    Weird Tightness After Band Fill?

You may be to tight. You will know by morning for sure. If you develop a cough, reflux, or back pain then you are too tight. Don't suffer through it just get some removed if it is too tight. It is amazing how a small amount can make such a difference. Are you getting things down okay? My band seems to tighten for a few days after a fill and then settle. Good luck

Not Sure What I'm Doing Wrong

So you have lost 15 pounds in less than two months and you think there is something wrong??? You sound like you are right on track. YAY you!!! You will hit that sweet spot and have a good month or two but your body always has to recover and adjust to weght loss. Remember your first few visits and I bet your doc or nurse said Lapband isn't for rapid weight loss. It is meant to be slow but steady to prepare your body for success. I didn't lose more then 5 pounds the first 3 months then the 3rd fill was a miracle and I dropped a lot. You are on the right track and doing great!!!

    Forbidden Food Syndrome

Good post!!! Great perspective on freedom. I too do not eat a lot of those foods I used to love because to put it simply.... it hurts!!! My list of foods that are easy to eat is short but they say each person is different. Amazingly though it doesn't bother me that I have given up a lot of foods (common ones such as hamburger meat, cakes, bread, and pasta). My best friend has a lap band also and manages to eat just about everything. Annoying at times but she hasn't had success either.

    Failing!!!

Lulu.... It is not a miracle. It will take work and it is not easy. You still have to watch what you eat and how much you eat. The band is just another tool in your toolbox. I can tell you that it hasn't been easy. It has been as hard as trying to lose it without the band but I have a little more control with the band. If you are looking for something that you get and then just wait for "it" to make you lose weight then NO this will not work and will not be worth it. If you have made up your mind that you are changing your lifestyle FOREVER and this is just to help you then yes you will be successful and it will be worth it. For me it has been worth it but the weight loss has been slow and i have had to work hard at it.

    Failing!!!

Seriously you can't fail at something in two weeks. Relax and let the band work. Most people including myself do not even feel any difference until their 3 to 4th fill. Most seem to gain weight the first few weeks but remember they put a lot of fluids in during surgery and there is a lot of swelling and your body is trying to figure out what to do. You will be hungry until you get to a certain point with your fills but it usually isn't after 1 fill. Try to stick with your program for food as best you can and quit trying so hard. I ate a lot of poscicles and still do to get over the humps when i can't seem to stay full. The main focus is portion control and protein. You will be ok.

    New, Scared, And Clueless

First of all start writting down your questions to make sure you get to ask all you want at your appointments. I can't tell you anything about the process because I was a cash pay patient and I had a consult and surgery within a month but could have had it a week after my consult. The doctors walk you through the process but I have read on here that it can take a while to clear insurance. I think if someone talks about a BMI that is to high then they mean for lap band but another weight loss surgery would be better. Lap band is meant for slow and steady weight loss and within a few years you should be at maintenance weight so sometimes a larger person might need to go with gastric bypass or something else but your doctor will help you decide that. Don't worry about your BMI because a lot of people lose a lot of weight on the presurgery diet. Each surgeon is different about their preop and criteria. Just relax and get the most out of your experince. God luck!!!

    Failure!

If you are consuming enough calories in sliders to gain weight then I don't think you are really at your sweet spot. That is a classic sign of being overfilled. My best friend has a band to and she fights this battle but it is a mental battle. She gets fills to "fix" her eating problem and can't eat anything but drinks cokes, ice cream, chips, etc. Then she starts getting food like Tacos and nachos down but continues to say "I just can't get anything down except the foos I can't have". One day I went to lunch with her and she ate the entire plate of Mexican food then later was upset about her weight gain. I finally called her out on how much I watched her eat and that she is over filled. My advice would be the same to you as to her... go back to basics. Start back with day 1 post op and if you aren't mentally ready then for goodness sake get the band deflated (quit hurting yourself just to gain weight and get it filled when you are mentally ready to start back. You would probably stop gining if you get deflated and just eat normal for a while. It really does seem to be a mental thing with some people..... I hope you find your Mojo again

    Headache After Fill??

I dont know if it is the fill or just timing but last time I went for a fill I got a horrible migraine. Since I fly to my surgeon I asked him if he could prescribe me a pill so I could make it back home. He said it is very common and prescribed me a nose spray. He said it knocks headaches right out and won't make the band tighten or stomache irritation. He was telling the truth!!! I carry it with me now. I can't say it was the fill because I fly there so there are a lot of changes with altitude, allergies, stress, etc but the spray is wonderful. I also didn't realize how much headache medicine (NSAIDS) was messing with my band until I stopped taking them.

  21. You should use a vibrator just to make sure you still have your Mojo. The first few times will be weird but once you relax and go with it WOWZERS!! After I had a tummy tuck I had no feeling in my breast or abdomen for a few years because the nerves get damaged in surgery and take a while to "reroute" themselves so could that be the problem.
  22. Going through this now (at least i'm hoping thats the problem). i have gotten so tight I can't eat much and even cold liquids like ice tea are having a hard time. I choked on mashed potato yesterday and thought I was gonna die...lol.... I am also getting heartburn at night but none during the day. I have been living on very liquidy refried beans for a few days. I can't seem to get dairy products down so beans are my next source of protein. I was doing fine and then all of the sudden my band got tight and I should start this week so I hope thats the problem. The heartburn is the worst part of it.

    6lb Gain!!!! Eeeekkkkk

I had got sick and they deflated my band and when I got well I started with .5ml fills every 30 days so I really didn't make good choices and ate larger portions. We are back on track now so I guess thats all that matters.
  24. it's freezing here

  25. Had a fill today and heartburn tonight.... I hope it's not to tight
