Christie........ Hey i first saw my surgeon on 7/2/07 and i was banded on 9/3/07. If your going private you will get done fairly quickly but the public waiting list is quite long. Can i ask where you live and hopefully there are others that live in your area on this site that can give accurate advise.

Hi All... Hope none of you were court up in the Melbourne Tunnel tragedy today... Anyway i went for my 2 week post-op visit and im the proud owner of a 6ml band, now with a 2ml fill. I will have another fill of 1ml on 4th May. The fill didnt hurt but i did feel nauseated immediately after. He made me drink a glass of water and it went down fine. He was very pleased with 5kg weight loss in 2 weeks....

Hello... Im 2 weeks banded tomorrow ( still on liquid phase) and up until yesterday i was only able to tolerate small amounts of fluid but as i found out when i had a juice from the juice bar yesterday... i could drink it all. My guess is all the swelling has gone down inside and out and there is now no restriction. My advise to myself and you.... think of why we were banded and the results we will achieve. Im starting on the 'mushies' tomorrow . Goodluck Rightsize and put that chocolate away and go for a walk!!! Easy for me to say... you may well be giving me advise on this subject when im at your stage.

Hi Everyone.... Been a bit stressed... i have 2 jobs one being as a nurse at a hospital part-time and the other as a Nurse casual with a pharmaceutical company doing health assessments. To make a long story short... i got a phone call yesterday at 2pm from my boss at my second job and he said my employment was terminated. He said some crap about needing higher qualifications then i have. mmmmm.... ive been employed with them for 3 years and no problems and even won an award for outstanding performance in 2006. You may recall i went for another position a couple of months back that was higher up with the company but i 'didnt fit the profile' mmmmm... why didnt they say cause i was fat... Now i believe that they got rid of me 1/ because i spoke up in a big way when i didnt get the other job 2/ because i took time off for op/recovery etc.................... I have sort lots of legal advise and not much i can do. Anyway.... Bel, i went private throught Dr Nottle. Everyone, I heard Dr Nottle sometimes does a fill at 2 weeks, im seeing him this friday. I went back to playing tennis today and im now exhausted. Still on liquids. Im finding i have no restiction now, i guess swelling has gone down. I actually had a full small fat blast juice drink from one of those juice bars today. 4 days ago i couldnt get through 1/2 of it. Thanks for listening to my wingeing, guess you havernt got a choice!!!!

hi everyone... well today is day 11 on liquids. Going quite well. I have to actually force myself to have fluid as i dont feel like anything. Im still a bit sore. If i take a big breath in, i get pain in the middle of my chest and in the left of my upper back... Did/has anyone had this?? I still have to sleep basically sitting up in bed with 3-4 pillows behind me. If i lie down it feels like everything is pulling. Ive commenced excersise... walked the past 3 days and going back to tennis tomorrow. Hey!! maybe in the near future i wont waddle around the court. For vitamins ive been taking... Supradyn.... gives me heaps of energy....

I would have had something at the BBQ if there was anything to have... I hate this liquid diet crap!!! Day 9 and counting...... I WANT FOOD :faint:

Kaye... well done... any weight loss is great :clap2: :clap2:

Hey Susannah... just noted the updated ticker :clap2: :clap2: well done. 8kg down already is great. Does that include the weight loss on Optifast?? Well... i went to a 30th birthday/BBQ last night and i hated every single minute of it... All my favorite foods and all i could do was watch and the desserts were amazing. It was so hard sitting sipping on my water and i felt absolutely miserable not to mention out of place. I shouldnt have gone................ but it did prove i am determined and strong.

Kebsa... hope your feeling better soon and the symptoms subside. I also have had episodes of difficulty swollowing in the past due to the MS. Thats why im not sure if this weird feeling in my throat is due to the band or the MS. Frustrating sometimes!!! Thanks for the feedback Karenb.

