Am I Being Sensitive
shuckybucky replied to lappyloo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember being a little jealous of all the people at the fair this year because they were eating corn dogs and cheese on a stick but then I felt a little proud because I could walk away from that food and most of those people couldn't. Once you get restriction it really won't bother you so much because you will know you can't eat most of that food. I haven't had a hamburger in a year and a half and sometimes I look at my kids eating one and think YUMMY but the reality is I can't get bread or hamburger meat down. -
Found A Way To Eat Around The Band
shuckybucky replied to Spacegirl37's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Seriously!!! EVERYONE eats foods that aren't the best nutritious choice. No one stays away from all junk food and if it were that easy then we wouldn't be in the position of having a lapband. Maybe your doctor is different then mine but mine actually says eat what we want but no more then 1/2 cup. We have no foods that are off limits but we all know eating a salad would be a better choice then some chips. I chose to live realistically and know that I am going to eat some foods that aren't the most nutritious but I am not going to gorge on them or let it get to me. I will admit that I eat chips/salsa when i go out to eat with friends, I have had an ice cream cone when I take my kids out, and I had a cookie the other night at my sons awards program (he is special needs and they made the cookies for their parents) but the difference is I have ONE and I don't dwell on it. I account for the calories and it doesn't become a habit. -
Found A Way To Eat Around The Band
shuckybucky replied to Spacegirl37's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Chips seems to be an item most banded people can eat. I can eat them but usually only about 5 or 6. I don't buy big bags of chips because I know I can eat them. If I buy some I will buy small bags or a pringles can. -
I went and got 1cc removed today. I don't normally get such a large amount out but I can't deal with being that tight and taking all those meds. I spent last night in my recliner because of reflux and cough. Unfortunately the migraines are a side effect of the hormones my doc put me on. We have stopped them now but IDK how long the effects will last. I will just have to monitor myself closely because I may be able to eat anything once all the meds and side effects have wore off.

Am I Being Sensitive
shuckybucky replied to lappyloo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I realized early that I chose to make this change not my husband or family. I can't ask him to drink shakes just like he can't ask me to eat chicken fried steak. You have to learn to deal with it. Unfortunately this will happen a lot on your journey. -
Fills aren't mandatory and if you are one of the lucky ones that can lose without fills then do a happy dance . When I was banded it was a few months before my first fill and then my Dr scheduled them every 6 weeks but I didn't require them so canceled the appointments. Just go with the flow. You may be just fine without a fill for a long time.

Post-Op: What You Wish You Knew Prior To Getting The Lap Band
shuckybucky replied to klawson617's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't give up on it. It takes some people MONTHS to find their sweet spot. You probably aren't vomiting/burping because you don't have the restriction you need yet. Be thankful because actual vomiting (like when sick) is very very painful with the band. -
Coughing Since May 4 Band
shuckybucky replied to Tawni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been told that sometimes you get the same symptoms if a band needs some Fluid as you would get for a band thats too tight. -
One Year Post Op, No Results. Please Help
shuckybucky replied to LyMarie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually I wasn't pointing fingers. Just stating facts. If you have been trying for four years and can't figure it out then I would say ignorance is something you have a handle on..... not me. If you are doing what you are supposed to and doing everything perfect then you wouldn't have a problem. You can lie to yourself and stay on the track you are on or get real. Either way don't blame me for stating the obvious. -
Post-Op: What You Wish You Knew Prior To Getting The Lap Band
shuckybucky replied to klawson617's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That the band is very touchy and restriction changes with weather, illness, menstrual cycle, etc. I have got more fills and unfills in this year then I ever dreamed I would. -
Coughing Since May 4 Band
shuckybucky replied to Tawni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cough is a sign of being to tight. You need to remove some more fluid. Even though you had some removed you probably already had everything irritated and inflammed so you have to remove more fluid so your stomache can relax. Then get a small fill in a few weeks. I have had that cough and it is miserable and ifyou let it go then reflux starts also. -
Can you add milk, yogurt, and cottage cheese? These are proteins and will help fill you.

One Year Post Op, No Results. Please Help
shuckybucky replied to LyMarie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you haven't lost then it is because of your choices. The reality of weight loss is calorie in and calorie out equals weight loss but if you choose bad foods and large portions then the scale won't move. Dig deep inside of you and make some changes. -
Please Help, One Year Post Op, No Results
shuckybucky replied to LyMarie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You have all the answers to your weight loss problem in your post. You are making bad food choices, eating more then allowed with the band, and purging. This is why you aren't losing weight but I would think that you need to answer deeper more intimate questions. Why are you doing these things? Why are you sabataging yourself? I don't have any answers for you but if you don't make some changes then you will hurt yourself abusing your band this way. I would suggest you go back to liquids because your pouch is probably stretched and start over with the band. Wish I had a simple answer but there isn't a simple answer. -

I don't know about EAS but I usually can't get thick shakes down. I buy some fruity ones from a place here called the weight loss zone. I know they are just a selling point but I am not sure who distributes these. You could probably order them online but they are more like Crystal Light and have a BIG variety. -
I Think I'm In Bandster Hell :/
shuckybucky replied to sunshine_x's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remember we didn't get the surgery because we made good choices and that won't be fixed over night. If you go in and you have gained just be mature and say I know what I did and I have to get back on track. This is what they do for a living. They won't get mad at you. Don't put so much pressure on yourself or you will fall even further the wrong direction. We all struggle..... hang in there. -
Full Liquid Diet Day 1
shuckybucky replied to Tricia39's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
We all were. Just remember the benefits of why you are doing this. The surgery itself is not bad and lasts about 30 minutes. You can do ANYTHING for 30 minutes!!! You will be okay and start a new journey in your life full of freedom. Hang in there. -
6 Days Post Op..very Bloated...
shuckybucky replied to singingmom2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very bloated myself. I looked pregnant and was embarrassed to go back to work because no one knew I had surgery. When my doctor released me to excercise (more then walking short times) that made all the difference. I walked Forrest Gump style, used gas X strips, and fluids. My tummy went down fast. As far as the loose BM's i can tell you what I was told when i had that problem. if all you take in is liquid then all that comes out is liquid....LOL.... That gets better as you go through the food stages. -
Have You Ever Heard Of A Doctor Having Trouble Finding The Port?
shuckybucky replied to shelbymooy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes my fill doctor does not use flouroscopy and has a heck of a time. He has hit the side of the rubber stopper and into the plastic and it hurts. My surgeon does it under fluoro and hits it just right of course. There is a new band wagon coming through my city with xray so I am going to switch over to them to be safe. I'm not trying to be gross but the way my port is placed bowels also seem to make a difference.
