  1. Hi Everyone, I was banded on Jan 12th, had no pre-op diet. I had lost a total of 13#, and then last week gained 1.6 back! I've had one fill, on Feb 28th. I get stuck almost every meal after the first few bites, and I'm not sure if its because I'm eating too fast or not chewing enough, or both. The pain is excruciating while I'm stuck and sometimes I have to bring a little of it back up in order to cope with it. After the episode passes though, I can continue to eat without a problem. I can't say that I ever feel stuffed, like I've eaten too much. I just quit eating because I know I don't need anymore food and I'm satisfied. I have tried to keep my calories at 1000 to 1100/day and get in at least 60gm of protein every day. I'm only 5' 1" and my BMI was 32 when I started this. No one has noticed or at least commented on my little wt. loss, so it's no obvious to others. I am horribly discouraged that after 10 weeks I've had no more success than this. I'm open for any suggestions. Since I'm getting stuck, I don't think another fill is the answer, but I'm not sure.

    Scale not moving

I SO KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!! I have been banded for 6 weeks and I've only lost 9 pounds. And that's the same 9 pounds I had lost 4 weeks ago!! I feel like I've thrown my money away on this surgery. I've cut my calories by at least 1/2 from before I was banded, and I make sure I'm getting at least 60 grams of protein every day. I get my first fill on Monday, but I honestly don't see how that's going to help me. If my problem is I'm not taking in ENOUGH calories, then a fill is just going to keep me from eating as much as I am now! I AM AT MY WITS END !! HELP!!
  3. How can the inches drop but not the pounds? I was banded 5 weeks ago and have cut down on my calories, increased my protein to at least 60 grams/day, trying to get in plenty of fluids, but will admit that I probably fall short on getting in all of my water. I haven't started to exercise yet, BUT... I haven't dropped any weight in the last 2 weeks, and I had only lost 9 lbs up to that point. I have measured and there have been some decreases in inches, but I don't understand if I'm not losing pounds/ounces, then how can I be shrinking inches? The disappointment I feel with such a huge decrease in calories and no weight loss is tremendous!! Any thoughts?
  4. I have a question about the weight loss slow down. I was banded 5 weeks ago and I haven't dropped a pound in the last 3 weeks. I count my calories, always make sure that I get at least 60 gms of protein. I can not understand how I can not be losing pounds when I made such drastic changes. So maybe I have two questions. How can you drop inches if you're not dropping pounds. No, I haven't started working out, so I don't think I'm gaining muscle. I would very much appreciate any input from anyone.
  5. Hi Shelly, I was just banded 2 weeks ago, had a BMI of 32 and need to lose about 50 pounds. You stated that the weight came off more slowly than you had thought. After 2 weeks I've only lost 6 pounds and I'm really concerned. My calorie intake is so much lower than what I had before the band, I thought that I would have lost more by now. What can I expect as the weeks go along. I'm on mushy foods and try to make sure that I'm getting 50-60 grams of protein a day. Any info you might have would be so welcomed. Diane

    From: I'm here to help...

I could use some support and encouragement. Just banded on the 12th of Jan., two weeks ago today. I lost 6 lbs in the first week and haven't lost anything since then. My calorie intake is so far below what it was pre-surgery, that I can't believe I haven't lost any more than that. I need to lose about 55 lbs. so I don't expect to lose it as rapidly as someone that needs to lose 100. What seems to be the typical rate of loss in the first few weeks after surgery? Thanks so much for your help! Diane