Hello Everyone... not a great day for me today. Ive had this dull ache in the middle of my chest and at the port site all day..... Although this ache is bearable, i want it to go away. Also... everytime i have fluids i burp, will it always be like this?? Im seeing the surgeon next friday for my initial post-op visit and query my first fill. Im interested to see how he finds exactly where the port is.... my abdo is still swollen and i can feel much. Does a fill hurt? :help: mmmmmmmm... constipation.... well i dont feel uncomfortable as i havernt eaten for over a week but i also havernt done number 2 for that long.... what do you all recommend?
-
Fingers Crossed that you'll be banded really soon. The lung function tests arnt too bad so dont stress about them. Just remember.... if your a smoker... dont smoke for at least 4 hours prior ( id suggest longer). Its not a must but it is recommended by most professionals.

What would i do without all of you experienced ones... I let out an uncontrollable burp everytime i have fluids.. keeps my daughter amuzed . Lucky its not coming from both direction!!!!
-
Thankyou for that ............... i feel much better that others have had similar experiences and can help me.

:help: :help: :help: As you all know i was banded last friday.... Im on fluids and when i have runny custard soon after i feel like ive got it stuck in my throat. It disappears after sipping water for a while... ? the custard isnt runny enough??!! Now.... when i was banded , no fill would have been put in would it?? My surgeon is unavailable and although im not having a real problem... it doesnt feel right but then again i have no idea what all this is suppose to feel like. Im up and about as normal during the day now. Night is a problem as i still need to lie on my back and woke up last night with an ache in the middle of my chest and it felt like there was an alien in there.... i assume this is where the band is and could the feeling be the tubing moving around. Most of my swelling is subsiding and im finding this all weird.. Hope i dont sound too dumb but i thought id ask....

Well thats not good news at all Angel.... Think positive..... im sure you and the baby will be just fine...

Well on friday 9/3/07 at 1pm i went into theatre at Western private Hospital and was banded by Dr Peter Nottle. Im led to believe all went straight forward. Pain in my left shoulder has been an issue with a hot water bottle becoming my best friend. Liquid panadol was not at all adequate pain relif so ive opted for panadeine cut into very small pieces. Having trouble sleeping due to pain plus having to sleep on my back... Today is day 4 post op and feeling better everyday....... Quite bloated in the abdo and the bruising isnt a great look... Liquid diet isnt a problem at all...

Hi.... i hope your right as tomorrow is day 5 and although all has improved i still feel lousy. Im having trouble with fluids... i dont feel like anything and have to force myself to even have a few sips. My upper abdo is quite distended and it looks like ive got a balloon under my top ( bigger one than usual anyway!!!)..... i got on the scales and have dropped 2.5 kg in 4 days.... is that normal??? hey... im not complaining but i dont want to lose too much too quick and risk a slippage or complications. Apparently my surgeon will most likely do a fill on 23/3 (2 weeks post op). Will he do one even though im losing weight anyway? Am i correct to assume there is no fluid in the band currently, if thats the case why do i feel full even though my intake is so low??... i didnt ask when i was banded.

I had such a good day yesterday with minimal pain. Went to bed at 9pm and even managed to lie on my side. Then............ woke up at midnight and the pain was really bad. so.... here i sit at 5am an unhappy banster again. I hate pain!!!!
-
mmmmmmmmmmmm.... Ive got a question... My post op instructions say to have either panadol or pandeine 4-6hrly as required. It doesnt mention liquid or soluable form. Can i get panadeine in anything other than tablet form. Im confused.... others on another site have used tablets cut in pieces with no problems. Please advise as i want to do the correct things...

Okay ive got it.... no nurofen........thats a real pity as i took the nurofen at 4am and now its 12.30 and i havernt required any pain killers and im only beginning to get a bit sore now. I think it really worked but will take your advise and not have it.

Morning all.... well i actually had some sleep and at the moment feel okay except for a dull ache in my shoulder. I ended up having 2 neurofen cut into very small pieces. No other pain relief i had was worked. Now in regards to slippage..... um... can this happen from me just moving around too much??? Everytime i get up i feel what the port area get slightly pulled, doesnt feel good. Is that normal?? I really hope i never have to go through this again... I swear going through 26hrs of intense childbirth wasnt as bad as this. Anyway... im happy ive joined you all...
