  1. I agree not the best choice and remember those are the same choices that got us here. I won't say I have never had ice cream since my band but not early and definately not often. If you must indulge be smart about it and DO NOT bring home a big container. Get a small amount (single use) and have your moment and move on.
  2. I have never made it with ice cream because its just added calories and I would prefer to just eat the ice cream rather then put it in a shake. If I were to use Ice cream i would probably use low carb ice cream. As far as soft frozen yogurt in my opinion McDonalds has the best (sounds weird) and its portion controlled and nothing left over so you won't run to the fridge for seconds. It has low cal and low fat and it is really good. So get you a vanilla cone and dish the yogurt in your blender with your shake or just eat the ice cream cone...LOL

They Want To Remove My Band. I Say Nooooo!

Thats awesome. So what did they say the problem was? Just had the tummy irritated and caused the band to tighten? Sounds like it wasn't a slip so thats great news. It is ridiculous that it took a hospital admission to get your band unfilled. Definately eat if you can. Let your tummy settle down and get fills in small incriments so this doesn't happen again. i have tried to wait out a tight band before and it only got worse so sometimes all you can do is get some fluid out and let your body heal.

    Anything new from newhope4me today?
  7. That reminds me... you can blend just about anything to a liquid. I rememer blending some spaghetti o's. Too bad it tasted just like tomato Soup and I hate tomato soup...lol..... My doctor had no restriction other then liquid so yogurt, blended cottage cheese, soups, etc.

    Flying With The Band

Going through security is never a problem and I fly a lot. I get reflux when my band gets to tight so I try to keep it from getting to that point.

    Flying With The Band

YES...... I have to fly to all my band appointments and for work. The band does get tight and for me I have had a few times where it wouldn't losen for a few days. I always go back to warm liquids until it losens and eat/drink things that act as diuretics to help get fluid off me and that seems to help the band losen.

    Swallowing Pills

I take all pills and the only thing I have ever had trouble with is antibiotics in capsules because the capsule seems to melt away before it actually goes down and I am left with a nasty bitter bitter taste. I just went to doctor last night and got Lortab, antibiotic, steroids, and tessalon pearls and I have swallowed them all whole. They are all different sizes but the Lortab is bigger then Tylenol and i have no problem.
  11. I buy Jay Robb whey protein mix and they have several flavors and are really good. I like to mix mine with milk so thats extra protein. They have 220 calories/50protein/2carbs when made with 2 scoops and water. The fruity flavored ones are great for the summer because they are more like a Crystal light drink and have a big varity of flavors and are distributed by the weight loss zone (I am sure you can google them because I lot of different places sell them). They have 140 calories/2carbs/30protein for 2 packs mixed with 16ounces of water. The Jay Robb was recommended by my band surgeon Dr.Smith and I buy it from Sunflower Shoppes when go to Dallas or you can find places to order it online. The Weight Loss Zone drinks were recommended by my band doctor that I see locally (for fills and unfills) and they are delicious!! They have coffee ones, hot chocolate ones, grape,cran-grape,peach mango, pineapple, pineapple orange, strawberry kiwi, wild berry, orangeade, lemonade, lemon razzy, and grapefruit. I mix them in the 16.8 ounce water bottles and throw them in my work bag or gym bag for the day. If I am extra hungry one day (like around my cycle) then I drink an extra drink. You are going to be drinking protein for the rest of your life so find some that you really like not just tolerate. My husband has decided to lose weight (BIG step for him) and is using protein shakes and he LOVES the ones from weight loss zone. He bought Herbalife and tolerated it but it got old quick and I had him try mine. If you need any more info or pictures just let me know but if you like fruit flavored drinks or chrystal light then you will like these. If you are in the mood for something thicker then Jay Robb is good.
  12. I survived with sugar free popsicles and bahama Bucks thin ice sno cones. Gave me some variety and counted as my water. Try different proteins also because I have some that taste like lemonade, razzberry, and grape or some that taste like Pina Colada or Orange Dreamsicle. It helps to have that variety.

They Want To Remove My Band. I Say Nooooo!

People are usually rude when it comes to weight loss surgery. They have their minds made up about it without educating themselves and unfortunatley a case like your is an "I told you so moment". Don't worry about them becuase they aren't important. Hopefully they will get you to a good band doctor that can help.

    Freaking Out...!!!-__-

honey this is anything but easy!!! This is just a tool but you still have to put the hard work in. I chose not to tell anyone but my bestfriend who had lapband before me and my husband. It is hard to keep the secret because people always want to know why I'm not eating much. I didn't want the judgement or to fail and be judged even more. I have lost 50 pounds in a year but I was a low BMI bandster so I am very pleased with my weight loss so far.

    Jello

I could have unlimited amounts but I turned to sugar free popsicles more because I am not a big Jell-O fan. I ate boxes of sugar free popsicles though.

    Freaking Out...!!!-__-

I had mine on a Wednesday and drove home (6 hours) Thursday then work on Monday. I wasn't even groggy after surgery. My husband said it was about 30 minutes in surgery and 45 minutes after I woke up until they discharged me. I walked every hour all over that hotel. It was not bad at all. I was nervous to and wanted to back out but you will regret backing out.

    Tight Feeling In Throat...

With the band anxiety or stress definately makes it worse for me.

    Tight Feeling In Throat...

Yes... I go through this when I get sick or before my menstrual cycle. I always go back to liquids (warm ones for me) and give it a week to see if it will go down. Use Mucinex for the thick sinus drainage and my band doctor says take a benadryl for that thick flym every night and last time it was severe congestion so he said use pseudaphed. I have had a few times that it wouldn't resolve and I had to get some fluid removed from the band. My doctor everything gets irritated and swells and the band gets tight. I always get reflux when my band gets tight and a night cough with the tightness in my chest/throat. It is very miserable!!! Stay hydrated.

    Poop

Internal bleeding usually looks like coffee grounds so I would bet it is a hemmorhoid, a rash, or a little skin tear from wiping. Constipation is a problem for most at some point. I use Miralax and it is very easy on your tummy.

    Should Eating Hurt?

I have had that happen before and I was to tight. Sometimes you can go to liquids for a few days and see if your stomache is irritated and making the band tighter. If you are to tight then you will probably start to experience a cough at night or reflux soon.

Pain On My Left Side Chest

I can not eat hamburger meat at all since being banded a year ago. I can't even have it in chilli or stew where it is very juicy. It gets stuck and is extremely painful and seems to sit in my pouch an make me sick a few days later. Remember that everything is irritated and swollen right now and that is why they want you to eat liquids or mushies. The pain is probably from being irritated. Good luck with your band.

    Help Lol

IDK what someone born in the 50's would need but this is the rule she told us to follow.

    Help Lol

I know but I swear thats what she told us. IDK if that only works for a certain age group but she said that would be the absolute minimum and my best friend had a band and got the same advice. It has worked for me. Still have my hair and nails and lost over 50 pounds in a year.

    Help Lol

oh and your protein should be at least as much as the last two numbers of your birth year. I was born in 75 so i should get at least 75grams of protein a day... thats the dietician rule
