If you get food stuck from not chewing enough, or just too much, then drink water. It will not make it go down like you think. You are blocked then add water to that. It will come right up. Been there done that ALOT until I figured it out. Hope that makes sence.

Got My Band 4 Years Ago And I Failed It.
cid replied to brittmarco's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
U have to have a local doctor. Needed for fills and just support. Good luck to you. -
I am sooooo happy to read your story. I have been feeling very depressed because I hit 1.5 years since my surgery. Dr. Rantis did my procedure as well. I lost 90 pounds my first year, and have stayed the same since. I have been a little disappointed because I have not lost, but the good thing is I have not gained and that is amazing for me with my history. I was also told that after you hit 2 years you will not lose any more. That is when I got really scared. It will be 2 years for me this coming February and am a little frightened. I still have about 40 pounds I want to lose. My question to you is??? Did u feel after a certain amount of time, you just were not as strict??? I think that is what has happened to me and I just am not losing. I am soooo scared to lose the motivation. I hear of people that re gain and I WILL NOT let that happen to me. Glad to hear your story. Reading some of these posts have been good for me and I need to stay on this site. Thanks for listening, Cid

WOW, Congrats to you. You should be so proud. I just got banded 2-18 so just starting my journey. U r an inspiration. Thanks you, Cid -
I guess just reading thur these posts I am hearing so much of people get no fill's or just one and are good to go. They are changing there way of thinking about food and changes your way of life around food. I guess my though is you can only go so tight so if I keep losing weight at this size, down the road when I hit a time I am not losing I will then get another fill. I do not know really what will happen. Just reading and learning about all this stuff. I am drinking the Protein drinks now. Tomorrow I will be back on soft food so maybe I will feel a little more "peppy" Cid

Hiding the Lap Band from friends at meals
cid replied to momnear40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am right there with you. My husband knows and most of my family, but none of my friends or co workers know. I am very private about my weight and I feel it is no one's business. I had my surgery Feb. 18th and now people are starting to notice. Also the way I eat. I just had one co worker as me and she just commented, "you are eating so healthy and look at me". My comment back to her was, " I am trying to eat healthy and smaller portions". She just said :good for you". I know I will have a situation of one of those sabotage friends, but again it is about me eating healthy and NO ONE will get me to eat what I do not want to eat. Stay strong, and I do not ever plan on sharing my WLS except with my family. Cid -
I am hoping i may just be able to keep where I am and not fill at each visit. I do not go back for 6 weeks, but I would like to see if this will be where I can stay for a while. I am having a hard time getting into an exercise routine as well. Are you feeling tired at all. I have to say I am feeling very tired the last couple days??
-
I am right there with you. I just got my first fill Wednesday and had no idea what to expect. My doctor did not do the x ray and have me drink that stuff. He said for the first one he was just filling 2cc and my apt. in another 6 weeks he would do the x ray with the barium. I am sure they all do different things. I am on the liquids like you for today yet, then soft tomorrow. I have to can I can feel a BIG difference. Do you feel that as well??? I tried my Protein powder and Water and blended with a banana, and I could not get it down well. I then switched to Enchure Protein Drink and that works. Cid

Good for you girl. It is tough, but soooo worth it. I had my surgery on Feb.18th and just had my first fill yesterday. Keep that liquid going. It makes such a difference on your liver prior to surgery. You will do great. Cid

Early weeks weight loss
cid replied to Pammy S Lewis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on liquids for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Then had my surgery and the liquids again for 2 weeks. I ended up losing 23 pounds and was amazed. Although then I did not lose anything for about the next 2 weeks. It makes sense because with just liquids you will lose. Then even going to soft food, you body needs a chance to catch up with the initial weigh loss. Then after my 2 weeks of not losing, I began losing again. Just went for my first fill yesterday, and starting liquid all over again for a few days. So that is my story. Hope it helps. Good luck to you, Cid -
I was banded on 2-18 and am going back to work tomorrow. I am not taking a full 2 weeks, but I feel ready to go back. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to take with me for lunch. While on the liquid diet it ws easy to carry with me in a cooler while traveling. I do car traveling not airplane. So with that said, anyone else out there with some creative idea's. Thanks much

New Here and in process of getting the band
cid replied to webhippy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Web, It is a scary thing making the decision to get banded. I went thur the entire process of looking into it as well. Talking to people. Internet info, and the fear of another failed attempt to lose weight. I do not have alot of experience to share with you since I was just banded 2-18 so going into my second week of healing. I got pretty scared even reading some of these posts. What I will tell you is go with your gut. I am very happy I have done this. I feel good about it and I KNOW I will be successful. It is a entire different lifestyle, but that is what we need to do. Sorry you do not feel you can go to your mother. I thought about not telling my mother just for the fear she would "freak out". But i did and she actually was great about it. You have the support of you husband and 2 kids and that is all you need. My husband has been an amazing support and I can not thank him enough. So with that said, contact me if you would like and I can give you more info as I continue my journey. I have learned alot from the post I have read on here, but a word to the wise, watch which ones you read. You know the positve support one right at the start. Good luck to you. Cid -
What a Difference a Year Makes
cid replied to sld21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OOPPSS, One more thing. Can you tell me when you started exercising after the surgery and what kind did you do?? Have you always been a runner or did you start running after getting some of the weight off. Thanks, Cid -
What a Difference a Year Makes
cid replied to sld21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Big congrats to you. Love hearing your success story. I was just banded 2-18 and have gotten a little scared reading some of these posts. So "THANK YOU" much for your story, because in a year from now I want to be where you are and I WILL BE. Thanks again, Cid -
I had that problem and called the doctor. They told me to take Milk of Magnesia (I am sure I spelled that wrong) but it did work
-
Hi, You got your band just 2 days before I did. If you would like we can write back and forth and share some info. Cid

I had my banding 9 days ago and so far so good. Couple questions I do have are: Do any of you experience that it is hard to lay on your side?? I have been sleeping on my back since the surgery. I am also going back to work tomorrow, how long do they say not to carry anything over 10 pounds and be careful bending down. Thanks Cid

Dr. Paul Guske - If you have a choice, choose Guske
cid replied to Nick85's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I just had my surgery a week ago Friday 2-18 and i also went to the Kane center. I had Dr. Rentas and I like him alot as well. Very informative and easy to talk to. My surgery went very well and going thru my healing time. I do have a question for you if you do not mind. It has been a 9 days for me after surgery and I am going back to work tomorrow. I still have a hard time with laying down on my side. I sleep in the fetal position and I have had to sleep on my back all week. Have you noticed that??? Cid -
Thank you for sharing your story.
I am still going thru the process and will be getting a surgery date soon. Your success is inspiring. Thank you, Cid
