I don`t know if you can or cant stretch out your stomach but i bet most peoplegain liquid calories denial. my friend had a lap band 2 weeks before i did and she is 30 pounds heavier now. she always says she doesn't know how because she can't eat anything. she doesn't think her 44 ounce cokes and jumbo sonic blast everyday is the problem. her pouch isnt stretched either. i think some people go to liquid calories and fool themselves about it. it's not a miracle - we still have to put in the hard work and be accountable.

They could never get that band adjusted correctly. There is no telling how long it had been prolapsed either. It resulted in 2 units of blood and 3 liters of Fluid with a LOT of potassium added because my stomach had been bleeding internally and my fluid and electrolytes were so messed up and then there was emergency surgery. Look for Planters Nut-rition (there is banana, berry, and cinnamon).

That is a very good point about emotional eating.

Oh sweet heavens!!! I got some planters Peanut Butter a while back to market and there was a peanut butter, banana, nut one. I could only try a tiny lick but it was so good. If you ever liked peanut butter banana sandwiches (I know not everyone thinks that is appealing) then this PB is for you. They had other flavors also and it has more Protein. Might try that in the protein balls when I am ready. Tonight I am struggling with mashed potatoes so it might be a while. I'm not really crazy but my band had been prolapsed for so long I was on the popsicle diet for at least 6 months. Been at least a year since I had anything with more consitency then refried Beans. I'm ready to taste food again

Can sleevers get peanut butter down okay? I am a new revision from a band and peanut butter was not tolerated.

I had my surgery January 25, 2013 and I feel that way. I thought it was just me since it wasn't planned and I have not been able to work. Our bodies have gone through something major so I guess a little depression is normal and pain medicine can bring on the blues too.

What Causes A Leak? How Can We Prevent?
shuckybucky replied to WLJourneyJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you ended up with a leak then it would be emergency services and your insurance would cover it. Once you have a leak then you have to keep stomach contents from getting into the peritoneal cavity because that cavity is basically sterile and stomache contentsgetting into it causes major infection and could ven cause death if not treated. So if you had a leak then you would be past the weight loss surgery and on to emergency services. -
Hang in there. I quit smoking 8 years ago on the billionth try. It is one of the hardest things ever ( I used chantix). Have you tried sunflower seeds to help with the needing to do something with your hands feeling? This is a hard night for me to. I'm still on liquids (post op) and my husband decided to fix ribs and all the trimmings. SERIOUSLY want to give him a ball thump right now! I swear this is the first time he has cooked in 6 months.

husband is making ribs, potato salad, stuffed peppers, and veggies... All I can have is soup

Technically there is no nutritional value in tea either but we don't ingest everything for nutritional value alone. Sometimes we want something that satisfies us... good or bad. Be careful with carbonation.

Constipation HELL....P!
shuckybucky replied to c3mcmahon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Something else to look forward to!! Since my sleeve was done in an emergency I didn't have any nutritional advice and my appointment with the nutritionist isn't until Wednesday so I guess I will have a lot of questions answered then. Did anyone get a know under one of their incisions? I have one and hope it is just scar tissue or something. I don't need any more problems! -
Constipation HELL....P!
shuckybucky replied to c3mcmahon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This makes me wonder if I have a problem. Since about day 5 post op everytime something hits my lips it comes out (water) immediately. The first 5 days after surgery I felt constipated but I was in the hospital for 5 days and they gave me a stool softener twice. I assumed my bowels just werent back from anesthesia yet but now I can't stop. It very fast also. I hope that is normal because the constipation issue seems to be normal for all of you and I'm going the other direction. -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
shuckybucky replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was a little different because I started out with a lap band and I was considered a low BMI bandster. I actually exercised faithfully (1 -2 hours) everyday and even did a mini triathlon and some other events at our local gym. I had to work so hard to keep my weight managed but I was still overweight and couldn't seem to find that magical formula of calories and excercise to loose and maintain the weight. I finally decided that I couldn't continue to keep this up just to be overweight so i started looking at alternatives and the lap band seemed apprpriate for someone that doesn't have a lot of weight to lose and might be able to maintain a good weight. I did not meet the insurance criteria so I finally decided that I was going to just pay for it and relieve my joints and my body of the physical stress I was putting them through. I got the lap band and lost 75 pounds over almost 2 years of having it but recently had issues and converted to a sleeve a week ago. Even though I have had recent problems I must say I have felt AMAZING with that amount of weight off of me. -
I do think it was pretty hateful to take the link to my post and put it in another thread with the title I call BS. That was done to be sneaky and so that I would not even have a chance to defend myself. Very school yard bully. Anyway I accept your apology and good luck to you.

I discussed options with the surgeon but i was upfront with him and told him I would never have 15,000.00 to pay for the sleeve especially after being private pay for the band. Maybe that helped him make his decission but I am thankful that I do not have to have a second surgery or figure out what to do now. It was a very hard surgery. They basically worked from my chest down to my stomach (removing the band, getting my spleen under control, fixing a hiatal hernia, and doing the sleeve) so I was miserable afterwards. Then I had other complications and needed blood transfusion, kidneys shut down, my neck and face filled with gas (you can still feel the crackling in my skin), and to top it off one of my IV's infiltrated and now it is sclerosed and may need to be stripped later. I will not lie. It sucked!! I was very emotional the first day and thought what have I done to myself but that too passed. I spent 5 nights in the hospital but today I am up and going. I am going to my sons school for a meeting and have not had one nap today so I'm on the uphill side. The surgeon was honest with me and said he would prefer to do the sleeve when he removed the band because he has more leway with the insurance company and can get more services covered so that I may only be left with $4-5,000.00. Thank God for compassionate doctors because he could have removed the band and nothing else or sent me back to my original surgeon.

yes I had but i no longer have a lap band so that site would not apply to me. I lost a lot when I went into surgery but maybe I will gain new friends and support.
