Teenge Cousin is talking surgery
Dream on child posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone. So I've been thinking very seriously about lapband surgery, which is one of the reasons I joined this group--to get information and inspiration. Well, yesterday I was talking about it to my cousin who is seventeen and weighs even more than I do. She knew everything and more about lapband surgery, which shocked me. She told me she read a new novel (young adult) called Teenage Waistland. She calimed she read it twice, and wanted to lend it to me. So, I just started it last night and it's really engaging. It's about a group of teens who are in a trial study to get lapband surgery. My cousin can't get surgery until she's eighteen, but this book has given her hope. I'm hoping by reading this, I can even become more familiar and comfortable with the process (even though my teen years are long gone). I'll let you all know how it is! -
Want Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift....
Dream on child replied to Nettie's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I was thinking about getting my tummy tucked too, but I just got a membership to a gym that has a pool. I'm going to swim laps because I've heard a great deal about people's skin firming up by swimming. If this doesn't work, I'm definitely going to find a surgeon! -
I would like to expand on that question and ask if six months felt like too long a time, too short a time, or a perfect amount of time to prepare for the surgery. It sounds like a long time to me, but I'm curious to know what those of you who have gone through it think.

At a Crossroad and freaking out!
Dream on child replied to kourtany93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think what's important to keep in mind is that the lap band isn't a cure, it's a vehicle toward weight-loss recovery. With that in mind, we are still have to be responsible enough to get in gear and do the driving. I think that as long as we focus on the big picture and the whole process, there is nothing to fear. We have complete control over whether our surgeries will be a success -

Libido?!
Dream on child replied to Hopes of a Dream!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree with all these comments about loss of libido. I think it's a pretty stark sign that our bodies just aren't working the way they are meant to with the excess weight. I know that when I take off the weight, my hormones will eventually balance out and this time in my life will just be a faint memory. It's a big wake-up call not to want sex. Thanks for bringing up this important topic. -
I haven't had my surgery yet and am now fearful of the short-term side-effects from the anesthesia. I guess it's good to know to ask for anti-nausia medication before the surgery. This is why I joined to forum...to get tips like this. I'm glad I did and thanks for all your shares.
