an underlying thyroid condition and my schedule and lack of sleep brought it to the forefront. Had I have admitted to myself 6 months prior to leaving that I should have left that job things might have been different. This story is a constant pattern in my life. I start living for me and then the guilt sets in. Not because my family or friends make me feel guilty but because I make myself feel guilty. My now husband and stepsons stood by my side even when I quit my job as a personal trainer. They stood by my side through the weight gain, struggles with my thyroid, and now my current battle with PCOS. I suppose i expected everything to be fixed when I left this stressful job and it was pretty difficult to cope when I quickly found out it wasn't. The reason it wasn't and hasn't been is because I have failed to stand by my own side. My friends, family, and co-workers constantly tell me how happy I always seem and what a positive person I am. On the surface that may seem true but internally I tell myself a different story. I have no self-worth, am extremely critical of myself, and often feel guilty for putting me first. After almost a year of "thinking" about having lap band surgery, I finally decided that it was my time to shine and change my life. My surgery date is February the 23rd and I am excited about finally being "selfish" and doing something for myself. I hope that this is the first step in a journey that will lead me to inner peace and contentment. Courtney

I AM STARVING ON PRE-OP DIET
ck1redhead replied to HungryMel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day three of mine and it is getting easier. I am allowed to have 2-3 protein shakes and a couple of lean pieces of protein like chicken and pork chops. Also, I can eat all the sugar free jello, pudding, and green vegetables I want. The first two days without carbs were the hardest, but I am doing better now!! I am keeping my eye on the prize. Ten more days and then I have my surgery...woohooo!!! -
