    Protein Supplements

I found the best protein drinks at a place called weight loss zone here in Amarilo. They had about 20 flavors and most mix with water not milk. Most flavors only have 1-2grams carbs. Grape, Lemonfrazz, and cinamon hot chocolate are my favorites.

    Protein Supplements

I had that experience but I figured out it isn't necessarily the protein. It is because if most of your diet is liquid then your waste will be liquid. I would be careful with immodium because once u get to eating and it is high protein then you will probably have constipation.

    dumb

If you could lose it without the band then why did you get banded? I personally had been working out at least 5 days a week for several hours a day and killing myself trying to diet. I would lose a few pounds but gain twice as much back. Since the band I have lost 20 pounds and I have not had to be at the gym several hours a week. I can go like a normal person and do a normal workout. It is a change that you have to adapt to but trust me it is working. I am confident that I will continue to lose weight so the band is definately worth it....... Nothing tastes as good as skinny is going to feel!!!!

    SLIPPED POUCH??? OH NO!!!

What pouch? You can eat ice cream....if you want. Cold foods tend to make the band tighter.

    Lap Band Statistics

banded 4 months and lost 23 pounds. Paid 100% of cost (insurance wouldn't cover) and don't regret it. Still trying to get it all figured out.
  6. My guess is everyone cheats. If we had that much will power we wouldn't be having this surgery. I cheated but I am a nurse and knew what would metabolize fast. I ate Salmon because I was starving and exhausted. The preop is to shrink the liver and carrots aren't going to make a difference on your liver. My advice would be to keep your cheating secret from now on .....

    I want my first fill!!

remember men do tend to lose weight faster then women so try not to compare to him.
  8. I have the same problems. The burping is the band but IDK why it does that. My stomache growls most when my band is really restricted and I am consuming mostly liquids. My best friend has experienced the tight chest and everytime she has gone through that it was because her band was too tight or she was still eating too fast.

    I want my first fill!!

It seems all the doctors have their own way of doing fills. My doctor makes us come in once a month for first four months for fills and then you just call when you feel you need one. I see some on here that have not had a fill even six months after surgery. I know you want to move this along but enjoy what you got in the moment also. Once you reach restiction it is constant adjusting..... to loose then too tight.

    Temps Effecting Lap Band?

My band has gotten so tight all of the sudden. I can't even get mashed potato down. I have been on liquids for 5 days and still no relief. All I can think of is the extreme heat here in Texas.

    I want my first fill!!

mmmmm enchiladas...... I had to wait 4 weeks and they had deflated what was in it because I fly back and forth. I didn't feel a lot until my third fill and then WHOAAAA. I can't find a good comfort level.

Is this how it's SUPPOSED to be???

I am wondering the same thing but on the opposite extreme. I had a fill June 11 and had to go back about two weeks later and have some removed. I was doing great and eating a variety of foods and no more than a cup at a time. Then all of a sudden two weeks ago I started having problems. I can't eat anything!!! I have been on liquids for 5 days. I can't even eat pudding or mashed potatoes because I start PB it up. I burp when I have anything even liquids. I am not hungry for the most part so I think that means I am VERY restricted and not to loose. I have a hard time getting protein drinks down. I started feeling the effects like headache and extremely sensitive skin so I am now doubling my vitamins and the sensitive skin is resolving (sign of vitamin B deficiency). I dont' live close to my doctor office (6 hours) and I am getting into a new bariatric surgeon that just started practice here so I can't go in until Friday. I just don't understand what caused the sudden change and how to get it back.
  13. can't get anything down...even ice cream comes back up

  14. I have never heard of pineapple juice.. What is the reasoning? Can you actually drink anything when something is stuck?

    Stuck Food....

How did your appointment go? I am not getting much down over the past week and IDK what changed. I haven't had a fill. WOndering if the heat (106) here can make the band tighten. I hate to get more taken out and go right back and have it filled.

    Vomiting Hell

They don't have to take it all out. I had 0.3ml taken out and it made a HUGE difference. They will have you drink while removing Fluid and you can determine where it feels comfortable.

    Stuck Food....

I can not eat before 11 or 12pm either. I have just learned to have my cup of coffee and protein shake and not try anything else. The shake has to be a premixed one also. I cant seem to get one I make at home down and the only thing I can figure is premixed must be thinner or the fact that they are room temperature. I also have a hard time with fruits and veggies getting stuck. Fortunately I don't feel hungry in the mornings...... actually I don't feel hungry very often.

Do you prefer biking, or walking/hiking?

I LOVE biking!!! I didn't like it right away....it's more of an acquired taste. Took me a few months to realize I actually liked it because it hurt my knees and my butt. The town I live in isn't bike friendly so most of my riding is indoor.
  21. I had my third fill on Saturday and have not been able to get anything thicker than water down. I have spent most of my days vomiting (from trying to get fluids/food down). I can drink a premixed protein drink but can't get one I make myself down. I can drink tea, water, and coffee but vomit any type of creamy soup up. I even tried Malt O meal and started vomiting by the fourth bite. What do people do when their band is to tight? Will it loosen up in time? I am about 6 hours from my doctors office so I can't just run in for an adjustment.

    Is my band too tight?

I found a practitioner here that does fills and unfills and went in. Only removed 0.3ml but what a huge difference. I'm gonna go crazy on the mashed taters and gravy tonight....JK,JK but a happy to be able to eat without discomfort
  23. shuckybucky

    Vomiting Hell

I didn't know there was a difference butm mine is definately productive burping.

    Vomiting Hell

OMG... I'm so glad you posted this because I was wondering the same thing about my cycle. I have only had a few since getting the band but it definately seems to get tight... Thought I was just crazy. I had my fill fleww 2 times in 3 days and started my cycle and as for me I guess I am actually burping up everything. Not painful but frustrating. I went in today (found someone in my area) and they took out .3ml and it has made a BIG difference. I ate about 1/4 cup of mushies and that is the first solid I have had since my fill on Saturday.

    Is my band too tight?

Yes.... I did a full day of fluids. I have to do that every time because I have a very sensitive stomache and every time I get a fill I get diahrrea and nausea but it subsides after the initial 24 hours. I have tried everything and still can't get anything down. I can't even eat a fudge pop as I start vomiting this thick phlegm and feel like it wont go up or down. I tried yogurt in the hotel and it went down but felt "stuck" and very thick so I only ate 2 bites. I won't be doing any more vomiting because I will stick to my sugar free popsicles, tea, water, coffee, and premixed protein shakes. Unfortunately Dallas is the closest bariatric facility to me and it's six hours away (normally not a problem because I schedule my fills with my work travel and just lay over long enough in Dallas to go to doctor and I am not out any money). It's a hard spot because I want to lose weight and not feel like I'm just finding a way out of eating healthy but I don't want to hurt my band (Lord knows I couldn't come up with the money to do it again)........Thanks for your response
